9:20 She is actually correct, it's called Imput Reading, where the enemy AI reacts to your Input. It has been in the game since Dark Souls 2, maybe even in Dark souls 1. There is 2 major forms of this. Heal Catching, where they will do an animation faster than your animation to heal and punish you for trying to heal. They punish you more for this in Elden Ring, cause they time it to hit AFTER you drink the flask, so you lose your charge, AND more HP than before. The other form that was sparse in the other games, but HEAVILY implimented not just in bosses but ALL, or nearly ALL enemies is Roll Catching. Where they time their attacks, and have attacks just long enough, where if you don't roll exactly when the game WANTS you to roll, the enemy will catch and kill you out of the roll.
Regardless of what everyone's said in the replies, that's still no meager feat. I mean I beat my first run (which I started on launch day, so arcane scaling wasn't a thing on a lot of them) with my samurai's initial equipment, which turned out to be perfect for the bleed build I wanted to run anyway.

Or by Ornstein, but he slides instead of running. Also dogs with the running bite. Speaking of dogs, Capra does the forward lunge. Sure basic bitch hollow number 462 won't do that, but they're supposed to be stupid and even then somehow the skeletons do. Most importantly though: that happens if they're in a neutral state when you chug Estus, either standing or walking towards you. If they just finished an attack, there's a short recovery time where they won't react (otherwise healing would be impossible). That is to make it so you need to use the same openings for healing and for attacking, by the way.

Shes right about the AI of enemies. I had to also reprogram myself to literally bait their attacks by mine knowing they react whenever i try to hit. Malenia would walk around, i hit air, she reacts instantly. I knew there and then what i had to expect. Horror lol

Just found this channel. If you don't already know there's a mod called Seamless Co-op that pretty much fixes all of the problems the base game's co-op has. Would love to see you two do that together, since having two people makes some things easier and other things more difficult. Cherry on top, everyone can ride horses. It also allows 4 people to play together and if the host dies you don't get sent back they just respawn. So if you want more people, I'd be up for joining because addicted isn't even a strong enough term for my feelings towards Elden Ring.

yeah that's actually quite obvious, I normally waited out a bit before healing (to wait for the moment when enemy just did an attack that happen to not reach me), but whenever I heal, they start charging at me or range attack, immediately
@@leesasuki When a boss is programmed to attack flask use, I end up using an attack opening for a flask instead. It makes the fight slower, it allows for completely safe flask use.
Also Genichiro in Sekiro used to do that. In his lightining phase he does the jump attack when you heal. I even ended up using it to kill him faster when I was 300 hours into the game ahahah

I found a particularly difficult life stealing one, if that's the one you're asking about. I thought I was pretty thorough in my first playthrough, but I looked up a boss ranking and realized I missed like half the bosses. The game is just so big! My girlfriend did a lot of exploring, but ended up focusing on the main path once she found the capital. Hope this answers your question! Enemies do actually do a specific attack most of the time when you attempt to sip, like when godskins throw fire ball or when the knights do long reach stab to catch you.

9:12 WHAAT?! This has been an well known fact since DaS1, the enemies 10000% read your flask (or item rather) input to punish you, is not a tin foil hat theory. Exploiting that is what makes possible an ups all Gwyn run in DaS1.

I confirmed for myself enemies do infact input read when i kept shooting arrows to a lion that couldnt reach me and It allways dodged just when i started pulling the bow
@@ditchfood8047 Yup. the only difference is that they dont react to buffered inputs (is that what you call it?), like when you heal during a roll, they react to teh flask animation not your button press. But i dont think its really an issue. It just means you have to think about when and where to heal. No different from an aggresive boss. Hell i find healing in malenias second phase more difficult then in her first phase despite her input reading in phase 1. But its way easier to play around then her insane aggrasion in phase 2

9:10 Your GF wasn't wrong, they're programmed to do that. If you retreat quickly, they'll often predict if you're going to heal and will do some kind of thrust, jump or ranged attack to stop it. Not every strong foe does it but the two you showcased definitely do. You gotta outplay the bosses read on your moves.
My wife also insisted on fighting most field bosses on horseback. I figured out you could swing on the left side of the horse pretty early, but I didn't learn until basically the end of my playthrough that you can switch to your left hand weapon on horseback lol.

I love this because I’m also a girly girly who is big souls fan. I love elden ring and I can 100% relate to spending a looong time designing my character. I also have several different looks. If she doesn’t already know you should let her know that she can save looks. Also it’s hard to find flattering amour but for something fairly strong and lightweight I suggest the leather set and the nox swordstress set. You have to kill patches to get leather set but luckily my bf had killed him in his game so he gave it to me because I didn’t have the heart to kill patches myself. Malenias set is also one of my favorites but it takes awhile to get since you have to beat Malenia first. As for a stronger amour I recommend the fingerprint set, since it’s missing a shoulder pad it’s more flattering. The black knife set is also a bit feminine but I don’t like bulky shoulders on my character so I don’t usually wear this one. I read somewhere that you loose some defense if not wearing any helm so for my head I usually go with the bandit mask and sometimes I’ll wear the black hood. I’m hoping they put out some more good amour in the expansion pack but we’ll see.

Found this channel randomly but loving the content. The humor your girlfriend displays while playing is one of my favorite parts and I'd totally watch either of you stream for the humor involved
9:10 but they are, though. That fire attack she complains about is one of them. Margit throwing two daggers is another one. Elden Ring bosses are a step up in that they dynamically mix up their combo without it feeling out of place, as if every attack has a choice tree attached to it. This is really cool and makes the fights feel good at any distance with any weapon, it also makes things that are supposedly 'out of combat' feel unfair because it draws you back in. There are some bosses where you just can't disengage to drink, you have to find an opening within the combo that you otherwise would hit them in.
I’m not sure how late the experience will be and whether you guys play on Pc or consoles but the new mod “Seamless Co-op” give you a full co-op experience and allow you guys to summon torrent and bypass the invasion systems unlike the current soul’s online system. Give it a try if you guys are interested in exploring all other ending in Elden Ring.

