The emotional weight of outer wilds and the crushing joy that comes with the ending is exactly why old outerwilds players watch new playthroughs. How many games make you cry anymore? How many do it with genuinely spectacular storytelling? How many give you the perspective?
Well, for one, outer wilds is a game that had me crying on my one and only playthrough, though some games have just managed to get that out of me multiple times.. the Professor Layton series still has some deep cuts..
This game strikes a lot of poetic similarities with real life, internally and externally. As one of the joys of having kids is to experience wonders of life again through their perspective. Same with this masterpiece game - you can only experience it again through others.
I love how your girlfriend just asks herself when she realizes "Do I have to...die?" Meanwhile when I played, I took a whole ten minutes just subsumed in the quandary, knowing what I have to, and asking myself "Am I really going to do this? Am I really willing to BURN myself to death for the sole purpose of knowing what secret is beyond this door?" and going still at the knowledge that...yes, I was.
And I've spent a good hour thinking "nah, that can't be a lead, probably just a lore piece. I mean, there isn't even anything to kill myself with in those rooms except maybe water but its gonna be slow and the fire's gonna die out anyway!"... Yes, i'm the person who never walked into a campfire and assumed they just don't burn us in this game xD
@@Soundwave1900 Oop, that's a funny one! Getting burned by campfires was something I just naturally experienced so I already suspected the same could happen there ^^ Oh dear, did it take you long to realize you had to do that?
@@CrescentUmbreon well, im exaggerating a bit but i really didn't think of death by campfire before i ran out of every other option of dying and leads to follow.
At a moment I wanted to meditate just to reset the loop, and I did it near a flame with the artifact. When I woke up I should have been happy to have such a big hint but I was actually scared. I thought I could be stuck forever (story wise) on the other side.
"Whoa, where am I?!" sums up my reaction exactly. My brain just snapped in front of the genius of that intro and I spent the next three minutes laughing hysterically. I have a few minors gripes with the DLC, but landing on the Stranger and getting a peek of its interior are among the most dizzying moments of my gaming life.
If I’m being honest, I think playing through the ending a second time with the prisoner got me a little stronger than the first. It’s a story full of tragic characters with arguably the prisoner being one of the most tragic. But yet despite their histories, their contributions allowed for the creation of a whole new universe. Plus, it touched on something the main game kind dawdle with but not fully my saying that we should not be afraid of the unknown and instead embrace it because it is just a new stepping stone to explore.
1:10 Awwwww, come on, you guys, that's the kind of reaction we love the most! I'm not even joking, seeing those few seconds of her reaction to the ending made me teary eyed already!
Watching the ending never fails to make me tear up, and I'm glad to see I'm not alone in that. It makes me immensely happy to see others enjoy this beautiful, wonderful game.
I'm a very emotional person myself, and hearing your girlfriend react to the game and the DLC in a similar manner to myself just gave me goosebumps throughout this video. Very well done. Also I greatly appreciate the longer video. The 5 minute videos were great, don't get me wrong, but they always left me wanting more. 10-15 minute videos are absolutely perfect! Something about the way you narrate these videos and add well timed sound-clips of your girlfriend in make these videos a treat every week. Thank you both so much for putting the time and effort into making these videos. The quality is astounding! I don't know if I want to wish you to please go viral, because I think that also brings a lot of stress with it, I just hope you find satisfaction, fulfillment and fun in every video you make. After finishing a game one of the things I like to do is watch reviews and videos about the game to try to capture the feeling of playing it for the first time. And this video is the closest to making me feel the magical feeling of playing outer wilds for the first time Good video and thanks for all the hard work guys
Watching other streamers play Outer Wilds is soo entertaining, I'm nearly obsessed by the game at this point haha, and you explained why, I can't play again for the first time, but other people can do it
I'll be frank, I consider this game my religion, and I don't think I could have recovered so gracefully from bouncing the ship off of Dark Bramble. She's got legendary determination. Also, it appears to be raining, let me wipe my face. Edit: Alright, I'm bawling. It's a beautiful universe.
