I just got my new X-T50 a few days ago and I love it! It's so fun to shoot with it. The new automatic mode is a total game changer. The camera is smart enough to know what I am shooting and set everything up correctly I can still change the film simulation and other details. I never liked auto mode from any brands before, but the X-T50 simply opens up a new world. Very impressive!! For those who are unsure about this camera, rent one and test it for a few days, I'm sure you'll love it.
I see only one reason to buy x-t50. It's get a paid for ads from Fuji. In all other cases x-t5 wins.
as if x-t5 is not heavily marketed like any product in this industry and forsaken youtube platform lmao most of gear videos are making this platform a marketing hell I'd agree on that tho
Everyone’s is different, but for me, the better battery, tilt screen and weatherproofing is enough of a difference for me to choose an XT-5 over the XT-50.
Same! And don't forget the dual card slots! I'm so happy with my X-T30II and will not upgrade. But if I was to do so it would be the X-T5 for sure!
@@dep1001
Hold the X-T5 before making that decision, I found it to be bulkier than I thought it would be when actually holding it.
I would like the 2 way tilt screen and everything you said but I'll get IBIS and an upgraded sensor and that's enough (I'm still on x-t2 and x-t1, an upgrade is overdue 😂 ). Won't buy it at that price tho. I'll wait thanks
What's the appropriate lens for a beginner using xt 50
Thanks James. Can you do some more on your XT50 set ups and top tips. One thing I noticed is that now they set everything to OFF in the default menu which makes more sense. For example, turning off the AF button light or shutter sound
As someone that shoots, with the X-T3 and X100 VI (and have access to X-T5 and other cameras)
here in the UK - the body only price difference is £150.00 between the X-T5 and X-T50
for that £150.00 you are getting a bigger battery, WR, Dual card slots, and Tethering support
However, when you look at the Kit price with the new XF 16-50 that price difference increases to £400 (the new X-T5 kit is priced more than the existing kits with 18-55 or 16-80) and if next month the price for the body only of the X-T5 returns to £1699, then there will be a £400 difference there too.
To be honest, the change of battery would not bother me that much, as the new battery lasts almost twice as long (X-T5 compared to X-T3), but I was happy that when I got the X100 VI I already had several batteries
As someone that has various Fujifilm cameras that I use professionally, I don't need to upgrade anything to get professional results, the X-T3 hit a sweet spot. The X-T5 we have was for a specific use case (that would benefit from 40MP) and the X100VI was purchased, because I wanted it, but will make full use in the studio of the 1/2000 sync speed of the shutter with flashes ;)
I love the look of the X-T50 and if I wanted a walk around camera for me, and didn't have the X100VI I'd be looking for the first Fuji sale and grab one for £1000
I think in about 6 months you’ll pick one up for that price - body only
How about a comparison with the xt 30?
No single mention about xt-5 wather sealing, better EVF, better shutter etc, and there is a reason for another type of battery iin XT-5, it's almost 2 times more shots in it than xt-50 battery. Don't get me wrong, I like the xt-50, but when comparing to xt-5 there is only reason to get it over xt-5 is saving 119g in weight and size.
I tried both cameras at the Fujifilm store and found the X-T50 to be more comfortable to hold. I guess you'd have to try them to see the difference.
He probably didn't mention it because the point of the video was to stick with the actual core difference, which is form factor. Every single comment section imaginable is inundated with people seemingly hunting specifically for X-T50 content so they can go way out of their way to let everyone know how upset they are that weather sealing wasn't included and BUH, BUH it's 119 grams lighter or whatever. The X-T50 is significantly smaller and lighter, the exact amount of weight doesn't matter. Hold them next to each other. One is a full size, the other is a compact, end of debate.
It has a smaller (not worse... >smaller
If you expect that in a video like this, you're so wrong lol.
I'm with you on this. With the X-T50 price tag, the X-T5 makes more sense. Really hope that the rumored upcoming X-E5 is more reasonably priced.
Hey Georgy! I’ve mentioned in the video that the XT5 is more catered for pros but ofc has additional features that can be enjoyed by casuals. But for folks like myself who just want a light system just for fun, XT50 fits the bill!
Mentioning every nuances of XT5 would be redundant esp since the aim of the video is help folks who are just looking for a casual experience.
I have a a7rv for work and wanted something fun casual small portable. Getting the charcoal grey one today. Portability and film simulation dial were my reasons or else would have went xt5 if pro work.
I'll get the x-t50 when price will drop same as I did for my x-t1, my x-t2 and several lenses. No need to buy brand new lol. I do feel like the upgraded sensor and IBIS are notable enough features for me.
the weight repartition is not important for me. What matters to me it total weight. No matter what a big lens will impact the experience just by its sheer weight. And if you hold too strong on a body attached to a heavier lens, you're making a mistake. Heavy lens should be the holding point, so as not to stress the mount too much. So yeah go lighter body. Just take care of the overall balance of your assembled gear and of your holding position in order to not drop the whole expensive package ;)
Agreed. I chose the Fuji system (ΧΤ-30) because of its compactness. If I wanted a bulkier body, I always have my Sony α7 ΙΙ available.
One annoyance I came up against when trying to do some product photography with my X-T30 is you can’t shoot it tethered, unlike the X-T5. I assume this limitation remains with the X-T50.
