- Welcome back to my channel, where I'm wrapping up my last day in the beautiful coastal paradise of Hua Hin, Thailand. 🇹🇭 It's been an incredible journey, and today I want to share some of my final thoughts and impressions with you.
Now, let's get into it. Hua Hin, oh Hua Hin, you've stolen a piece of my heart. Coming from the bustling vibes of Chiang Mai up north, this place offered a refreshing change of vibe. From the moment I arrived, I felt an energy, a vibe, that was simply magnetic. It's a city that effortlessly blends tradition with modernity, and I couldn't help but fall for its unique charm.
During my time here, I've documented my journey in 14 vlog episodes, each one a testament to the incredible experiences I've had. From exploring the stunning beaches to indulging in the local cuisine and connecting with the friendly locals, every moment has been a treasure. I hope you've enjoyed following along as much as I've loved sharing my adventures with you.
But, is this truly goodbye to Hua Hin? 🤔 Well, my fellow dazzlers, I can't say for certain.
As I bid farewell to this seaside haven for now, I'm filled with memories created and the connections forged. Thank you for joining me on this great journey, Until next time, Hua Hin!

Thanks for watching the Hua Hin Series, you can watch the whole series here - th-cam.com/play/PLdc6l1RJwq0ATwyx21T67SQYa-C0CEhAh.html&si=4MNbE5WpDqbGAKNJ
SEE YOU IN CHIANG MAI
You did a great job assessing HH. Some younger influencers will describe it as some mythical paradise and over sell to get views, but in reality it’s a terrific place for 50+ and pretty relaxed. While the sand is awesome in many places, most areas you can walk out 100M in the ocean and the water is still waste level. Best golf in Thailand, famous for kitesurfing but it really is for the older quiet crowd that want a normal life and have a real relationship, or for the wealthy Bangkok Thai weekend getaway.
Thank you Buddy, that's nice to hear from someone who lives here. I will always say it how I see it. My views are only from a very short time aswell, so I'm sure some of my views would change if I was here longer. Thank you for all the great comments on the vlogs 👌
Wayne, the hardest thing about retiring in Thailand is deciding where to live. What a beautiful problem to have. Thailand with all of its' endless possibilities. Thanks, Wayne. Thanks.
That's very true, so many great places. Thanks you buddy!
@@philipdupont625 yes go up north to Chang Mai and having to live with the burn off season, I much rather be south, but each to their own.
Wayne there are some cheap places there as well it’s a lovely town and it has a nice beach it’s a place I would retire it rains less less pollution not to busy like Bangkok but you can find very reasonable condo there 10 000 and less
Thanks Wayne for all your blogs on Hua Hin. I am visiting Hua hin for a week at the end of October and so looking forward to the relaxed lifestyle. Stay safe mate and thanks again.
Thank you buddy! I hope you have a great time in Hua Hin, I'm sure you will 👍
My favorite place - am retiring there April 24.
Been going there since 2009 - been back ever since.
If your eyes popped open in HH, you will lose more than your eyeballs in Pattaya.
😇
It's a nice place to retire 👍
Just got here. In my opinion Hua Hin blows Pattaya away. So much more to see and do, cleaner beaches, much better food (cleaner), better indoor food courts, much more tropical, more authentic, etc. It is a bit more crowded on the weekends however, but its ok, Im just not going to drive on the weekends. Thanks for your info.
Thanks Rick, nice to hear you liking Hua Hin. Thanks buddy.
And it's way less rain in The Hua Hin and Cha Am area than in Pattaya. In fact the place in Thailand with the least rainfall.
Best thing is you dont have to bump into the same expats every day on a beach walk (Jomtien). There are probably dozens of expats wondering what happened to me after seeing me so many times on the beach walk. It has great condo deals, but thats it in my opinion.@@Oggiwara1
Such as great series mate 👍 Your honest opinion on the different aspects of the city makes great watching … I’m wondering now what would happen if you had a trip to other places and used the magic formula/approach you took to HH in a vid series - I’m thinking specially sin-city Pattaya, the southern islands around Phi phi & Koh Lanta, Kanchanaburi with its WW2 history and of course a tour of Bangkok.
