      What's even more insane is he'll pretty much be cripple by arthritis & in his hips, spine, feet, ankles & knee replacements in about 10 years.
      Pro basketball players are nearly crippled by the game when they turn 40. And NBA players have the best doctors & physical therapists in the world with an insurance coverage plan to cover their insanely high medical costs for all the post career surgeries, rehab & physical therapy they'll need the rest of their lives.
      It's not all the running that destroys their hips, lower spine, feet, ankles & knees. It's all the jumping.
      I hope this guy gets paid well for this stuff.

      @@flaccidego4291 ?? What on earth are you talking about? What nba players are “crippled” by 40? Jumping doesn’t destroy you unless you let it. Real athletes, like Christopher spell here, get stronger every time they jump because they have trained their body to handle these loads. If someone only did plyos, sure they might fuck themselves up, but the best like Chris here are in the weight room constantly for recovery and strengthening. You have it misguided. Chris will be absolutely fine in the future, and he knows how to remedy it if he’s not.
      Also, LeBron is 40 and still at the top of his game lol

    • @DiaAkin
      @DiaAkin ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Agreed. With modern technology, sensors should be placed under your shoes and you jump in front of a panel that tracks the final height reached by the sensors.
      You can have extremely long arms, a shorter jump, and still reach the higher pegs.

      Don't get me wrong, they usually always have hops! I just don't think the tape method is accurate.
      I benefit from super long arms. My wingspan is 6 inches taller than my actual height. So, I could always jump and reach things far up with no problem despite only having like crazy hops like that. I could get up, but nowhere near where these guys were. I could dunk and everything with no problem, but my advantage was my arms.

    • @fecundity82
      @fecundity82 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@davidsaunders7118 it’s not outdated, it’s situational.
      NFL combine cares who can reach the higher pegs. Same with the NBA. Volleyball…
      Vertical leap matters far less than total height achieved, in the sporting world.
      For the Guinness vertical leap record, I agree, it would be idiotic to use a traditional jump tester. (I have no clue if that is how they do measure it)

    • @elitemidrange
      @elitemidrange ปีที่แล้ว +18

      From what I understand, they measure your standing reach, and then compare it to your jumping reach, so having longer arms wouldn’t increase your vertical because you would also have a higher reach than someone the same height with shorter arms, maybe I am wrong though.

    A running start is NOT a true vertical...period! At 1:48 he did do a true vertical jump

    That's hops. But I think I've seen a few people on TH-cam who have a higher standing backflip. Fire though. 🔥

    I always feel like being a "pro dunker" basically means you're an athletic freak with all the physical traits, but zero basketball IQ. Lol.

    5'9" = 69"
    69" (height)
    + 1" (shoes)
    +48.5" (vert)
    _________
    118.5"
    So, his head should be 1.5" from the rim if his standing vert is 48.5". It was not anywhere close to that in the dunks at the end.

    If his record is 48" ...he is definitely NOT the world record at all. There are a couple above 50"
