I feel this more when the battle is done and the character leaning up against the wall slowly dying. Maybe he won the fight, maybe he fought long enough for the other characters to finish the fight. Either way he begins to reflect on his life as he dies and decides, “this is a good end”

Written for Frank Sinatra by Paul Anka in 1968. Sinatra had been in showbiz for over 30 years when he recorded it and was contemplating retirement. He had ALOT of ups and downs in his public life and was known for doing it his way. After a short retirement he came back and performed until 1995. Singing this song all over the world 🎶

When he passed, we had like 40 people singing this song in his honor.

Check out old WW2 era footage of young Frank in concert with masses of screaming, weeping teenage girls. That phenomenon started with him. They screamed for him as much or more than they did for Elvis or the Beatles. Soldiers away at War really resented him for getting their girls so excited 😄

Yes. His fans were called bobbysoxers, because they wore short socks. He was huge in the 40’s, then had a real lull in his career before he took off again. I love his song ‘I’m A Fool To Want You’. He wrote it about Rita Hayworth who was a glamorous movie star he was married to. They had a tempestuous relationship. When he was recording it apparently tears streamed down his face.

The strange thing was he suddenly was able to hum the song and squeeze our hands as he took his last breath. He did live his lie “his way” and was such a positive and hardworking man. He came from nothing in a town of 199 people to marrying my mom and having 4 children. He started 4 businesses that now employee thousands-so I felt like he handled his life with pride , grit and determination. He did it His WY! Love you Dad “A. Rex Johnson. Miss you more everyday!

Frank's influence and scope was so widespread throughout the world for many years, that even new generations come into contact with his legacy at some point, to some extent. He was the Elvis of the 40's and early 50s.

Frank also had ties with the Italian Mafia, particularly out of Chicago. Not to take away from his music, which is amazing, but the man was literally an original gangster.

Such an epic song and I only discovered it for the 1st time in 2023. I had a prof that played a song at the start of every lecture all semester and he saved this one for our last day and final exam. I swore I had never heard it before and didn’t recognize it but it instantly became my favorite. He talks about standing tall and that’s exactly the feeling this song gives you. This song became my morning routine. Whether I was leaving for work at 4:30am or walking across campus to my first class of the day this song just always put me in the mood to conquer my day. I feel like few songs today can make you feel this good about something you can relate to. I don’t care about rappers bragging about their lambos, bottle service in the club, or how many “bitches” they got 😂

@@alameas6358 I'm glad you remember. Wow~sorry to hear about the accident. I am hoping for a better 2023, although it has already been met with challenges. But we are still here, and standing. I actually was watching the Lisa Presley Memorial, when I received your comment. Isn't that just so shocking and sad. It's strange how it all happened after Elvis' Birthday and the Movie, and the Award show. But she did not look well at all. Ugly how it all happened.

Yes, it's so sad and heartbreaking 💔.
I just watched Priscillas speech and i can't stop crying. It started so positive this year....the success of the movie, the birthday celebration and then the Golden Globes.
But you are right, she didn't look very well.
Sometimes it's kind of weird how happiness and sadness can go side by side.

You know that scene in The Godfather, when 'Johnny Fontaine' shows up at the wedding of the Godfather's daughter and the girls go wild, then he asked The Godfather to do him a favor and get him a part in this new movie, cause the Producer/Director refuses to give it to him? In real life that was supposedly Sinatra and I believe the movie was 'From Here to Eternity'. BTW, he really did get the part. 😎

He was part of a group back in those days it was Frank sinatra, Peter lawford, Sammy Davis Jr , Dean Martin and Joey Bishop. They started out calling themselves the clan but that seemed to bring much dislike for them because of the KKK so they changed it to the rat pack...

I agree and he tried to warn Sam Cooke some of the mafia he was Initiating with he was trying to warn Sam to be careful but he didn't listen that's why he was murdered and the same thing for Marilyn Monroe frank had regrets as he spoke about in his interview that he wished he had married her maybe she would be alive today from whoever involvement she had with some Mafia. Frank was very gangster he played the game very well his attitude was it was ashamed some of the others he knew were good close friends didn't play the game. I liked the 3 pack group frank was in with Samuel Davis if I've got that right I didn't like how Frank Sinatra at the end treated him as they've been friends for a long time and I think Sam needed some help and support financially from Frank he did not help him So Frank wasn't innocent But I agree he was gangsta

Italian men in the late 1800's and the first half of the 20th century were some of the greatest men who have ever lived. Were they alive today, the chaos that we're experiencing would not be taking place. They would have neutralized it completely. They had an understanding of what was a threat to civilization and had the spine to act. There are young people out there who are discovering this. Great to see.
