If my husband and I ever decide to “upgrade” our original wedding rings we will probably go with moissanite. I don’t actually think we would need or want to that though for multiple reasons. I mean, my wedding rings basically never leave my finger. I LIKE having a smaller size stone, thank you very much. I specifically told him that I didn’t want a large stone on a ring that would wear every day. I like that my rings feel like they have become part of my hand. The fit was completely perfect too. His parents gave my husband his mom’s first wedding rings (they “upgraded” rings after 25 years of marriage.). A completely perfect fit from his mother’s ring. I also told my husband that I liked vintage things that had history to them, and that I would be super proud to have an engagement/wedding ring that had family history. He decided right then that I DEFINITELY a “keeper”.
Just set the main moissanite amongst genuine diamonds in the new setting and the refraction of those onto the moissanite Taking away the rainbow. It will turn out fabulous.
I've been married almost 15 years and I have a diamond that is beautiful and I love it very much, but if I had known about Moissanite back then I would have chosen it for my engagement ring. @@jlo1423 that's not true.. Diamonds are literally overpriced Diamonds are not particularly rare. In fact, compared to other gemstones, they’re the most common precious stone found.
I have many natural diamonds I wear all the time, I bought a moissanite ring from a reputable jeweller and wow it sparkles more than my diamonds except my yellow diamond and they are on a par with each other. I would buy Moissanite again in a heartbeat and they are definitely conflict free.
@@jlo1423 I am not interested in monopoly games. I have plenty of diamonds, they are much more affordable in Australia, the lucky country, than any other country in the world. I do not buy diamonds to sell and make money and moissanite is a beautiful stone even if it is lab grown.

If I had gone with diamond my ring would have easily been 3-4x the cost. I’m very proud to have a moissanite wedding ring!
Thank you for making this video. My fiance & I are in our 40s we each have 3 children, 3 currently in college, 3 to go. It would be ridiculous to have another expensive diamond. I LOVE my 1.5 ct oval moissionite engagement ring!💓💍
LOVE my moissanite ring! I wasn't sure what type of ring I wanted, but I knew I didn't want a diamond (for several reasons) but my fiance was drawn to more "traditional" styles. When he told me about moissanite, it just clicked. I was so into the "space diamond" aspect of it (I've always been a bit of a moon baby, drawn to the celestial) and it's just the perfect fit for me. It's so brilliant! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants that beautiful diamond look without all of the icky ethical/commercial aspects.
thank you so much for this video. my husband and I decided on moissanite to allow for everything I loved and wanted. I got a 5-carat diamond equivalent, hearts and arrows cut, platinum bands, and half eternity on both the engagement and wedding ring. we could not have afforded this with a diamond stone! plus I rather have the fire and brilliance of a moissy. bravo to De Beers for the successful marketing campaign and no shame to diamond lovers, I'm just happy this alternative is becoming known and popular!

@@jlo1423 I am not interested in DeBeers monopoly on diamonds. The fact is the consensus seems to be deduced from replies on here, including one from a professional Geologist, that moissanite is a beautiful lab grown stone.
I’ve been absolutely loving your videos! I used to hobby metalsmith when I was in high school (as I had access to my school’s metal and glass shop). I really want to get back into it when I have my own place to make my own wee shop. I’ve also asked my bf to go with a moissanite rather than a diamond (unless his family has an heirloom stone) for me as moissanites throw rainbow fire rather than white fire and RAINBOW SPARKLES are so me 😅💗✨
My ring is a moissanite and we are very happy with it. My husband and I were able to get a very beautiful set that I love without spending an arm and a leg!
When my fiance and I were talking engagement rings, I was doing research into different stones. I knew of the ethical issues behind mined diamonds but it is my birthstone and I wanted something very similar to it. Every other video comparing moissanite to diamond said that the latter had more fire -- but I very much agree that moissanite shines rainbows more than diamond!! It was the deciding factor that made me want moissanite: I thought the fire made the stone prettier
Exactly my reasoning! And diamond is my birthstone too, lmao! I could get a diamond the same size, but why would I spend more for something that isn't as pretty and probably has some bad vibes and blood in it's history... Nah fam, there is no reason to buy diamond anymore, except personal preference ofc. Anyway, you have great taste clearly!
Of course they won't! In time people will want real diamonds again and the price will sky rocket due to the demand (as minning will stop the prices will go up) you buy fake diamonds (moissanite, CS, glass) then they will be cheap because your buying a cheap stone. Its like gold rings! A plated gold ring tho it looks like gold will never be worth what a REAL solid gold ring is worth! Jewellers will tell you go for moissanite because it cost them pennies and they make hundreds/thousands from silly uneducated people.
@@jlo1423 A true moissanite is beautiful but some sellers try to pass off the fake cubic zirconia as moissanite and that is probably why you are so against lab grown diamonds and moissanite which are both very expensive to buy unlike cheap cubic zirconia lol