I think we all know you are a CM lad at heart but great to see you travel the LoS 🇹🇭 Take care mate 👍👍😎😎
Cheers Simo mate. Yes, I have a few more plans up my sleeve . I'll be talking about this in the coming vlogs. Nice one Simo.
Hell yea brother! Wayne really got a channel with a lot of substance with great amount of growth to be had. If he were to do all of Thailand/most, theoretically, he may have nearly endless content to shoot.
I am a city guy always love BKK for many years, but will never retire in Thailand kap!🙏💕👍
Nice one 👍
Would definitely love to retire in Thailand best place in the whole world
Great info Wayne. I’m back this Saturday, staying Isaan for 2 weeks. May check Huay hin out in January.
Nice one Marcus, have good one in Isan mate 👌
You are so right about the many interesting and nice places around Thailand, but like you, I still keep coming back to Chiang Mai. But it would be nice to get ocean air all the time and no burning season. I was pleased that HH was not too busy even during weekends, at least at the beach, although the night food markets were packed, even during rainy season. I agree, a nice place to live. Looking forward to your next city to explore.
Cheers Randy, hope all is well 👍
Great Vlog, and series mate...thanks for showing Hua Hin to us Wayne. Cheers Steve
Nice one mate, thanks for watching the series.
3 weeks there!!! Damn 😎 I like that
3 weeks??
Great job taking us on the tour with you, Wayne! Your opinion means something to us who plan on living the Thailand life, too. Seems like at the very least Hua Hin is a burning season retreat.. and maybe a yearning season for all the babes!
Thanks mate 👍. Hua Hin is a great option for burning season and a good little city. I would definitely come back .
Yes Hua Hin is great, but Pattaya especially the areas around, like Jomtien, Pratanmak and East Pattaya are even better and cheaper imo! Plus you’ve got the island of Koh Larn, just a 15 mins boat ride away! 😊 Been living here for over 3 years, never go to clubs or beer bars and with a Thai lady that doesn’t drink. Loves to cook, still travel, 2 hours bus ride to Bangkok, so convenient!
Sounds like you got a good life in Jomtien Roy 👍
@@WalkAboutWayneBut that is the great thing that makes Thailand. So many great places in a small area.
I love Chiang Mai. That was the first place I visited when I came to Thailand. You should go to Koh Lanta and Koh Lipe. My two favorite places in Thailand so far! Koh Lanta is really inexpensive, too!
Chiang Mai is special! Maybe Koh Lipe o Koh Santa in the future. Thanks.
Thank you for taking us on this journey with you 🫡
Thank you buddy 👌
Nice summery, Hua Hin has got a nice vibe to it but there's so many places in Thailand that has a nice vibe to them, it's just a great Country with some wounderful people. 👍😎
Very true mate 👍
I plan on using Chiang Mai as a base and doing some traveling around Thailand and other countries in the area. I'll be in Chiang Mai for 3 weeks starting October 17. If I bump into you, coffe and maybe lunch is on me!
Chiang Mai is a great base I think, still easy to get everywhere. Hope to see you around the city buddy 👍
A good base, as is C. M. So cheap to fly all over Thailand. And still cheap rooms.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🙏🙏❤️
Nice summary Wayne and no doubt well worth the visit. I am glad you enjoyed your trip down south. All the videos were excellent mate. Thanks for the hard work. Cheers mate 🤩
Thanks for the support mate, much appreciated.
As the song goes. UNTIL TOMORROW IL JUST KEEP MOVING ON.
That's the one mate, the channel theme tune 👍
Good on ya mate.
