  • In this video we show you step by step how to recolour leather, how to change the leather colour. We have a black BMW leather seat that we recolor 50/50 in the BMW leather color Canberra Beige.

Thank you so much for the attention to color change! I was looking specifically for a change from dark to light- black to a white... wondering how it would work and this fits that need perfectly!

Good day, i often watch your videos and i i am excited by your job. I see you always use cleaning spirit after sending and not before sanding.
Cleaning - gld solvent - sanding - cleaning spirit - primer - colouring - top coat.
I have read colourLock's technical book Lederzentrum leather training, where i read. And there recommended to dedust without using not any cleaning liquids.
Could you be so kind to explain to me this stage?
    With best regards.

Hello Gio Ts, thank you very much for your attention. In the manual training we are safe with our statements. You have to use a suitable solvent to remove dust. Most of the solvents and alcohols are not suitable. Leather Cleaning Spirirt is very gentle. It binds the dust very well and leaves a grease-free surface without removing paint. In the video it is easier to use tricks and tips that make the life easier to approach.

Hello, I did exactly front seats in M3 like in this video and final effect is brilliant , thanks again for help.
During the job I wondered about a few things :
    - Why this 80/20 color and primer mix is used only for stitches / edges , why not paint whole like you said cloudy and then primer -> color etc. ?
    - What ratio of gloss and matt do you recommend for car seats ? I used 50/50 and it looks matt , I liked more how leather looked before putting top coat.
    - When surface is fine in touch after top coat do the 4000 sanding is necessary ? Maybe this will make leather more shine ?
    Please advise for future.
Btw . GLD is behaving totally different on new leather, not taking color and there is no sticky feeling like on old one but more like gum material, is always like that ?

      Hello thanks for your comment.
We mix primer with paint for seams to dilute the fare and get better into the small gaps. You don't need that in the area. It has nothing to do with liability. If you dilute the paint with water, the paint dries much slower and you can get dripping faster. dilute with primer.
You get a satin matt top coat with 60% matt and 40% gloss.
If the leather is soft and smooth, you don't have to smooth it out with 4000. Only when it's rough.
Not every leather reacts in the same way, it happens from time to time that GLD does not make leather sticky. In our experience, however, this makes no difference in the result.
