I don’t know what part of this is TAS, but it’s so smooth 😮 the way you walk behind guards and make contact with them only to have them turn and see nothing is amazing.
Since there are really no resources I can find to get 1st on all levels I have to use your TAS video as a guide. I'm surprised how much is humanly doable
Alex Silver Although his effort in programming this speedrun is commendable, please take note this is not actually a player doing this. TAS stands for Tool Assisted Speedrun. As the name implies the run is done by a program doing all the command inputs wich results in this "perfect run". Although it is highly entertaining to watch keep in mind a TAS run is, in essence, fake.
+Daniel Babativa He doesn't throw the C4. He put 2 C4 in the same guard. In MGS (at least, in PSX), C4 doesn't active a chain explosion or explode all C4s at the same time, instead, they explode 1 by 1 (in the same order you put the C4). The first one kill the guard and move it "faster" to the camera, and the second one explode also in the guard, but close enough to the camera for exploding that too.
+Amalokch The randomness of Snake's position could only be changed by restarting several times for some reason. I tried a few other things, including waiting several frames before entering the level, but nothing else seemed to change the RNG seed.
OMG so much Ai abuse, these genome soldiers cant keep up as you run circles around them XD superior vision due to their gene therapy MY ARSE, they cant see 6-8ft in front of them you can run past, those vision cones are not worth Jack nor S**t! XD Ah wonderful stuff this was a thrill to watch, well done indeed! MGS still has a an incredible sense of style, still strong to this day! BTW! 11:03, Love that crouch under the lasers, crouch, spin 180, get up and your passed the lasers, SLICK A.F. that move! oh and OH MY GOOD LORD! 13:00 well done for find that glitch in the crawl space, you just enter backwards and it looks like you go first person for a second which i assume helps F**k the game and you stand up and you glitch through the floor texture and take everyone out, thats madness I never knew about that, very well done! XDXD I know this is tool assisted BTW but its no less impressive when you see it run back in real time!
Didn't know that! Also, if you don't mind me asking, how exactly is this run tool assisted? Did you play each mission individually until you reached the best outcome or is this a single segment?
Unlike a console run, tool-assisted runs are played frame by frame on an emulator in an attempt to achieve the fastest theoretical time. See tasvideos.org/WelcomeToTASVideos.html for more information.
Do you have some programmable joystick or are you using some autohotkey setting software? Because your shooting button time is very fast also on 1:45:14 that knocking 6 times on the wall took you only 200 miliseconds / 12 frames. Anyway it looks like you are playing that game on an emulator so is hard to say it was a fair playing.
+TheBugError The best way to think about it is this: imagine console speedrunning as a sport and Tool-Assisted Speedrunning as an artform. I do plenty of both; TASing is the art of pushing a game to its theoretical limit. Every input I make in a TAS is theoretically doable by a human with perfect reflexes, though obviously the chances of this happening are pretty much slim to none. The emulator I used for this run is called PSXjin, though it's no longer accepted by TASvideos (having since been obsoleted by BizHawk). For more information on the differences between the two, please visit tasvideos.org/WelcomeToTASVideos.html
let me explain all of this. The emulator is named PSXjin with an integrated SPU Plugin, the no reverb music doesn‘t make the sfx any different. What makes it different is actually because the plugin is old. The sfx are clippy and buggy, actually they get cut off the right second where they begin. The plugin “PSX Pete’s Dsound Driver 1.9” is buggy aswell (the same like this)
+Urist McTubedwarf This is the North American version; the lack of reverb is an emulation error. Using the European version would be much slower, both due to it running at 50Hz as well as extra time wasted on a copy protection gimmick requiring you to insert Disc 1 of MGS1 before you could play.
Advanced mode starts at 45:22 / Special Mode at 1:11:50 / "Mystery" at 1:38:25 / "Variety" at 1:52:10

It's... it's a.... ghost.
You could create a Call of Duty montage with those PSG1 sniping skills man
It's incredible how this game really get you prepared to play the game itself...
But the game became easy after this.
I didn't realize this was such a massive project. That's a lot of frames.
THIS IS GOD LEVEL !!!
"This is good, isn"t it" ? Big Boss approves.
It's TAS.. is a bot lol.

