  • What are the origins of the Europeans and do they really belong to a single "race"? Today we'll be looking at the genetic evidence behind the evolution of the indigenous people of Europe and how they've become the modern nations and phenotypes we see today.
    Many of the reasons for the diverse phenotypes, genetics, languages and cultures of the modern European continent will be explored today, even stretching back thousands of years. Additionally, we'll be going over a brief overview of the European diaspora worldwide and how this has affected the definitions of the White or European race. Thanks for watching!

    How European people divide Europa:
    people who drink beer (central, north, British Isles)
    people who drink wine (south, south west)
    People who drink wodka/rakija (east)

      If so, then division would be a bit different:
      1. Southwest Europe - people who drink wine, as grape grows well within their lands;
      2. Central Europe - people who drink beer, for hops are plentiful in their lands;
      3. Northern Europe - people who drink strong spirits, for it is the most effective way of getting drunk;
      and 4. Eastern Europe - people who drink whatever they have, be it vodka, beer, wine, rakija, rum, tequila, pure ethanol... For 'When you're drunk, you don't look around much, and it's easier to live this way - when no other way can be seen' ("Спьяну жизнь херово видно - даже легче жить"™ - Сектор Газа).

      It's also quite wrong to claim that "Caucasian" is synonymous with "European". The Aryans originally came from Asia, as even "Masaman" grudgingly admits, but he's somewhat inaccurate with his geography regarding the origin point. He asks if the Aryans could actually be referred to as "Europeans" even after admitting they are not originally from Europe. That Eurocentric bias is apparently difficult to let go of.

      Indeed, in some American films, Russians look like Arabs or Semites. For example, my favorite actor Omar Sharif plays in the movie "Doctor Zhivago". But he is an Arab by origin, and does not look like a Russian at all. It is true that in Hollywood films Russians were often portrayed by Russian-speaking Jews who left the USSR in the 70s of the 20th century. But Americans did not make a difference between those who speak Russian and Russians by nationality. Therefore, the immigrant Jews who portrayed Russians in Hollywood films looked very comical. Especially when they wore "Russian national shirts-kosovorotki" and hats with earflaps.

      I don't think the diversity in looks of Europeans is really the point here. People who argue with less European=more diverse literally don't understand the meaning of the word.
      Example: If you have a group of three Europeans and replace one of them with an Indian and one with a Chinese person, it becomes more diverse. If you put a few Europeans in a Japanese movie it becomes more diverse. If you replace a completely European cast with 100% Bantus it's not any more diverse than before.

      This is Propaganda. Look at DNA studies that have already been published and you will see that Cro Magnon Man =Modern man, is geneticly isolated from all other types hominids on the planet that live today. European, Caucasian, White man, is geneticly different and has different ancestors from the other hominids on the planet. More recent genetic studies have shown ALL ancient Pharoahs in Egypt were of Caucasian ancestry, not black African.. Neanderthals NEVER..... Let me repeat that, Neanderthals NEVER mixed geneticly with Black African people or the Black Race. Never. That's why black people have ZERO percent Neanderthal DNA admixture.! 0%. OK. So, understand what that means...? Are you following me here? We are not all the same, we are all Sub Species of human! We have different sub species of Cats, Dogs, etc.... So it's very clear that we are not in any way different, in that aspect, from other living creatures here on earth with us. Our physical traits are determined by the DNA we get from our parents. The way we develop physically mentally and emotionally is determined by our DNA and the environment one grows up in. That includes the physical environment, the family environment, and upbringing of that individual interacting with the DNA to produce the outcome. This is called your genotype and your phenotype. So if you're still following me you can now understand why the physical traits may appear different but the underlying genetics are the same. It doesn't mean that the people of the caucus mountains today are the same people of the caucus mountains thousands of years ago. What you need to understand is the physical environment being so much different it will change the physical appearance of the individual as well. Certain physical traits will develop in place of others because the environment dictates and the genetics will alter themselves to survive in that environment the best they can. It is very simple. If a population of people are in the Sun a lot more, generation after generation after generation, the physical characteristics will change according to that environment. Just like if somebody lives in a very cold environment, they're always indoors, their body doesn't absorb direct sunlight because they are always covered up, they will in turn develop different physical characteristics and their genetics will adapt to help ensure survival. That's how it works. These are changes that take a long time to change the entire population but every one of us grows up and our genotype is interacting with our phenotype. If you took the time to read this I appreciate that and I hope you can do some more research for yourself and follow the truth. Everybody has unique characteristics and they can be celebrated and they can be loved. everybody needs to accept our differences, embrace our differences, and live with knowledge of truth, that's the only way that we can come together. Acting like everybody is the same and we should all think the same and act the same as just not logical and it's not reality. Thank you. I hope you are all Blessed. All Sub Species of people.

