The 1st of them is a massive bunch of keys sent to me by a subscriber and the other is just a big brass block that i make into a heap of oversized coins and some skulls. HOW TO MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it??????.

I keep all my steel and cast iron pieces and I give them to my friend and once he gets about a tonne from me and his own collecting he takes that to the scrapyard and sells it then he buys some beer and comes over to my house and we make a night of it.
No My friend doesn’t have a TH-cam channel he just scraps metal in his spare time.

I would agree, but I just realized that armour ain't gonna help unless it's light and bullet proof and you're going against scavengers or gangs with guns.
Other than that, the armour would prolly show the dood down too much sadly enough.

Problem there .... you are assuming that, if there was an apocalypse, he would be able find/get enough propane to melt his casted metals ..... and then there would be the time factor for the melting, casting, forging, hammering, to make enough plate to assemble a suit of armor for himself ...... what about his pooches and then there is his wife (am assuming he is wedded) ..... the apocalypse would be over by the time he was finished. :0D
Your ingots seem to be getting better with every video. You do an amazing job, that I can tell you! I have always wanted to have a forge and be able to do this, but at this time I do not have the money to do so, but hopefully I will be able too before I loose all of my vision. Until then, I can watch a master at work! Thank you!

I’ve worked in the melt industry;
Have poured grey & ductile iron, plain carb & stainless and vacuüm poured aluminum turbocharger wheels..
Is boric acid your best flux?
Do you have any type of pyrometer?
Do you use any coating in your block mold?
The aluminum keys you leave in your charge - improve fluidity?
(Alot of our ladle adds contained Al for that reason)
Have you found a “sweet spot “ temp for pouring?
Fascinated with your set up and results.

It helps to seperate the slag and the metal, so that it can be scooped out easier.