Cheers mate
Thanks for the great walk and talk and wrap-up Wayne, I really enjoyed your perspectives on Hua Hin. I spent a couple of days there many years ago when it was pretty much a fishing village, and I recall it being a bit too basic when compared to Chaing Mai, but now that Chaing Mai seems to be more like a suburb of Bangkok perhaps Hua Hin is more like Chaing Mai back in it's charming day.
I would have enjoyed seeing your take on some properties, but I expect you'll be returning before too long.
Cheers Mate, and until the next touch-down, stay fueled and flying straight and level.
Thanks for watching Jack and for the great comments. Hua Hin was really quiet , I'm not expecting it to be like that if I go back in high season. More touch down adventures coming . 👌👌
@@WalkAboutWayne ♥
Thanks for the Hua Hin videos. Look forward to more of Changmai and the surroundings.
Thank you 👌
Great stuff mate but there are great ladys everywhere in thailand great blog like always take care mate.
There sure is David 👌 Cheers 👌
Can't wait to see HH!!!
Nice, have a good trip 👍
Thanks for sharing brother Wayne. Looking forward to seeing more of your wonderful videos. Thank you.
Thank you buddy 🙏
Hua Hin is where I will be my first year, taking Thai classes, my visa will be for student. One step at a time. My friend is in Chaing Mai.
Learning lots about men, lol. Remember I am widowed, hahahahaha, my experience is very outdated!
Take it easy, mate! 😂🥰👍🏼🥂
Sounds like a good plan, hope it all goes well 👍. I'm sure your plan will be awesome.
Been back in Thailand for two days now and I couldn't be happier! Can't wait until I can retire here!
Nice one buddy! Touching down in the good life! Hope you have a great time mate 👍
have villa in HUA HIN ,since 8 years ..always nice to take a direct flight to CM and have some change with good massages, and street food in the North.
Nice one 👌
Hua Hin it is then. Iv met a lot of people in hua Hin they love it
It's a great place, I'll miss it.
Thank you for the very in-depth review over these past videos. I live in Jomtien and will stay here for the next 12 months. But will get out as well and look around. My son is in Payap University in Chaing Mai and doing well up there.
Thank you for the comment, much appreciated. I'm hoping to visit Jomtien soon.
G'day Wayne,
Glad you enjoyed Hua Hin so much. It's definately a place worth spending more time in.
Hopefully when you get your arsh back you can explore south of it. PKK and beyond are awesome.
Take it easy.
🤣🤣 Cheers mate, Hua Hin was good, I hope to look around that area again soon.
I really like Hua Hin and cha am. 2 very chilled places. Cheers Wayne great video again
I had a great time at both, I could live there easy. Thanks buddy 👍
I'm looking to possibly make Hua Hin a smoky season escape from Chiang Mai. Thanks for the videos
That's my plan at the minute also . Thanks.
Thanks Wayne ,regards Mike
Nice one Mike 👍
safe journey wayne, your a legend mate
Nice one Stephen, cheers mate 🤟🏻
Another top travel series mate. I think Wayne's getting itchy feet. You know not to let the left hand know what the right hand is thinking.
Cheers 🥂. My left and right are related, they always know 👌
Come and film Jomtien Beach, Wayne. I'll be there in a couple of weeks. Cheaper and more to do than Hua Hin.
I could be around that area soon. 2 totally different places by the sounds of it. I'd probably prefer Hua Hin, but you never know . Hope the move goes well buddy 👍
I've always been a beach person but I settled on Chiang Mai. A beach is a beach and I'm not knocking them, but there is something about Chiang Mai, I love the mountains as well as the city. I went to Hua Hin 3 months ago for a holiday and thought exactly as you have. It would be a great place to retire, but to be honest the city itself isn't a nice as Chiang Mai. I was glad to get back to Chiang Mai, but Hua Hin is only a few dollars to fly to for a swim at the beach and fresh seafood.