      Most Spaniards and Portuguese people are a mix of Celts, Greeks, Romans, Visigoths, Suebis, Vandals, Alans, North Africans, Jews, Gypsies and believe it or not... Vikings, who
      Invaded the Iberian southern region in the 11 century and fail at conquering it and got stranded, ending up there and mixing with the Arabic and north Africans that were living there during the age of the Muslim kingdoms of Andalusia in the midle ages. All those groups came to the Iberian peninsula in a period of some 4000 thousands years at different times by military Invasions and wars, and end up settling there, mixing with the whatever group was there before... That is why Spain and Portugal are so rich in culture, language and art, and why you have so many good-looking people in those countries. The languages that are spoken in the Iberian Peninsula so the modern Castilian that is spoken in Latin America today are mostly a mix of different languages from all those groups' trough out the centuries, specially Roman Latin, Goth and Arabic (with the exception of the Basque language that to these days no one know where it comes from but some scholars have found Sumerian words in it. In modern Latin America today, many Spaniards and Portuguese ended up mixing with the natives population and in some regions like Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Colombia, Venezuela etc... with Black slaves...that's why we have today so many Mexicans, Latin and Central American people with native American facial and skin features in them, so African features and dark or reddish skin color tones as well... And the reason why so many White and Black US citizens who have mostly, a poor public education about the world so their own history as a nation, get so confuse trying to identify what race the Latin American people are when interacting with them, so why they get so confuse when encountering a Latin American, Spaniard or a Portuguese person that look like a German or an Irish looking European to them but speak Spanish or Portuguese .... that by the way, they are white...Knowledge is power. Are you willfully blind to headlines that don't suit how you wish things were or are you hungry for as much anti-american rhetoric as you can stomach? Europe, especially the UK, seems to be having a rise in such discussions, especially as your once almost entirely pasty continent becomes more and more colorful. I have heard or read numerous Europeans of non-native descent describe themselves as "Afro-French or Black British or Turkish German or British Indian," even if the native white population is too scared, politically correct or ideological to say it.The whole race conversation is an unfortunate part of being a multiracial country, especially one that has been multiracial from the start and which began in a much more unenlightened time like the US is and was. Plus, all those pasties didn't just spring up out of the ground on the North American continent, they had to come from somewhere else and bring their racial and ethnic ideas from the continent they came from... hint, that continent is west of Asia and north of Africa. I believe many if not most of the race "scientists" of the 17th to early 20th century were from Europe, especially England, France and Germany. Rudyard Kipling's "White Man's Burden" ring a bell? Or the race based slavery, social whitening, European-exclusive immigration policies and apartheid systems that ALL whites outside of Europe inherited from good ole Europa? I think your comment is confirming the stereotype of the stuffy, elitist, cosmopolitan, irrationally anti-American Eurotrash that I despair to see when I have otherwise decent conversations and debates with people from the old continent, whether indigenous or of immigrant descent. Try to wise up a bit with the rhetoric and anti-American fanaticism and be honest or do your research. Good day sir, just a bit of a clear up for any lurkers.

That said, it's funny how everybody mention those North Africans (which again, are very different from Arabs) but no one mentions the jews, lol. Spain was also occupied by them. Let’s be realistic here, it’s now become square to be White in Western culture. Now I hate how humans have divided us in to such broad racial categories myself, but it’s actually not so simple to distinguish most Europeans by their complexion & physical traits. I’ve met Nordic people that looked more like a stereotypical Mediterranean and I’ve known many Greeks or Sicilians that looked more like a stereotypical German. For example, both sides of my family are from Southern Italy, my complexion is somewhat fair, I had medium brown hair in my younger days & my eyes are blue. Now my best childhood friend is a 1st generation Czech American, and he had jet black hair, black eyes and tans very well. I’ve even met Swedes and Finns with darker complexion than myself, and I’m not exactly Albino pale. I’d love to live in a world with less racial/ethnic division, but realistically ancestral Europeans are too genetically similar to distinguish into separate racial categories; historically, it’s probably the least genetically diverse continent in the world. The vast diversity of very distinguishable groups of people in larger continents like Africa, Asia or the Americas, is why the mostly indistinguishable Europeans tend to fall under one racial category.

      From the Census: Hispanic origin can be viewed as the heritage, nationality, lineage, or country of birth of the person or the person’s parents or ancestors before arriving in the United States. People who identify as Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish may be any race. The 2020 Census asks about being Hispanic or Latino in addition to race. Hispanic and Latino is not one of the race categories. They as people to answer both questions: "Is Person 1 of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin?
      NOTE: Please answer both Question 8 about Hispanic origin and Question 9 about race. For this census, Hispanic origins are not races. As a Portuguese, I laughed when the US Census defined Portugal as a "white country" but not Spain, cause like... DNA ascendency tests can't even tell us apart xD they don't define you as Portuguese/Spanish, they define it as Iberian and leave you to guess which one, which means we have a really close genetic code.
    It makes even less sense that North African countries are back to being considered white when Spain wasn't, but I focused on Portugal cause we are literally that close on DNA xD Overall, I think we are all Caucasians, Spanish included xD
    Edit: apparently everyone is ranting at me so let me clear this out: I didn't say portuguese weren't white. I meant that Spanish are hella white, just as much as the portuguese, and the fact that northern africa is considered white by americans when Spanish aren't is a joke. So there you have. I NEVER SAID PORTUGUESE ARE NOT WHITE.

