I was in between a Scout & Harley Street Bob at first. Then heard about the release of the Chief Darkhorse which became my first bike purchase in May & I'm loving every bit of it!

I was looking for a Scout as my first bike but I did not want to wait. No dealerships around me had any scouts or chief models to test ride and pre-ordering was 3 months out so I ended up on a Harley Sportster Iron 1200.

I hear you. I was on the table tryna get a street bob and idk Harley couldn’t make the numbers work. But when I went to Indian. I seen the chief bobber and instantly fell in love. This was my first road bike I ever bought and I got no regrets.

I seriously think that the indian chief is one of the best looking cruisers that you can get today. It is a little expensive, but everything from the looks to the ride to the engine is all perfect in my opinion. I think Indian really nailed exactly what a cruiser should be.

I didn’t go to Arizona and I don’t have a TH-cam motorcycle channel, but I do own a Chief Bobber Dark Horse. I took delivery March 27. I immediately added forward facing high flow intake and de-baffled Stage1 slip-ons. They look and sound better than the stock intake and exhaust. In July - I added a Stage2 kit. (bigger throttle body, high flow fuel injectors and cams) This really transformed the bike. The “built” 116 is a beast. Brute horsepower and awesome torque coming from a 116 stuffed into a 695 lbs bike. Acceleration is breathtaking. It is addictive. The bike pulls like an angry mule on steroids! Lean angle and brakes are adequate for a bobber. Handling is very good. Comfort on longer rides is Ok. I took one 180 mile day ride with my IMRG and I survived, but the Chief Bobber is a bar hopper not a highway bike. Both my son-in-laws liked my bike so much they both purchased one. M has a 111Chief Bobber Ruby Red and J is waiting for a matte grey Dark Horse. Projected lead time from order to delivery is 6-8 weeks according to our dealer. I have about $25,000 total in my Chief now with the performance modifications. I am very satisfied and have had zero problems. (I also own a 2021 Scout Bobber, 2021 Vintage and a 2019 FTR-RR.)

Coming out of a 1200 Sportster I am looking into the Scout Bobber Twenty vs the Chief Bobber Dark Horse. What're your thoughts on the two bikes? I'm 170 lbs and 5'10" sportster was totally fine size was for me just ready for a change in bike.

    • @mark.lb116
      @mark.lb116 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I own a 2021 Scout Bobber. The biggest difference “in my opinion” is weight and the way the engines feels. At 150 lbs less than the Chief the Scout feels lighter, more nimble, flickable and easier to turn. It stops faster in a hurry up situation. The Scout engine is powerful but has a lot less torque. That power comes at much higher RPM than a 116 Thunderstroke. The Chief is a torque monster. It is a very different animal than the Scout. Both are great bike and are super fun to ride but feel very different.

After I saw your video in Sedona, I went to my local Indian dealer and test rode the Chief. I loved it and walked out with it like an hour later. I do wish they had the Darkhorse at that time but I was such in love with the bike that i settled on the Chief. I did get the Stage 1 forward aircleaner and DeanSpeed Rampage exhaust since the stock is really..silent. Still an amazing bike after 3 months.

  • @ed751

I just bought it over the weekend. I'm still in break-in mode. So far I have nothing to complain about. I like how it handles on the road feels very solid. I'm looking forward to your dyno test.

    • @ed751
      @ed751 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@Handsome Shrek in my opinion the bike has alot of power to move around especially on the highway. It also feels solid and handles extremely well. If your familiar with the goat trail going towards peekskill its a very curvy road and the bike seems to ride itself right through the curves. My opinion is definitely one sided. I really enjoy riding this bike.

Definitely interested. Rode the Dark Horse on a demo-ride a few weeks ago. Handling seemed lackluster but it was a shorter demo-ride. This bike stays at the top of my list because it’s probably the best looking cruiser on the current market.

I have one myself and I love every single thing about it except that seat. I even bought the extended reach seat and it's quite literally the worst seat I've ever ridden on. To me the closest bike to it I can think of is the Softail Slim. Could you go over adjusting the rear shocks? I've never done it and I'm afraid I'm going to screw up my bike.

@@daveshultz3789 you can always swap a few parts out for leather pros instead of the factory hard bags. You can always get the tour pack designed for the sport glide or you can get aftermarket hardware designed specifically to mount any of the Harley tour packs onto a Softtail quick disconnect brackets. Those are the budget ways to get a Softtail up to touring size luggage capacity.

I have been watching motorcycle videos for months now and narrowed it down to the following list:
    - Indian Scout Rogue
    - Indian Chief and Bobber Dark Horse
    - Honda Rebel 1100
A metric cruiser is on the list because I life in Europe in the middle of the Alps. I‘m over 40 and this is my first serious bike purchase (with little experience) so I wonder if you would recommend the Bobber Dark Horse as a first bike for a responsible driver. I‘m 6‘1 tall. The Scout feels kind of too low for me.

