As much as I like Samsung, there is no way the bill of materials rose that much and isn't being passed on. That's just not possible. The story isn't true. Just because companies have list prices for items, doesn't mean a company like Samsung doesn't negotiate huge discounts for their massive order size. I think most consumers just don't realise how cheap goods are to produce in bulk. An example being when Apple sell adapters for $30, they likely paid less than 50 cents to produce it. The prices claimed in the media to manufacture items, like smartphones, is exaggerated for sure. Otherwise consumers wouldn't be so understanding of the difference between manufactured cost and retail.
