If you put a big bow in the middle, it will make an uncomfortable lump under your corset. It’s better to avoid anything that can create a lump, because although you might think it’s not too bad when you first wear it, after a few hours it becomes a real pain! Literally!
Yea I wanted the bow for the look but the the thought did occur to me 😂 I’ve actually finished the corset now and it’s not caused an issue so far but I’m not against leaving it untied underneath if it gets uncomfortable 😄
You have no idea how much I appreciate that, I struggle with it so much! There are editing mistakes in some of my videos that literally keep me up at night😅
@@MadameMyriad Ughh, late nights, yep, been there. With living on our homestead, I am able to have a few hours every afternoon and then evenings into night to sew. I have to tell myself lights out at 10pm because I know if I keep going, more than likely I'll have to redo it in the morning, lol! The latest I've ever stayed up for a project was 1am. I was determined to finish the 1940s wool princess coat for my sister. She gets up a little before me in the morning and I wanted to hang it up on the closet door so she'd see it first thing! Though I was tired for 2 days straight for that, it was worth it to see her smile! :)
@sewmuchjoy For me a really late night is like 11pm, I could not function until 1am to finish anything 😂 That sounds like such a cool project though, I hope she loved it 🥰
@@MadameMyriad I have to admit, I was weirdly high in energy that night! I would never normally stay up that late sewing! Especially as I usually get up at 5 am. 😂 She was thrilled with her coat and was able to wear it a few times before it got too hot for wool!
This literally popped up as I was searching around for lace, for my own combinations, LOL! You did a wonderful job at drafting and tweaking the patterns as needed for these garments! Bravo! 👏👏👏
@@MadameMyriad I know, my bought pattern says 12 yards of lace. I have sensitive skin though (everything itches me!), so I was thinking about using cotton eyelet lace instead. I have several bed-skirts I picked up at a garage sale, thinking I'll use that. Oh and bedsheets are a great way to save money!! I picked up a huge stack of white cotton sheets at the same sale with the eyelet lace for less than $20 dollars. Yes, that is yards and yards of white cotton! Have made 4 petticoats so far and will be making my combinations with it as well. Used a lot of it for pattern drafting and mockups. A cheaper way for sure!
@@MadameMyriad Most of the sheets I bought were Queen and King sized flat sheets. So yes, a lot of yardage! One King sheet was ivory, used that to sew my Maria nightgown! Best thing I have ever sewed! So delicious to sleep in every night! ('Tis from the 1965 Sound of Music).
Ooo the cotton lace is a good idea, I’ve got about a meter of some that I’m hoping to use on a project soon, I’ll bet it’ll look really nice on combinations 🖤 & I would love to use bedsheets but I live in a small town with very expensive charity shops, even when I have found bedsheets in them, they are more expensive than just buying fabric so I have to really like the fabric for it to be worth it 😂 I’m usually better off with thrifted curtains
@@MadameMyriad Lucky for me in TX, our Hobby Lobby has sales every few weeks for cotton at $3.60 a yard. We also have thrift stores- Hangers of Hope or Goodwill- for sheets and whatnot. That *can* be expensive though. Our local Salvation Army has an annual spring sale and fall sale every year. The Women's Auxiliary. 'Tis where I bought a ton of sheets/eyelet lace for under $20! My favorite place and the cheapest way to buy sheets for projects and mockups!
In a few of the Result scenes, like the one of you reading a book, you looked like a regular Pre-Raphaelite beauty. I realize that the Pre-Raphaelites predate the Edwardian period by a few decades, but nonetheless, the effect was still charming.
I was lucky to find it, I didn’t even think to buy ribbon so I would have had to run to the shop last minute! pretty sure I cut it off a present last year😄 Burgundy sounds like a great choice, you’re getting me excited to see yours now!
@@MadameMyriad Thanks! Haven't started it yet, but hope to soon! If I indeed use the eyelet lace, then I have all the materials and pattern to begin. I just have so many projects that I want to do! Now that Spring is here, I have been spending a lot of time in my secret garden. Planting Gladiolus bulbs, flower seeds, yellow snapdragons and rose bushes. Oh and we had lambs born today!! They are so precious! :)