Well said man, couldn't have said it any better. The beach means nothing to me, I'm not a beach person. It's always nice to see the ocean though. Chiang Mai is special, it's magical 👍
@@WalkAboutWayne being Australian and the beach is our thing,it makes it an easy decision, i lived in Chiang Mai for 3 years, but had to get my beach fix every couple of months, i lived in Phuket too, but much more expensive, unless you eat and drink with the locals away from the tourists, Hua Hin has a lovely vibe, as you say for a retiree, and the bars for the occassional night out. Hua Hin would do it for me.
Finally in Thailand Wayne, not going to script yet mate, but all good fun. Me and the Mrs got up at 5 yesterday, sorted our stuff out, dropped the dogs off and headed on a 5 hour trip down to Perth, went to see my brother-in-law then at 10pm headed off to the airport. The plane was delayed and we took off at 3am to KL, then onto Bangkok on another delayed flight 😮 So when we got to Bangkok we had missed out flight to Chiang Mai, the next one out was another 4 hour wait at the airport. So by this time we had been up since 5am the day before and now its 2pm the following day! So both being knackered with a capital F we decided to stay over night in Bangkok. Enjoying a beer now, still have enough energy to go out for dinner at 6, but I reckon we will sleep well tonight 😂 When I we get to CM Wayne, I’ll let you know, if you have time to catch up for a beer we can make it happen, if not, maybe next time. Good job I’m only 64 and still young!!
Welcome back to Thailand Phil, sounds like you had a bit of a journey, so enjoy the beer mate. I should be around Chiang Mai for a little while. Let me know in a few days and we can take it from there. Thanks mate.
@@WalkAboutWayne morning Wayne, I am staying at the Lana Orient Hotel just up from the restaurant on the corner that you said was good. I am in room 202, so if you want to catch up, if you have time, leave me a message with your phone number and I can call you back. Flying to Hua Hin on Sunday.
Glad you in enjoyed your time in Hua Hin Wayne it’s good to change things up there so many places in Thailand you can go and visit but Chaing Mai ,Hua Hin is some of the great places have you thought about going to Udon or check out the Esan region-Northeastern part of Thailand just to check out and see how things are
Thank! Hua Hin was great! Yes, I have a few plans up my sleeve, so.more to come soon.
Hi Wayne, my husband and I are wanting to go to Hua Hin this month and confused as to where the best place to book. We live in Queensland Australia on the Gold Coast and it is approximately 30ks long with many beaches, which some areas are busy and some are not. We are wondering what you think of an area that is close to the beach, but not too much of a rat race. If you could suggest some areas in order to give us a guide of the Hua Hin area, would be appreciated. Thanks Laraine & Gary
Hi guys, that's a hard question to answer, I was only in Hua Hin for a short time and everywhere seemed quiet to me. I liked the look of the Takiab area, which is a little down from the town, it seemed chilled but very western. As I mentioned, everywhere was empty, but I'm sure it will get more busy next month.
Great video ad per usual 👌 During my travels in Thailand I stayed a week in Hua Hin. Pretty much agree with all your points Wayne. The main one being your observation about so many older western men, mostly from Scandanavian countries which for me, kind of loses the genuine cultural appeal to a country which made the place go down on my rating scale.
To me, Chiang Mai is one of THE places in Thailand because of the cultural options available.
I don't quite get the point of leaving a western country to live among so many western people but each to their own and I fully respect that.
I've loved your videos from Hua Hin bud 👌
Just selling up in Bodmin touching down in Rayong in February but travelling all over Thailand. Maybe bump into you in CM one day 😊
I don't quite get the point of leaving a western country to live among so many western people but each to their own and I fully respect that. Have you ever thought that the cost of living would play a major part in deciding why most Western people live here and not to mention the climate .
@@bravefart1000 I did say....I respect that! Just in case....