Man the track “echoes of the eye” is such a banger! I was very confused when she projected her story and it didn’t play. And almost sheltered with joy when I heard it come in at the end.
This video had me crying at the end, what a journey. Echoes of the Eye is the best gaming experience I've ever had, so seeing someone else sharing my emotions was so touching. I really need more Outer Wilds DLC to come out so I can watch more videos of her playing it lol. Thanks for this, it really made my day.
Amazing even more so than usual!!! Not only was the pacing, editing, ect masterful, but this is also the longest video by a good margin, and much more quiet and letting the gameplay and girlfriends reaction to speak for itself. Its not easy to figure when something needs to be more mellow, so kudos for figuring all of that out!.
everytime "Travelers"/"Travelers' encore" plays i just get so emotional, its kinda always a melancholic joy to re-experience this game through other people
2:26 this moment literally took my breathe away. This DLC captured all the magic of the base game, and it was still something new and different. The music, looking up and around and taking it all in….such a beautiful moment
Outer wilds is so perfectly crafted. I feel everyone who plays has the exact same moments of awe everytime. I wish I could get people I know personally to play outer wilds to hopefully have someone experience the same things I did playing. But this is a nice second :)
When you used the classic theme instead of Echoes of the Eye during the Prisoner cutscene I was a little confused and a bit disappointed - but that payoff for that at the end was SO well done! Amazing video, your editing here was top notch. Another commenter put it well, the pacing was great and you really knew when to let the gameplay speak for itself.
I love this game so much! Mobius created such a masterpiece and through such beautiful videos like this i can experience it for the "first" time again through someone who has not played it before. Thank you! Btw: Hades next?
i teared up at the end, same thoughts exactly and im glad i get to see it through anothers eyes for the first time. since I first played i just keep sharing with as many people as i can and living through their experiences
TH-cam recommended me the video for the base game just now and of course I clicked on the DLC video, but it was uploaded an hour ago?? Perfect timing. Nice ending to the video and great editing skills!
This game will forever tug on my heartstrings, but watching others go through the journey I loved so much and will never experience again just brings it all back. The editing was great, and the reactions have me in tears yet again over this game. Absolutely wonderful, thank you.
I've watched maybe 20 playthroughs and at least 3 of them cried hard at the end....boy or girl, it didn't matter. I watched this with my over-ear headphones and the music is what I enjoyed the most. Masterpiece game and masterpiece music.
I've loved games before and definitely gotten emotional when a well made tales has to wrap up but I've never felt so "emotionally probed" by a game before, it does an amazing job of connecting to what i think is a universal message of what it means to live and further maybe even what it means to die, Outer Wilds is one of those rare examples of something that can maybe one day define the medium, I think it really shows the potential of what games as a medium could be
I legit teared up after the ending fake-out and stayed happily teary for the rest of the video, and seeing Taryn's icon in the memory-sharing screen? TTUTT
those dang onion cutting ninjas are out there again... Man I love this game. It's a very special feeling to see someone else experiencing it for themselves and being just as enarmoured with it
I know it's been a year but the first time I watched this video I couldn't understand why she was so emotional but after I finally rewatched this I absolutely started bawling thank you so much for sharing with us your gameplay and reactions much love. - Me
This is so well edited and really captured that feeling of experiencing the game anew thru someone else’s experience. And thanks for making me cry again at the ending just like she did 😡
you both seriously got me crying with you on this episode. your content is just so well made and both of your personalities together make me feel so many emotions. This hhame is so incredibly important to me and it's always such a wonder to share someone's first experience w/ outer wilds. I know it's a little unlike your current content, but I know I would watch a multi-episode playthrough of the full game, and I, sure many like me would do the same. or if that doesn't feel right on this channel, maybe a second channel of very low maintenance unedited playthroughs! no matter what, please just keep creating. thank you both for being you.