I agree with you about the battery. I would not change my X-T30 II for the new X-T50 if I had to buy a new set of batteries and a new charger. Thanks Fujifilm for that. And you for this video ;-)
Jason, I preordered the X100VI on February 20, and a recent email told me to expect delivery around August. Now I am reading about the XT-50 and it looks even better with interchangeable lenses. This is making me question the X100VI. Any thoughts/advice? I know you have both these cameras.
I'll step in while waiting for Jason to respond. I too have both, and it's nice to have a travel camera plus a "take to dinner with friends" camera. If I were only going to have one, it might very well be the XT50 because of the versatility with the lenses, although you lose the ND filter and the optical viewfinder. Look forward to Jason's response. I respect his viewpoint and enjoy his style of presentation. A waiter in laguna beach spotted my X100VI and we started chatting about it. We ended up talking about how much we enjoyed Jason's videos!
Also interested in this as I have an x100vi on order!
Just published a video regarding this but short answer: me and Vivienne are loving the XT50! Truly everything we love about the X100VI but with an interchangeable lens system! The photo quality are identical because of the same sensor. I think you should pull the trigger if you can't wait for the X100VI but August isn't too far off if you can hold on a little while longer!
@@charlesprice3300 wow really?? Small world!! 🥹 Appreciate the love guys, thank you so much!
Get the X-T50. X100VI is not pocketable, that’s the only advantage is could have over a non fixed lense camera, and you will get bored soon of shooting just with a 23mm f2. I got the X100V in 2020, well before the hype… I loved it but I got bored in less than a year (I sold it and went for an XT3). I’m a X-T5 user now and I cannot be happier.
Glad you like the x-T50, as it seems like a great camera. One other feature that may or may not be important to you, that I haven’t seen you mention, is that the X-T5 is weather sealed, and the 50 is not.
Not too important to me but I do understand the importance of it! I picked up this camera very casually and will likely not bring it out in crazy conditions.
X-T50 or X-T30ii what’s one is better for photos in real life? Is the £500 difference worth it?
same i wondering this too, i just barely interested of camera
@@chaitong6264 I am not fussed about the video side just want to know more about the photo side
@@JeffersMcJ maybe i go to xt-50 for long term coz 40mp and newer
@@chaitong6264 just a bit step in upfront cost. But does give you the long term use and being upto date
@@JeffersMcJ true bro
They're both excellent cameras! If you're also a Fuji GFX-shooter, the argument regarding batteries is reversed; the X-T5 has the same batteries as the GFX-series.
This is very true!
Nice video! Keep up this work! I like. All people that bash just try to justify their xt5 purchase. It s always the same story
No kidding, it’s tiresome. I own an XT5 and love it. It’s the best choice *for me*. The XT50 looks like another great Fuji camera and is going to be a great choice for many.
Well if you have to carry an extra battery or two around, the weight becomes less of a factor. Also, to pay that much for a camera you can only use in limited weather conditions and environments is crazy to me.
I picked up this camera for casual use and fun. I don’t often shoot in crazy weather conditions so it will be fine.
@jasonvongclips would love a video going over how you set your xt50 up. Been looking and not really a video yet since we are all barley getting them.
I forgot to mention that the X-T50 gets hot very easily. In my case, after 45 minutes of shooting at 20°C, the camera body became very hot. I hope fuji could release a new firmware to fix this, otherwise anyone who does a long time shooting should go for X-T5.
Yet X-T50 (as well as X-T5) has no fan support
I can confirm on my end too that I got a heat warning when filming videos outside. Granted it was an unusually humid day. Will report more if I run into any heat issues with the xt50!
@@theVONGopinion
Imagine how hot it would get if it had the WR people are crying for!
You should cover fuji xs20
The XT50 isn't weather sealed and the battery on the xt5 is the better battery. If you can get the xt5 used at the same price or close to, I don't see why you wouldn't buy the XT5 even with all your reasons for the xt50 🤷🏾
Size and weight.
I'm a strong man and in love with xT5
First time to know big battery is a con, am I not on earth?
i like your voice
If the camera would be closer in price to the X-T30 I would buy the X-T50 immediatelly. I really prefer the small camera as companion to my GFX 50R. But I picked the X-T5 instead. It is just so much more for the money. It just feels wrong to buy the X-T50.
no way...i got a xt5 at about 1.4k used barely 1k shutter and no signs of wear. Why would i get XT50? the battery is already smaller than XT5, it is not advertised as weather resistant, the new reala ace film simulation will be made available by end of june.
I’m glad the XT5 fits your needs! Enjoy it!!
Cmon man, nothing wrong with the xt50 but no way is it better than the xt5 in anyway whatsoever
Except for size and weight.
WR, much better video, dual card slot, much better battery and just 100 grams more. Decision is clear besides TH-cam trendy content.
Amazingly people have different requirements to you. I have no interest in the additional size and weight of the X-T5. Shocker, right?
Wait until your xt50 gets wet in Japan 😂
Come on, size wise there's no huge difference. It's not like DSLR vs Mirorless. 100-ish gram is nothing. And the sims dial, lol. How many times we switch film simulation, it's better for ISO dial. XT50 is cute but for that price, XT5 is a no brainer!
"size wise there's no huge difference"
To you. I would not have the X-T5 precisely because of its size and weight increase.
The only reason anyone should get the X-T50 is for that sexy ass color and portability son. The gray needs to be standard on all their models cause it's delicious mf