Hey Freddie, firstly thanks for liking the videos, much appreciated. I think Hia Hin still has a lot of charm, even though it is full of westerners, but as you.mentioned, Chiang Mai gives a mixture of western and traditional living. I can see why people like the coastal areas of Thailand , but I love the North.
I hope you have a great time in Thailand and hope to see you around . Thanks 👍
Another one I see you player breaking 💕 😉..Was there a little earthquake in Chiang Mai mate just the other day 🤷
You know how it is mate 🤣. Always Earthquakes in Chiang Mai.
🥰🥰🥰
👌👌🍹
Take care Waine keep on waffling waffle ON🤣💪♥️
Thank you buddy.
Very good assessment Wayne. Gives us all a good idea of what to expect too. I would imagine that you are back in CM by now and no doubt now will have to weigh it all up for yourself with some seroius thoughts for the future? No need to convince me though as i mentioned before my mind was made up a while ago. But i must admit after watching (and listening very carefuly to) that amazing capped crusader in "The Adventures of captain WalkAboutWayne" that only strengthens my decision to move there myself. Food for thought though, you could always put Losewheel on a truck without having to ride her the whole way there and then you would still have transport.🤔Great trip. Looks very promising too 👙if you get my drift?. Cheers, thanks mate 👍👍
Thanks Stuart! Yes mate I'm back in Chiang Mai. I've got a couple more vlogs coming from Chiang Mai where I talk about the Chiang Mai/ Hua Hin topic . Both great places . Haha, yes there is one thing that could make me go back 😉. Thanks mate .
Great video mate I think it’s a great location to live esp the surrounding towns up and down the coast they even cheaper are you going to live there?
Thanks mate, it's a cool town and like you said, lot's of others around the area. I talk bit more about it in my next vlog.
Good review Wayne, definitely Hua Hin for me
I am visiting it in December to see it for myself, the Ocean definitely clinches it.
When you go back you will feel at home but that’s natural due to you long term stay
I honestly don’t believe they can compare.
Keep positive ,the air quality and proximity to Bkk is a positive and the new train station will be a great addition, you cut your cloth to your wallet which your expert at anyway.
Stay healthy and well grounded wish you long term happiness.
Thanks Kevin, Hua Hin is a great place and I hope to go back again soon. It's still not Chiang Mai for me, but as mentioned, I've spent a lot longer up north. I'm looking forward to seeing the new rail service also. Yep, I'm an expert at watching the pennies 🤣. Thanks mate.
the royal house has a summer house in hua hin, that's why there are so many police
Yes, I think a royal was in town .
How was hua hin/areas on thailands panhandle affected during the tsunamis of 2004? Such as Phuket and all that.
I'm not sure, but didn't hear much about Hua Hin during that time. I'm sure it must have been affected, not sure how bad though .
I’m planning to move there. ❤ hope we make it…
It's a great place Hua Hin. I miss it 👍
you must find the princess also take her to chiang mai
🤣🤣
Between ocean and mountains, I prefer beaches.
Nice one! I'm a mountain man, but we're all different. It was good to be back near the ocean though.
Jomtien is growing on me
I'll need to look at Jomtien soon 👍
Do u like Hua Hin more so then CM? I enjoy Ur small talk n what u have noticed...haha it's great! I'm gonna settle in Hua Hin!
Chiang Mai is still my base, but I really like Hua Hin. I'm hoping to come back soon.
this peer is more lively at night time
👍👍
Wayne I take it your between 50-60 years old and on a limited income/pension would you say Chang mai or hua hin suits you better?
I'm a little off 50 yet mate, but I'm on a limited budget. I've loved Hua Hin but Chiang Mai is my city . My next vlog will talk about this more. Chiang Mai is my Number 1 all day long .