On one hand, getting genuine emotional reactions to these once-in-a-lifetime type experiences is pretty cool. On the other, these are pretty intimate moments that I can totally understand wanting to keep between you two.
I'm trying to get my friend to play this. I know this will be his reaction. I know it will be a game that will always be something he remembers. What's magical about this game is that even when you beat it, and can't truly ever play it again, you can have that magical experience through someone else.
Thank you for making this video! Absolutely love this game and the fact you were able to put the whole game in one video with all the best moments is awesome. Definitely gotta check out more from you! The production quality of this video was amazing :)
Thanks to your first video, after I beat the base game and started the dlc I bought the complete pack for a close friend and am watching him stream it. It is absolutely amazing seeing someone’s experience first hand and feeling the unbridled joy they do when they make a discovery.
I finished the DLC today, perfect timing to watch your second video on Outer wilds lol. Keep up this great content, your channel will explode. Just takes time.
I've been looking up LPs since Outer Wilds broke my heart with it's deliciously melancholy ending, and her reaction was absolutely my reaction. Makes me wish you guys did some long-plays on a separate channel, but this is beautiful as well.
I am happy that this video lasts longer than the others, you have shown once again that you know how to best capture the emotions of your gameplay, in the end I couldn't help but cry too, your girlfriend is even more emotional than me, and I want to say that I discovered dream world not intentionally too, It was amazing.
I'm to the point where I'll buy this game for anyone I know that hasn't played it. I'm amazed she accidentally discovered the dream world. And I'm crying again
Took me four separate attempts to finally finish the original Outer Wilds - not quite sure why in retrospect, because that fourth attempt led me to discover one of my all time favorite games / works of media. It kinda breaks my heart to think about the people who flew a little too close to the sun and read or watched spoilers.
I’ve always given my honest feelings whenever I watch an outer wilds video like this. It typically goes something like this: “Outer Wilds is my favourite game I’ve never played and likely never will. It was a once in a lifetime experience going through it together with one of my closest friends, I simply don’t want to pick it up knowing everything I do and change the memories from every corner of our universe.” I wouldn’t give them for anything, I hope you feel the same way.
OMG, I would love to watch her heartfelt reaction to the ending... that's what we're looking for.. to share in that experience to relive it ourselves. Plus it sounds like a REALLY powerful and beautiful reaction... fitting to what is happening.
I dont usually comment on videos but holy shit, your videos are so awesome I really had to, watching her get closer and closer every run, experiencing the same things we all did when we got to certain points, the way you comment about it, it all just feels so pure and perfect (and honestly, with that end it made me shed a tear) Im now addicted to your videos, and surprised because you really deserve tons of subscribers, but with the quality and love you make this videos im sure you both will make it Thank you:).
Once again I come to this video to experience what I've failed to get my girlfriend to do. Amazing video again, I'm gonna watch your career with great interest, you definitely have what it takes to be one of the great TH-cam channels! I'm rooting for you guys and thanks for the tears watching this video brought to my tears!
I don't think a youtube video has ever made me cry before now lol, that ending was *chefs kiss*, I hope I can get a similar bittersweet moment with my gf when she finally agrees to try the game
I've only recently stumbled on your channel and I have to say the little animal crossing cuts really make this channel have its own sort of cute charm to it. I really like it.
The wonder I felt when you added your girlfriend's icon to the story circle was almost equivalent to what I felt when I saw The Hatchling's icon added at the end of the DLC. Bravo!! This was a fantastic video!
You both did a great job, including the editing! If you ever do feel like strolling down memory lane, go unlock the vault IRL, not in the simulation. You’ll know what everything means. You might even put some ghosts to rest.
outer wilds is one of my favorite games of all time! both of these videos were very very good. you guys are both super cute and the editing in these videos was amazing. can't wait to see more :)
What a wonderful ode to the best piece of media ever, this video is going to be one of my favorite renderings of this game's experience! Deepest thanks go out to both of ye!