My 08 Sportster is air cooled I ride pretty much every day in Phoenix AZ and don’t have problems with heat from the bike, cause it’s actively using air to cool it lol engineers know what they’re doing. Especially if you keep moving. And I think this specific bike has a temp reading you can keep track of lol

Kudos to Indian for the air cooled 116 thunderstroke engine. That's the best way to go. Less parts, less issues; no leaks, no worrying about over heating when sitting still at an idle, etc. My biggest gripe with Indian is the length of the mufflers.... Really ??? It makes the bike look weird. The only thing that should really be sticking out past the the back of the rear tire is nothing.

Have tried the after market items and although descriptions say it will fit/work they don’t with significant modifications.

I have a 2022 t100 also that I can't ride, because of the poor design, that sticks the rear shock, right up your tail bone! A new seat did not even help one bit, because of the fact that they planted the rear shock right under the seat at a straight vertical position, how stupid of a design can you get? And I was a suckered to buy one without considering how it was made! I really have to try hard to forgive myself for making such a crucial mistake. Now I'm paying for a motorcycle that I can't afford to ride without injuring my body.

That 4 inch display on the cheif is also leaps and bounds over the infotainment systems on the bigger bikes Harley has. Harley did the same thing on my sportster and I love it.

I also hear the heat from the exhaust is a problem on your right leg? What do you think of highway bars and front foot control pegs? What is your impression of the navigation. Some say it loses signal? Also with spoked rims is there any added maintenance compared to a steel rim? One more question , When you have your phone connected to the bike can you still comfortable listen to music or is the exhaust in standard mode to noisy to hear inside your helmet? Sorry for the questions , I am a green horn to Indian bikes but super stoked to get mine! Keep making videos!

Done 300 ish in a day. It's way more comfortable than the 60. I feel in 300 like I did 130-150 miles on a scout. I got the super chief

I have a 11 year old Victory XC that I have ridden since new. The cruise control controls are on the right also. Must be a Polaris thing. Now that you have conquered Sugarloaf Mountain, try Mt. Dora and Mt. Plymouth.

Would love to hear from your side about this bike being set up for a longer trip. How it handles with some luggage. Would it be a reasonal bike for a longer holiday trip, like with (saddle)bags and some more (just for that holiday trip)?

On mine, its the right trigger. You pull it and it will take you to the screen and you hold on the trigger and it will select the mode switch and then tap until you get the mode you want. Then hold the trigger again to confirm...but i dont have the ride command.

Checked it out at the dealer today. To get to the different modes quickly you hold the right trigger i believe and it goes right to it. That wasn’t the dark horse model though- so it may be different? Give it a try

Not sure if you can easily answer this, BlockHead, or if anyone else has thoughts please chime in. I've heard few people say the difference between the 116 and the 111 is not big enough to warrant the Dark Horse Price tag (if you don't care for the tech or look). They mentioned the 111 feels like it has more natural torque. Thoughts?

I'm looking to add a bike to my garage. Currently on a 2019 Roadking stage 3. Looking for something that's a little more comfy than the 2022 low rider s. I'm 62 and don't care for the riding position of the "S". I also like the idea of two rear shocks like the Dyna used to have or still has. I'm gonna try to test ride this bike. I like the way it looks a lot. The looks along with a 116" motor attracted me to the bike. I may turn it into a club style bike.

I like the bike a lot. Definitely a raw, in your face slap of 45 degree air cooled power. Not as much pep as the Scout or my sportster s but I think the classic styling makes up for the speed. Shes a looker!

Looking at the new 2022 Chief 11/21. For a 5' 6" height rider, how is the seat/handlebar ergo setup? I do not like forward leaning position. Was considering a leftover 2021 Vintage because long riding would be unquestionable very comfortable. Also, can one add an Oil Cooler to help drop the eng.temp?

How does it handle in the curves ? Do i need to push the bike to the curves or is in intuitive and easy ? Is it comfortable after 2 hours in the seat ? And how does the fuel consumption looks, 5 L / 100 Km ? Thx for the answers :o) I am on the search for my second bike and i do LOVE the new Indian Chief ! :D

We heard you say in FL, we're in Florida also. How did you get indian to loan your the cheif dark horse? My wife wants one so bad, but wants to ride it first. But the issue is like no one in the state of FL has a cheif for her to ride. Thanks bud ride safe and keep your two wheels on the ground

How do you like the mirrors? Also, I've considered this bike as a second bike but the Challenger is a bit more appealing. I would like something to use for longer trips and I like the frame mounted fairing like the Road Glide. I've been commuting this year on a Triumph Trident and am considering the FTR as a replacement. I like how light the Triumph is, it is a piece of cake to get around on, but it lacks as a hooligan when you want it.

I would love to get one of these bikes. The only real down side is the fact that there is NO aftermarket parts and accessories that I’ve come across for it. I have an Indian FTR 1200 and it’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. I love what Polaris has done with the Indian brand. I would like to see them compete more with Harley Davidson when it comes to aftermarket accessories. That and they need to fire the guy who designed the seats for Indian. Every Indian I’ve ridden has always had seat issues. You hear about it constantly with the scouts.

Have they fixed the rev match issue? When I test rode a couple Indians, (scout, scout 60, Springfield, and chief) the chief was the only one I couldn't rev match on down shifts. The throttle response on sport mode was still too laggy or wouldn't respond at all on the down shift.