@WalkAboutWayne I'm sorry for putting years on you ..😆 thanks for the heads up I'm 52 I'm planning on moving to Thailand permanently when I hit 55 ..uk is finished in my opinion.. I've been to koh samui and loved it but think there's better places to investigate
Damn it. I wish I'd been following your Channel a Little closer. I just got into Chiang Mai from Hua Hin. I'm curious if you know where I can rent a Honda ADV 160 or 350 here in Chiang Mai
Try Pop bike bike rental or Bamboo bikes 👍
Hey wayne why not do travel trip report Hua Hin to Krathom Pier and all towns down
Maybe in the future, my next plans are already sorted.
Will keep watching whatever u decide on Wayne
I’d like to see what you make of Pattaya ?
That could be coming real soon 😉
@@WalkAboutWayne I’ll be there on the 28th October
Wayne, if you ever come back and your a non-smoker then ping me and if I have a condo open off the Khao Takiab beach street I’ll give you a YTers discount for a month. 4.5+ star condo’s for close to what you paid for this trip. You can walk 250 meters for dinner on the beach with the moon lighting up the sky, and the patio is connected to the condo pool so you just wake up and roll over in to the pool.
Wow man, that sounds great! I will definitely contact you if I return 👍. I maybe back from the Chiang Mai burning season. Thank you for all the great comments on the series.
I've lived in both places for more than a year each. My lifestyle was quite different but that's mainly through choice and being able to find a property I really wanted in Hua Hin - so now I go out less and can focus on health & fitness. I also live on the beach now, which is the main and most obvious difference but the other one is a bit more controversial 😝 Now I've had friends come here to visit from Chiang Mai and everyone agreed - the one thing they didn't see once in Hua Hin is 🐭🐁🐀 We do have lots of 🐒and monitor🦎but I like those.
Ive been here 2 days and Ive already seen monkeys and monitors.
I can't recall seeing any rodents, surely there must be at night? It was great to see the Monkeys. Thanks.
If you went to Pattaya your mind would be blown not just because it’s different to the rest of Thailand there is nowhere in the world on Pattaya level
I might well be down that way soon 👍
Let's face it all those beautiful young Thai women are with those older fallangs for one thing only, money. If they were skint they wouldn't get a look in with them. I'm going to retire in pattaya in 3 years but never in a million years get involved with a girl from there. The retirement money would soon be gone. The best way in Thailand is the butterfly way. You know it makes sence. Ps udon thani is a great place and worth a visit 😀
100% Having a missus in Thailand comes with drawbacks, you will be alot poorer 🤣🤣. Staying wild and free is better 👍. I'm hoping to see Udon some time 👍
First! :)
Nice one 👌
now i know where ur going during burn season lol
Maybe 😀
It looks like a healthier place to live with far cleaner air than CM.
It's definitely a win for Hua Hin on that one 👍
As far as the police, nothing compared to Pattaya. If you arent wearing a helmet in Pattaya you wont last 2 days without getting a ticket. Most expats dont wear helmets in Hua Hin Ive noticed. As far as women, yes lots in Pattaya but a different kind of woman (maybe not).
Nice one! More people wearing Helmets in Chiang Mai now also.
I think "eye candy" Wayne shouldnt live there. All rthe time stopped by the ladies. Maybe i could protect him? Anyway, still cheap apts. and condos. And a good base for flying around Thailand. Also cheap.
I'm just a magnet mate 🤣
take a man who has been married to but lady for maybe 30 years gets divorced, the man is 65 years old he comes to Thailand and sees the happy and beautiful ladies, it's a take-your-own-table thing ..I also sing it looks wrong when the age is too big ..difficult to see the age of women in TH whether they are 30 or 45 years old ..I'm Danish here the ladies look old quickly when they turn 40 so don't bother having them, they're overweight, smoke, drink , bontos, take sunny yes they get too old too fast, not many Thais do that hold snake and very beautiful ... so I can understand that you take a younger woman, me and my wife are 7 years apart
👍👍
Not again Wayne - it's favourite not favorite. You're an Englishman.
It's done on purpose buddy. Think about it........ 🤔