I would've loved to see both of those playthroughs. I really liked Wanderbot's one where he too gets emotional. It really elevates the experience. Could we get a separate channel with these playthroughs pretty please? :D
Watching other people play Outer Wilds for the first time, is the only way you can even try to recapture your own experience playing Outer Wilds for the first time, which is the best part of the game.
Sharing your story with the stranger and having them cry out in celebration that what they did was worth it makes cry every time. Including this time. Subbed
I would love to see her play Breath of the Wild, Mass Effect (at least 2), Wolf Among Us (Or Tales from the Borderlands), Ori, Portal, or Journey. These all have similar things that she might enjoy: cute factor, story, characters, fun gameplay, and immersive lore. As a girl myself, I love seeing girls enjoy the aspects of games that guys sometimes don't.
I think im with everyone that we are constantly on the hunt to watch peoples first playthroughs to catch everyones reactions and live vicariously through them again. moreover about including her reaction to the end. i only find it sad that you felt it would drag down the mood. to me it elevates it. knowing that alot of other people (me included) were in a state just like that brings a sense of togetherness.
Found your channel with the first outer wilds video, i love your commentary, her reactions, and the cute anecdotes, subscribed and eager to see more from the both of you
The tension on entering the stranger after the devs hyped up that it was going to be spooky (and especially after the trailer) is incredible. Then you drop into paradise. It's one of the most awe-inspiring moments in gaming, I swear.
Not sure if you're aware, but since the game forces you to die you can never go back to the real world after freeing the prisoner, however they added something in the bell in the real world, if you're able to compleyr the puzzle without dying. it's a a neat addition since some people figured it out
I accidentally found out about the bell secret because i didnt have the "meditate to next loop option" and went for my quickest reset. and hoooweee, was that an awesome moment i wish i recorded
Don't worry girlfriend! I Bawled my eyes out the first time I played the song too. I Cried my eyes out after doing it for the DLC! I cried my eyes out AGAIN just going back and showing a friend I had been streaming for the ending. The ending STILL Gives me a basket load of feels! Hell! I cried just Watching you interact with the prisoner yourself!
Honestly since I played this game 1 month ago it's consumed my life. I'm watching everything related to it I can find, listen to the ost on repeat and I wish the neuralizer from MIB was real.
Outer Wilds is the only game I have cried at the end, too. It's a mixture of realizing that there really is no way out in this story and the realization that I can never play this game again.
i'll never not get emotional when the "sharing memories" music plays
The track is called "Echoes of The Eye"
Yeah, that track is god damn fantastic.
its a deserving track to get the title of the dlc

This channel is just *waiting* to go viral, keep 'em coming!
Thank you! That means a lot to us :)
speaking of that
@@NoNameAtAll2 Yup!
Already congratulated them, they replied!
It was a once in a lifetime experience going through it together with one of my closest friends, I simply don’t want to pick it up knowing everything I do and change the memories from every corner of our universe.”
I wouldn’t give them for anything, I hope you feel the same way.
OMG, I would love to watch her heartfelt reaction to the ending... that's what we're looking for.. to share in that experience to relive it ourselves. Plus it sounds like a REALLY powerful and beautiful reaction... fitting to what is happening.
13:07 You got me! Thanks for including. xoxo
Adorable! I love people getting so emotional with this game! Now I wish I could see the raw VODs...
I dont usually comment on videos but holy shit, your videos are so awesome I really had to, watching her get closer and closer every run, experiencing the same things we all did when we got to certain points, the way you comment about it, it all just feels so pure and perfect (and honestly, with that end it made me shed a tear)
Im now addicted to your videos, and surprised because you really deserve tons of subscribers, but with the quality and love you make this videos im sure you both will make it
Thank you:).
Thank you so much!! That means a lot :)
Honestly the dream world in Echoes of the Eye is one of the scariest parts in any video game I've ever played and I play a lot of Horror Games.
Thank you both, big hugs
Once again I come to this video to experience what I've failed to get my girlfriend to do.