A lot of Fromsoft bosses really are made to react specifically to healing in front of them, Genichiro from Sekiro notably had a different specific response to using your gourd depending on which phase he was in.

Just found this channel. If you don't already know there's a mod called Seamless Co-op that pretty much fixes all of the problems the base game's co-op has. Would love to see you two do that together, since having two people makes some things easier and other things more difficult. Cherry on top, everyone can ride horses. It also allows 4 people to play together and if the host dies you don't get sent back they just respawn. So if you want more people, I'd be up for joining because addicted isn't even a strong enough term for my feelings towards Elden Ring.

yeah that's actually quite obvious, I normally waited out a bit before healing (to wait for the moment when enemy just did an attack that happen to not reach me), but whenever I heal, they start charging at me or range attack, immediately
Crucible knights do it too. Every time you try to heal they always do their long range attack.
Also with Margit phase 2. The instant you flask, he throws the daggers at you.
@@leesasuki When a boss is programmed to attack flask use, I end up using an attack opening for a flask instead. It makes the fight slower, it allows for completely safe flask use.
Also Genichiro in Sekiro used to do that. In his lightining phase he does the jump attack when you heal. I even ended up using it to kill him faster when I was 300 hours into the game ahahah

I found a particularly difficult life stealing one, if that's the one you're asking about. I thought I was pretty thorough in my first playthrough, but I looked up a boss ranking and realized I missed like half the bosses. The game is just so big! My girlfriend did a lot of exploring, but ended up focusing on the main path once she found the capital. Hope this answers your question! Enemies do actually do a specific attack most of the time when you attempt to sip, like when godskins throw fire ball or when the knights do long reach stab to catch you.
God the crucible knights. Fuck the crucible knights. I swear their greatswords have the same phantom range as lothric knight ss in ds3. Favorite enemies to fight. Such a fun challenge

WHAAT?! This has been an well known fact since DaS1, the enemies 10000% read your flask (or item rather) input to punish you, is not a tin foil hat theory. Exploiting that is what makes possible an ups all Gwyn run in DaS1.

I confirmed for myself enemies do infact input read when i kept shooting arrows to a lion that couldnt reach me and It allways dodged just when i started pulling the bow

Also according to someone who was testing this, they dont input read, they animation read. Which still the same level of bs.
@@ditchfood8047 Yup. the only difference is that they dont react to buffered inputs (is that what you call it?), like when you heal during a roll, they react to teh flask animation not your button press.
But i dont think its really an issue. It just means you have to think about when and where to heal. No different from an aggresive boss. Hell i find healing in malenias second phase more difficult then in her first phase despite her input reading in phase 1. But its way easier to play around then her insane aggrasion in phase 2
The commitment to blood borne she has while playing Elden Ring to go so far as to to say "Is that Kos?" on the first glance of the Elden Beast is Beautiful.
9:10 Your GF wasn't wrong, they're programmed to do that. If you retreat quickly, they'll often predict if you're going to heal and will do some kind of thrust, jump or ranged attack to stop it. Not every strong foe does it but the two you showcased definitely do. You gotta outplay the bosses read on your moves.

My wife also insisted on fighting most field bosses on horseback. I figured out you could swing on the left side of the horse pretty early, but I didn't learn until basically the end of my playthrough that you can switch to your left hand weapon on horseback lol.

I love this because I’m also a girly girly who is big souls fan. I love elden ring and I can 100% relate to spending a looong time designing my character. I also have several different looks. If she doesn’t already know you should let her know that she can save looks. Also it’s hard to find flattering amour but for something fairly strong and lightweight I suggest the leather set and the nox swordstress set. You have to kill patches to get leather set but luckily my bf had killed him in his game so he gave it to me because I didn’t have the heart to kill patches myself. Malenias set is also one of my favorites but it takes awhile to get since you have to beat Malenia first. As for a stronger amour I recommend the fingerprint set, since it’s missing a shoulder pad it’s more flattering. The black knife set is also a bit feminine but I don’t like bulky shoulders on my character so I don’t usually wear this one. I read somewhere that you loose some defense if not wearing any helm so for my head I usually go with the bandit mask and sometimes I’ll wear the black hood. I’m hoping they put out some more good amour in the expansion pack but we’ll see.
I gotta say I was super impressed with her first time dodging the elden beast sword swing. Also this is a hard game. Your girlfriend is a gamer.

9:33 i mean, it is literally how they are programmed. There are times when bosses don't attack and if you try healing they will do something like this right away, thou they have moments where they will not do it and they are quite obvious.

9:10 but they are, though. That fire attack she complains about is one of them. Margit throwing two daggers is another one. Elden Ring bosses are a step up in that they dynamically mix up their combo without it feeling out of place, as if every attack has a choice tree attached to it. This is really cool and makes the fights feel good at any distance with any weapon, it also makes things that are supposedly 'out of combat' feel unfair because it draws you back in. There are some bosses where you just can't disengage to drink, you have to find an opening within the combo that you otherwise would hit them in.
I’m not sure how late the experience will be and whether you guys play on Pc or consoles but the new mod “Seamless Co-op” give you a full co-op experience and allow you guys to summon torrent and bypass the invasion systems unlike the current soul’s online system. Give it a try if you guys are interested in exploring all other ending in Elden Ring.

A lot of Fromsoft bosses really are made to react specifically to healing in front of them, Genichiro from Sekiro notably had a different specific response to using your gourd depending on which phase he was in.