YES! I love Moissanite. I personally love synthetic stones (that are done well) because you have the opportunity to get the best qualities of the stones without so many drawbacks, especially the ethical concerns. Pricing and quality for price is huge, like you mention, as well.
I love Moissanite and can’t wait to have my wedding set made. Me and my husband had a Covid 19 wedding on 6-13-2020, after rescheduling or formal one, and I got a pink tourmaline center stone ring as it is his birthstone. I get to where a little piece of him everyday but my dream ring for our formal wedding that will take place 8-13-2022 will have a Moissanite center stone. Love the videos and can’t wait to see more!!!!
I just got a moissanite ring for Christmas just because I loved the unique "dutch marquise" cut and the teal blue/green color of the stone so much that my husband ordered it (he was pretty happy with the price of this one.) It's just as gorgeous as my lab grown diamond wedding ring! Even with it being a colored stone, it sparkles brilliantly! I'm so lucky to have been given one!
My brother and his fiancée went shopping for a ring. A jeweler told him a story about how most people can't tell the difference at first sight and even some jewelers have trouble. That sold him on it. His fiancée wanted a sizable stone and the moissanite made it all a lot less expensive and just as beautiful.
True. I've fooled jewellers in bright lights. It's when your in cosy, soft lights, you see it's more green blue light that bounces off. But in very bright lights, it looks like a diamond.
My moissanite ring cost about $600. Couldn't be happier! The thought of spending thousands on a ring always seemed ridiculous to me 🤷♀️ and I'm so glad there's a great alternative
My Moissonite engagement ring is beautiful, and has great luminance. I got it in a marquise cut, which diminishes some of the fire and makes it look even more diamond like. We chose it because Moissonite is conflict free ❤️ plus it’s super budget friendly!
I love rose cut too! When I was in silver smithing school, I would buy up all of the rose cut stones that I could find at my gem store. Now I order direct from India. I can't believe the difference. Have a great year ♥
I have a few Moissanite rings. They are awesome - a much better price than a diamond, and they actually give off more sparkles than diamonds. Some - depending in the cut - have a ‘disco ball’ appearance. I have both a lab-grown diamond and moissanites. The diamond gives off more white sparkles and moissanites give off more rainbow colours.

My ring is gorgeous, I get compliments daily because it's big but not grossly big. And surrounded by other stones with twiting post with even more stones up the sides of the engagement ring and the wedding band. It's moissanite. It's dazzling and I adore it!! It sparkles sooooo much I love it.
Thank you for your down to earth, snob free, real expertise. I have several simple pieces of Moissanite my favorite being my 1.5ct solitaire pendant. I never take it off unless to clean. After 5 years it still looks brilliant and amazing. When or if I should get engaged I already have a 3ct cushion cut in mind that I have been in love with. And if the BF doesn't pop the ? I'll get it for myself 😁
Getting ready to make my first diamond piece using a .5 carat moissanite. I had no idea that it is more brilliant than real diamond, definitely will keep me coming back to this stone.
My engagement ring is moissanite! It’s sooooo sparkly & beautiful. Was also significantly cheaper than diamond. I also love that it originates from meteors! Highly underrated gem.
As a person who is fortunate that I can afford any stone I want, I still LOVE and prefer moissanite for so many reasons, including just sticking it to debeers and all these evil mining corporations

Though I did have an odd experience... after hearing about moissanite from the jeweler we ended up getting the ring custom made from, we went to another just to double check our options. When we asked this one (a national chain) about using moissanite, they said “we don’t do that because it yellows if left in a hot car”. Like... why would I leave a ring worth so much money in a hot car? Like ever? They recommended white sapphire, which looked so dull compared to what we ended up with. So glad to have my moissanite ring!!!

I bought a moissanite ring a while ago and it sparkles in the most beautiful way. The only trouble is that it’s set in sterling silver with an open (i.e. adjustable) ring design, so people would know it’s a cheaper alternative when they spot that. Perhaps I should’ve asked for a custom made ring that’s my size instead.
I love my moissanite ring!! I think it’s better than diamond in every single respect- one other thing I love about moissanite that you didn’t mention is that moissanite reflects in rainbow colors whereas diamond reflects only white

If clarity, weight, cut and size are the same, you'll get brilliance from a sapphire but you will get more refraction (colours in the flash) from a moissanite. You can buy both synthesized sapphires and moissanites but only naturally-formed jewellery grade sapphires. There are other gems that give you more "fire" than a moissanite but either they are not suitable for every day wear or should never be set into a ring.

