I would ABSOLUTELY support on Patreon to watch your content.
I gather all my cookies for my granny squares and select the colors for my center squares accordingly, then my 2nd row is always a unifying color. Our I'll make all the centers the unifying color and use different colors on the 2nd and 3rd rows. My join as you go yarn is my final round and the border. I've made a few this way and it works for me as far as stash busting goes and reduces how much cost is involved in making add I only need to buy the unifying colors. The rest are various yarns and all from yarn I've been given or used in old projects.

So great to see you and Bobbin again! I loved your podcast years ago and have missed it, so what a treat to see you are making some again 😊 -- what a nice accompaniment to an afternoon of knitting. Your quilting is wonderful as well.

The granny square blanket is gorgeous. Great colors. I love the different size squares. The block stitch blanket is also beautiful. Looks like stained glass with the black as the background color.

Hello Dani it was wonderful to hear from you. I really enjoyed watching. It was as if we were sitting together and having a chat. Your son is very close in age to my granddaughter. They are so fun at that age but, they consume all of your time. I didn’t craft very much when my son was small. All to soon they grow up and no longer need you as much. It is nice to be able to enjoy the season that you are in. I love your aesthetic. It is so soothing and comfortable.

You came up on my TH-cam feed. I don't knit but crochet. I have been crocheting garments now and use quality wool. I want my sweaters and cardigans to look like the wonderful knitted garments. I know it costs me more but the results are well worth it to me. I just transformed a summer cotton cardigan pattern by using Erica Knight fingering weight wool. I just love it and am excited for autumn to be able to wear it. Sometimes a pattern's texture is great and I like neutral colors so I try and look past what I see. Sorry for the long comment. I hope you will give the crochet pattern you liked a try and change it to how you like it for you. The granny square bag is beautiful! Your socks are amazing!! 🧶

Excellent way to start my morning. 💜 My heart gave a leap when you said you used the troll colorway. I've made myself an afghan from the same colorway. My sil saw me working on it and loved it so much that she requested that I make one exactly like it for my young niece. The yarn is so hard-wearing and softens up with each wash and dry. I use the same wash and dry cycles that I would for commercially-made items, and it handles it without any problem.

Hello Dani, lovely to see you here on YT again😊 I did an awful lot of crocheting when I was a teenager /in my early twenties . Back then I used to get a magazine called “Golden Hands” which taught many fibre crafts and built into numerous volumes over the years. Still up in the loft so I should really fish them out! You may recall I am working on your Goose Eggs Quilt? Lay Family Yarns are just about to deliver Block 8, but I am only just completing Block 6. Sewing and Gardening plus holidays and time spent with our little grandson eat up my time in the summer months. Hopefully as the evenings draw in I will pick up the pace again🤞 BTW I still haven’t blocked any of the squares or sown in any of the ends yet!🥺 Still enjoying the tranquility of knitting it and seeing the colour combinations Kelly and Nick come up with each month. It will get completed - I am determined! 😀 All good wishes to you and your family.😊

So many with Patreon now it adds up so I move around some and always feel badly… I love them all
I have had trouble with them not being able to access the videos but they still take my money every month and customer service is nonexistent so I get annoyed
Anyway I would try and follow you

I don't think I have the expertise to write up the blanket pattern, there was quite a bit of 'winging it' involved 😆. I do have another couple of balls of Mandala in another colourway and am so tempted to make another so maybe I'll be a bit more mindful with that process and share how I did it 😊

So lovely to see you again Dani…your blankets are beautiful and your new sock patterns are simply gorgeous! I’m currently working on the Contrast Blast socks by Stephen West, and the Alpine Bloom sweater by Caitlin Hunter…my long term projects include The Goose Eggs Quilt blanket (4 squares completed using Lay Family yarn sets) and a scrappy sock yarn mitred square blanket…as a mostly “monogamous” knitter, I think I’ve got more than enough on my needles at the moment 😂 As an aside, I cannot believe your little guy is nearly 5 years old! I knit and crochet and make garments. Wool is fine as long as it has to be some structure. I don't use anything that's very drapey is all. I live in a place that gets really cold so I like things to have a bit of bulk and crochet does that.