Jeffrey Armstrong, mentioned in the claim, is not a widely recognized historian, so his views should be seen as perspectives rather than established historical facts. Because I can’t imagine an actual Middle Eastern or Mediterranean European person actually stating something like that. You do know native west Africans come in all shades, mostly dark brown, to dark skin, to light skin, and some even pale. During slavey, some AAs mixed with Europeans and some were raped. Their complexion doesn't really have much to do with it because the majority still have the same complexion range as us West Africans from dark skin to light skin to pale. Black americans mixed with other pure Africans and AAs after mixing with Europeans so their complexion wouldn't really be affected at all. It's more so their facial structures/features that have changed in many of them. Many have narrower noses, curlier hair, and lighter colored eyes (West Africans can have lighter eyes it's just not as predominant as it is in black americans).

      That isn't the US census which has 6 categories. It is all the other demographic questionnaires that you have to fill out for jobs and schools based on affirmative action and anti discrimination policies in place since 1965. Hispanics are treated as a race, because so many people from central and south America identify that way and it is a chance for them to be counted as one group. So it includes Spain, if people want it to. Most people I know of spanish descent claim white

      A possible explanation for this, is that people who aren't white, are given preference over others for jobs, entry into school etc.

      @@addis8228There isn't any amongst the real bulgarians, interbreeding between the different races/religions in the Rum Millet was strictly frowned uppon and forbbiden. Although turks would like to think there was a substantial mix in the 5 centuries of ottoman yoke over Bulgaria, it was not the case. Fathers of both sides, would simply not allow their daughters to marry or be taken by the other side, the different neighborhoods of the different cities in Bulgaria, which were under one ethnic group didn't allow others, they beat those that entered.
      On the other theme, for my fellow bulgarian that started this thread and for Masaman, to help him if he see's this comment.
      Modern Bulgarians, like any other modern nation in the world, are an amalgamation of almost all previous ethnic groups that lived here in present day Bulgaria. The main three one being Bulgarians/ Proto-Bulgars/bulgarians(Different terms about the same ethnic group, just used to diffirantiate between Kubrat's-Boris's bulgarians and after the reforms of Omurtag, Krum(First law codes in Bulgaria and the splitting of the tribal organisations of Bulgars and Slavs, reorganising them into the Komitatenses/themes like administrative divisions) and Boris(Christined the nation). Genetic testing can even point out when was the largest mix between all the groups living in Bulgaria. The years between 850 and 950, the years of the afformentioned reformers and most succesfull rulers.
      Alongside those main three groups, there are others that played a substantial role in the makeup of our future nation. Such as the germanics, celts, greeks, pechenegs, cumans(Our aristocracy in the Second Bulgarian Empire was largely cuman) and so on. The cuman's role is especially understated.
      This diversity can really be seen, when looking at modern bulgarians. I am black haired and brown eyes, like most of my families on both sides, but we also have people with blue and green eyes. As do many other bulgarians.
      If i am not mistaken this is how the "phenotype"-make up is sitting right now- 46 percent mediteraneean, 36 northern or baltic, plus other ones like asian and so on.
      P.s Most of the stuff i've said is true, but all of it is off the top of my head and really doesn't go into detail. If Masaman is to make a video on THIS topic, he should study and read a lot, and i MEAN a lot!
      Good luck if you do!

      @Jumala It's similar to in Europe. In France for Instance, first it was the Gauls/Celts. Then the Romans took over, but the normal people were still mostly Gauls. Then after Rome fell, the Franks came in and took over. But the normal people were still mainly Gauls. But over time their culture faded away and they blended in. Then the Norse came to Normandy and eventually became the Normans.
      The Norse started Kievan Rus in East Europe, but the people were mostly Slavs, and the Norse eventually mixed in.
      In Britain, at first it was the Britons/Celts. (And I say first as far as we know. Who knows who was there before.) Then the Angles and the Saxons came over. They mixed and blended with those who were there before. Then the Norse came over and mixed. Then the Anglo-Saxons pushed them out, then they came back, pushed out, etc. Then the Normans came over and took over, bringing French law and words. But they were always an elite ruling class, and didn't replace the Anglo-Saxons, eventually mixing in.
      And it is the same in Anatolia. Greece ruled over Anatolia from Alexander the Great, pre 300 BC, through the Roman Empire, to the Byzantine Empire. Antioch and Alexandria were great Greek cities in what we now think of as the Middle East, Islamic and Arab territory. Even Iraq was once a great Greek Province, but that didn't last so long. But Anatolia was fully Hellenized over almost 2000 years! So when the Turks took over, just like in Western Europe, they merely ruled over a Hellenized underclass. And I could definitely see how, over time, especially when the Turks are 1st class citizens, and everyone else is restricted (which happened elsewhere as well), there would be those who just melded in.
      It's sad that so much was lost. Every civilization in the European Area, including the Middle East, owes a debt to the Greeks.