My beautiful moissanite ring fell into the lake at our cottage when I had an accent with the dock. I usually take it off to go swimming and I forgot to. I had it 7 years and it cost us very little at the time. No one had ever heard of it. But when the jeweler showed us the papers of authentication and we saw that it was basically star dust, we were sold. It was just under $700 CAD at the time for 1CT, simple round cut. Now, jewelers near us and even online are asking $1,500 or more. Even the place we bought it from, who still had us on record, quoted us $2,000 CAD due to popularity.
I like that it is ethical, and I own a Moissanite now and it's so beautiful and sparkly. I am so in love with it!
I love diamonds, but they are way overpriced and I think Moissanite is just as beautiful.
Cheap for a reason
@@jlo1423 that's not true.. Diamonds are literally overpriced
Diamonds are not particularly rare.
@@jlo1423 what's wrong with being smart enough to know where to spend a money? And why do you have to comment on everyone's facts and opinions here? My god almost comments here you have a disgusting answer. Keep it to yourself dear. We dont want your worthless comments.
I went with moissanite because I wanted a larger stone and didn’t want to spend as much as a diamond costs. And let me tell you… it’s gorgeous. The brilliance and shine is amazing. If I had gone with diamond my ring would have easily been 3-4x the cost. I’m very proud to have a moissanite wedding ring!
Perfectly said
Thank you for making this video.
I use to work with Saks in their jewelry department. I’ve seen some of the world’s best, a the moissanite outshine!!! Diamonds are no longer my best friend; moissanite is my ride or die!
@@kicknitwithmom I like the idea of having two rings, I never thought of that
Fake it till you make it or someone points out that your stuff is fake lol
@@jlo1423 cubic zirconia is fake and looks it, moissanite is lab grown as are lab grown diamonds and not at all like the fake cubic zirconia. The only exception is a Swarovski zirconia which is superior to cubic zirconia.
@@janrose7897 magpies can't compare a solid gold ring to a plated one or a natural diamond to a man made lab grown diamond or moissanite. The facts are DeBeers hold these stones back to increase their value and in doing so natural stones will ALWAYS hold more value than man made ones. This goes for the actual gold in your metal and craftsmenship. Being genuine is a rarity, being copied is a compliment. Nothing like the real thing.
@@jlo1423 I am not interested in DeBeers monopoly on diamonds. The fact is the consensus seems to be deduced from replies on here, including one from a professional Geologist, that moissanite is a beautiful lab grown stone.

my center stone for my engagement ring is a Moissanite and I love it! It is absolutely beautiful!
I love my ring and I picked it out. It’s big N beautiful and it didn’t break my hubby’s bank
Jewellers will tell you go for moissanite because it cost them pennies and they make hundreds/thousands from silly uneducated people.
yes a true moissanite does shine rainbows more than diamonds, unlike fake cubic zirconia.
@@jlo1423 A true moissanite is beautiful but some sellers try to pass off the fake cubic zirconia as moissanite and that is probably why you are so against lab grown diamonds and moissanite which are both very expensive to buy unlike cheap cubic zirconia lol
@@janrose7897 i would encourage you to do your research or read over my last statement again.
I've had a moissanite engagement ring for several years, and I'm always glad we picked it instead of a diamond. It's beautiful!

My fiancé gave me my fave cut in a moissanite. Having an asscher cut has always been my dream, and he did it so right. It’s brilliance is gorgeous, and I get so many compliments. I’m also very happy he didn’t spend a ridiculous amount of money for it.
Your new wedding date is my birthday!!
But cheap and a fake diamond

True. I've fooled jewellers in bright lights. It's when your in cosy, soft lights, you see it's more green blue light that bounces off. But in very bright lights, it looks like a diamond.
@@jlo1423 it's not fake. It's a gem in it's own right. Cubic zirconia is acting at fake diamond, because it's not a gem. It's glass
My moissanite ring cost about $600. Couldn't be happier! The thought of spending thousands on a ring always seemed ridiculous to me 🤷♀️ and I'm so glad there's a great alternative
Just bought a moissanite! Totally amazed by the sparkle and fire! Gorgeous ring

Hi Jordan,
I am a big fan of your channel! I just wanted to thank you for introducing me to moissanite. I am currently in community college, and this video inspired me to write a discussion post about the chemical properties of moissanite and include some of the benefits you talk about. I hope some of my classmates enjoy the discussion!
My ring is gorgeous, I get compliments daily because it's big but not grossly big. And surrounded by other stones with twiting post with even more stones up the sides of the engagement ring and the wedding band. It's moissanite. It's dazzling and I adore it!! It sparkles sooooo much I love it.
I would absolutely love a 1.5 Ca "crushed ice", "princess" 90° turned moissanite with 3 little accompanied stones on each side 😍
Me, too. It's the sparkle
Debeers isn't the only place to sell diamonds ffs, people are so misinformed. Shop around and you can find very affordable diamonds. I should know, I own several pieces that didn't rob me blind.

That's not correct...but it depends what you mean by "reflect".

I , personally, do not want any part of the process of obtaining diamonds for marketing sells
I would love to see you do a comparison of clear sapphires and moissanite!
Sapphires tho
(Then again i am a sucker for pretty colours)
You can get those lab-grown, too, and get other lab-grown stones in different colors to resemble other stones =)
moissanites can be bought in colors too.

Love mossanite, brilliant stone. Always ask for the certificate of authenticity and check the laser etching. Anyway it was De Beers diamond advertising idea, to make it a girls best friend . So almost 3 years later and I'm sill engagement ring-less because the price sky rocketed. Our 10 year wedding anniversary is August 2022 and I'm trying to find a reasonable place that sell this stone. Either way, BEST STONE EVER!