A grunt of the digital age, that's just great...

In game Solid Snake: Colonel, how do I get pass these guards and surveillance cameras?

Since there are really no resources I can find to get 1st on all levels I have to use your TAS video as a guide. I'm surprised how much is humanly doable
I've got the ones from the original game (not vr missions) by myself but i see this possible and helpful for the 1st ranks
These TAS are great. It gives some ideas about how to better play some missions.
"You're pretty good"
Pretty...good...
01:27:36 what was that about? Look like he was having a sugar rush while going mad....
1:28:00 full blown steven segal will saso mode

Great job for Metal Gear Solid 1: Special Missions for VR Training.
1:27:50 What the hell is a grenade?
mario2980 It's something you hold in your hand to make you run faster, duh ;)
Ur kidding me right?
The Advanced levels are where the exclamations really start to roll in.
Mario2980 it’s a device that is stuffed into an anus for body heat

What's with the no reverb on the music though?
wdym
What a huge and an excellent work. Congratulation!
(sad that is be finished there'll be no more stream BibleThump)
I'll still be doing streams of RTA stuff, but yeah, no more VR.
I absolutely laughed out loud when you killed Meryl before the goal showed up when finding Genola! 😂
10/10 Flawless Gameplay
45:42 Jesus that was some viscous CQB. Both tangos down before he could finish his sentence.
You are Amazing...😮😮😮😮😮
8:54 was just hilarious for some reason. he just gets up "Huh?" probably thinking to himself "Was I just flipped by a box?"
38:12 WTF?
Has to be tool assisted or slowed down.
Like Ben1 said
That's why it's called a TAS, a tool assisted speedrun
You can choose a container to create
Snakes victory jump is so weak lmao..its so funny
Me when I see a snake I like: "excellent snake"

Lol I always thought that he was laying on a spilled wine bottle
Nostalgy from the good old PS1 days :P

The PSG 1 level was my fave to watch and is also Quiet’s skill level 😆

Wish There Was a Platinum Trophy for MGS1 and MGS1 VR Missions
Sorry for silly question. Why do you keep retrying the ninja mission at 2:06:06?
Kersijus I think it may be because of the position where Snake spawns, but I'm not sure.
@@Lunaticmasterspark Yes, RNG Manipulation.
I got 99% and I still can't play as the FUCKING NINJA!!!!
The bug exploit at 18:14 wouldn't be possible in the PS version, right?
This TAS was done on the PlayStation version. I'm not sure if that bug works on PC but I'd assume so.
Didn't know that! Also, if you don't mind me asking, how exactly is this run tool assisted? Did you play each mission individually until you reached the best outcome or is this a single segment?

The hacks are real :D
You're pretty good. I did 14.11s on NG Selection 3. No TAS. ^^
how to unlock grayfox ? im playing to 99% but still can't use grayfox ! any idea?
If you're playing on the Integral version, you also need to get the BIG BOSS rank in the main game to unlock the Ninja missions.
please! how can i get bigboss rank?
You need to play through the main game on Extreme difficulty in under 3 hours with 4 or less alerts, 25 or less kills, and only one ration.

AWESOME TEM!!!
The Music sounds like it dosent have any reverb. Whats with the sound?
the audio renderer on the emulator he's using spits the music out like that if you choose to disable effects i.e. filters/reverb
pej™ gotcha. Hopefully it's not like PSX or something.
ピーター i'd guess epsxe, haven't used psxfin in a long time so i forget just what features you get on that one

Great game!
So how exactly does Mystery Level 04 work like that anyways?
What's with the audio? It sounds different to what I normally hear in the game
This was done on PSXjin, a deprecated emulator from 2011. The integrated sound plugin had faulty sync settings which would turn off the reverb.
@@notpsx Thank you, that makes sense.
