I just love your videos...I've gained so much knowledge..I'm 34 weeks.ill be delivering at NY PRESBYTERIAN in Manhattan..Do you know if the peanut ball is used at NYC hospitals?
Hey mandy, I’m a doula in training. I’ve attended 3 births so far but i have found myself during labor with my clients being nervous to suggest these positions in fear of the nurses. How would I suggest these positions? Would I ask the nurse for her help or just do it on my own?
Don't be nervous:) I would suggest both... Since you would breed to get the balls from them and they would respect you
I often like to just say “I’d like to do some positioning with the peanut ball to give baby some more room to come down” and they will usually respond by helping to get Mama in position (if they are familiar with peanut ball positioning) or they will say “That sounds like a great idea” and will be happy to watch and learn something they may have not seen before. Doulas can help make nurses job easier. Create an environment of working together but don’t be shy to take the initiative on your own as well - the client has hired and invited you to their birth to do just that!
My hospital doesn’t offer these would be weird if I got one a brought to the hospital? I’m already planning to bring my birth ball