Hello Dani, it was so lovely to catch up with you and what you have been creating. I love the colour combinations that crochet inspires and one of my favourite designers is Amanda Perkins - there are a couple of very lacy patterns for edge to edge cardigans by her that might be a good starting point for a garment that might inspire you and her books are brilliant. I wonder if you have thought about using the 'community' tab here on your TH-cam - it is a very useful extra area. And I don't know how you feel about the 'thanks' here on TH-cam but that is something I like to use when I can to support creators. Anyway I am sure you will find the right thing for you and it will be so good to see what you decide to do. I am having a lot of fun with the Goose Egg Quilt blanket knitting - it's a lovely pattern. Take care and happy knitting, Teresa 🐾💙🧶♥

I'm working on a sweater pattern for myself at the moment, so I only need to worry about one size right now. The problem is I don't think well math mathematically so I have to stop and knit once I've come up with an idea, and see if it works and if it doesn't I get to rip it out work out some different numbers and try again. I am taking some serious notes though so when I've got it how I want it I can just make it again easily. It is going to take me a while though, lol. Nice to see you put out a podcast again, it was a welcomed surprise when I opened TH-cam today.

(I had a lot of coral pink acrylic/wool blend to use up, and that was after knitting myself a shrug and making a sock monkey for my niece out of it.) The pattern itself was confusing, and I think they were fibbing about how much yardage it took because I couldn't do the full edging. But it turned out mostly okay. I would absolutely crochet another garment, but I might avoid Lion Brand garment patterns next time.

Dani, I was commissioned to crochet an ankle length granny square cardi/coat about 4 years ago. I made it out of Knit Picks Brava Worsted which is an acrylic yarn. Basically, it was a wearable blanket. It was sooo heavy! I was completely stressed out about the joinings coming apart. I warned my client that I was concerned but she really wanted that length. I ended up reinforcing all of the shoulder block joins with quilting thread. I still get a little sick feeling when I think about it, wondering how it has fared over time. Note to self - do NOT take commissions on questionable projects.

Oh that is so stressful! It's so difficult to explain practicalities of a craft to someone if they don't actually know how to do the craft isn't it! I feel your pain on that one!

Dani, it was so lovely to watch this podcast tonight. Just what I needed. You made me laugh about naughty Teddy…Tasha used to be the same - though perhaps she was a bit more cuddly than Teddy.
That crochet bag is EVERYTHING!!! ❤❤❤❤❤ Quite inspiring 🥰🥰🥰

Lovely video-thanks! Where can I find a pattern for the granny square handbag?

    • @littlebobbinsknits3052
      @littlebobbinsknits3052  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you so much 😊 I didn't use a pattern for the bag. It's just a panel of 12 for the front and back (4x3) and 1 square wide. I used the join as you go technique for all of it then did a few rows of double crochet (uk terms) around the top. I used a granny square random colour generator for the colour placement. Hope that helps.

Hi Dani! This is the first time I'm seeing your podcast and I so resonated with the beginning of this episode.."we're keeping this one!" because I just started my own knitting podcast (1 episode so far😊) and the number of times I started and restarted my second episode recording..😂was ridiculous. Haha. So I felt this. Looking forward to watching more of your episodes and connecting with you, lady💗

Sooo great to see you again Dani and I love love love all of your crochet makes. When I make crochet garments, I tend to stick to the lighter weight yarns (fingering mostly) so that I get the drape without the weight and the item is actually wearable! I really like your bag and didn’t know that there was a random color generator for granny squares! In terms of dialogue with your audience, would it be feasible to do short vlog-style videos? I know time is of the essence sometimes! Just started my own YT podcast about all things yarn-y and I’ve only recently found enough headspace for it since retiring from my healthcare career. Wish I had started earlier because I’m having fun with it but sometimes that’s just the way things happen and we do best not to beat ourselves up about it! Take care and hope to see you again soon!

Thank you so much. I'm not sure how to proceed really, vlogs tend to take me longer than a sit down podcast but I will find a way. It has been lovely reconnecting with people 🥰 I'll have to come and have a visit to your channel thank you for letting me know about it 😊
The random granny generator is brilliant, there is also an app called Crochet Studio which I have enjoyed using too, so helpful when you don't want to think you much (which I really like 😆).

I've made crochet cardigans etc. I doesn't use 3 times as much yarn more like 1.5-2x. When I started I used acrylic yarns but I like wearing natural yarns more. I just finished a cardigan in merino/silk dk yarn. It used 1400m (I usually don't use as much yarn as others somehow) and weighs 550 gram. I don't think it's heavier then dk knitted garments. I don't like acrylic yarns in crochet garments mostly because of the drape I love acrylic yarns in crochet blankets. Cotton can be really heave in crochet garments so I only use it when it's a cotton acrylic blend.

That's really interesting thank you. What cardigan have you just made. Merino/silk sounds like a lovely blend for a crochet garment. I must give one a try.
