I was an Industrial Design major at Uni here in the Pacific Northwest of the US years ago, but our program was part of the Engineering department rather than Fine Arts as it may be elsewhere - so we had a mix of both Studio Art and foundational Engineering practices, including welding, foundry and forming, applied plastics technology, and materials science. I would love to get back into doing casting (either sand or lost wax).
From what I read in other comments in other videos, the glass helps remove/reduce impurities. It can also be accomplished by using borax (also called flux). I think that that’s the white powder he added in the crucible after the metal.

Or does it change the metal somehow, making it harder to work with, or can you just go over and over, like when learning, to save product, to just remelt over and over?? Red anvil didn't melt away, he just didn't show the part where he pulls the mold back apart and removes the anvil......
Brass is copper and zinc, with a 3 to 2 ratio and bronze in 90ish% copper and 10ish% tin
