I've learned a lot about Fred Dinenage, he is somewhat of a legend in UK television. Best known as a sports and newscaster/anchorman.

These players were setting each other on FIRE! And I love this music!
It may not be Wink Martindale, but this Fred Dinenage is fantastic!
    GREAT POST! I LOVE IT!

I notice that the displays and sound effects were also used in "Sale of the Century". Reasonable, since both shows were produced by Anglia.

In 1983 Both Sale Of The Century & Gambit used LCD displays for the scoring.

Fred Dinenage was replaced by Tom O Connor as the host of Gambit in 1983.

Gambit, Sale of The Century, Survival and Tales Of The Unexpected. Not forgetting The Zodic Game.
Those were the days. Not bad for a small ITV region producing some of the best shows of the time for the ITV network.

Dont forget Knightmare & Lucky Ladders as they were made by Anglia Television as well.

This show was another format imported from the US. It originally began airing on CBS daytime in September 1972 with Wink Martindale as host and Elaine Stewart as dealer. This version would last until December 1976. It would be revived for NBC daytime in October 1980 as "Las Vegas Gambit". Martindale returned as host, but the dealer at the start was Beverly Malden. She would soon be replaced by Lee Menning. This would air until November 1981. There would later be a show somewhat based on this format that would start airing on GSN in July 2008 as "Catch 21". Alfonso Ribeiro was host and Mikki Padilla was the dealer. Original episodes would air until July 2011.

8 years later catch 21 returned. Alfonso still was host, but Whitney Carson (she and Alfonso are both DWTS champions) took over as dealer.

Fred Dinenage looks exactly the same in 2016 as he did in 1981.

He has only just retired from doing 'Meridian Tonight' recently. I first saw him on TV in about 1968. I'm 60 now.

This is interesting that this is a British program and they use almost the Same eggcrate readout as we do here in America.

The host, Fred Dineage, reminds me a little bit of Bernie Kopell from The Love Boat. The dealer on this show, Michelle, sure is pretty.