Amazing video again, I'm gonna watch your career with great interest, you definitely have what it takes to be one of the great TH-cam channels!
I'm rooting for you guys and thanks for the tears watching this video brought to my tears!
I mean I'm already crying watching this at the "Whoaaaa, where am I?" part. God this game is so good.
just want to admire OW music for a bit, I don't think I'll ever be able to hear travelers or echoes of the eye without getting chills
Boy and Girl you make me cry. This game is so damn good... And Girl reactions make all so wholesome. Cheers from boy from Chile.
Watched one video and suddenly im hooked on this date night series.
I don't think a youtube video has ever made me cry before now lol, that ending was *chefs kiss*, I hope I can get a similar bittersweet moment with my gf when she finally agrees to try the game
I'm on my 24th run on this playlist and I'm gonna say; this is the greatest player development I've ever seen...
I've only recently stumbled on your channel and I have to say the little animal crossing cuts really make this channel have its own sort of cute charm to it. I really like it.
Even months later that one song always gets me in the feels. Cant wait to see what the next game these developers will make
Massive props on the work that went into this vid, especially that ending! Brilliant.
Glad to see someone blubbers like a baby as much as I do at the end of EotE
Her crying as a reaction to both main ending and DLC ending was priceless hahahah
Also i hope to find a girlfriend like yours, beautiful relationship
The wonder I felt when you added your girlfriend's icon to the story circle was almost equivalent to what I felt when I saw The Hatchling's icon added at the end of the DLC. Bravo!! This was a fantastic video!
Probably one of my favourite youtube videos. Your edit at the end is incredible 😻
PS i cried from both videos lol
Thanks so much!! :)
What a wonderful ode to the best piece of media ever, this video is going to be one of my favorite renderings of this game's experience! Deepest thanks go out to both of ye!
Thank you! We're glad you enjoyed it :D
What an amazing video, thank you and thanks to your girlfriend for sharing this experience so well, happy cry
Your editing style is so smooth! fantastic video!!! excited to see what else you guys make :)
1:46 Love how you briefly edited in the "I Was The Sun Before it was Cool" Novakid theme!
Always want to see reactions, that's why I watch so many playthroughs of this game
Sharing your story with the stranger and having them cry out in celebration that what they did was worth it makes cry every time. Including this time.
Subbed
I watch a lot of videos and never leave likes, but for "Did I fool ya? We're gonna get it right this time" - well, that's a well deserved hit on Like.
Found your channel with the first outer wilds video, i love your commentary, her reactions, and the cute anecdotes, subscribed and eager to see more from the both of you
Awesome! Thank you! :)
The tension on entering the stranger after the devs hyped up that it was going to be spooky (and especially after the trailer) is incredible.
Then you drop into paradise.
It's one of the most awe-inspiring moments in gaming, I swear.
Not sure if you're aware, but since the game forces you to die you can never go back to the real world after freeing the prisoner, however they added something in the bell in the real world, if you're able to compleyr the puzzle without dying. it's a a neat addition since some people figured it out
Always happy to see you got a new video out. :)
Playing this in VR was an absolute trip.
LET'S GOOOO, you acctualy did it!!!
Thank you for the video. Brought up the same emotions I felt when I experienced this work of art.
100% I cried too during the memory sharing and updated ending lmao
I accidentally found out about the bell secret because i didnt have the "meditate to next loop option" and went for my quickest reset. and hoooweee, was that an awesome moment i wish i recorded
Don't worry girlfriend! I Bawled my eyes out the first time I played the song too. I Cried my eyes out after doing it for the DLC! I cried my eyes out AGAIN just going back and showing a friend I had been streaming for the ending. The ending STILL Gives me a basket load of feels!
Hell! I cried just Watching you interact with the prisoner yourself!
Yeah, this brought tears to my eyes just re-living the game vicariously. Yay, emotions!
YESSSSS I was waiting till you upload the first one is so cute. Love it.
Edit: I've cried before playing and now seeing her again.
