The Fujifilm X-T5 has proven incredibly popular, and now we have a smaller, less expensive version with the same excellent 40MP sensor: the Fujifilm X-T50! What corners did Fujifilm have to cut to make this all possible? Chris Niccolls went to the Eau Claire Market mall days before it was demolished to find out.

The price jumped from 900 to 1400. That's insane. It's more expensive that X-S20, Sony a6700 and Canon R7. I know that new sensor is more expensive and addition of IBIS is also expensive, but still. They should have just add IBIS and price it at 1100 or 1200
Some brands have had IBIS built into every body, even the cheapest in the range, for many years but Fuji thinks it’s kind of a premium feature 🤷♂️
Inflation and the demand, so many cameras now a day have a backlog of orders after release.
You've answered your own question 😂
It is inflation. That makes the intro price for the 30 body only £1159 in 2024 money.
It does not look like semi pro camera. Price increase due to inflation and customer demand is out of control. Hopefully for smart photographers, a lot of used DSLR have still great value and superb ergonomics
The price jump is kinda staggering.
$1,400? Yikes. Inflation Nation. KEH could be your friend for earlier model. Some economists would say that the weaker Japanese yen translates into cheaper cameras in North America. Not here.
@@deanzaZZR Yen devaluation actually made the current retail price of the X-T5 (298.1k) more expensive than its introductory price (253k). They must have made the price shift last autumn when there was a gap in filled orders. Thought I was going to make it out like a bandit (costs 2749 SGD here) until I saw the price jump. It still was a good deal (2590 SGD here after the price increase before tax exemption) but not as huge a change as it was initially.
So is the jump in specs...
Yeah, the sensor is new compared to xs-20. Not sure how people expected the price to stay the same @stkuj
@@AmeriMutt76 this is compared to the xt30ii, not the xs20
The price point of the xt-50 is the best advertisement KEH could ever ask for.
Absolutely ! For that price you get into the full frame world !
Hard to get excited about a new Fujifilm camera. The X100VI has been on back order since it was announced in February with no sign of production being ramped up to meet demand. Concerning. I won’t hold my breath on the availability of this new XT50.
@@chengo51 True but it's kind of an apples to oranges comparison because the x-t50 with the new kit lens weighs the same as an a7 III (body only) and in general apc lenses are usually smaller and cheaper than full frame equivalent lenses. I'm not trying to justify the price increase but all im saying people going fuji don't really care about the biggest and bestest gear and will pay more for aesthetics and the tactile experience that fuji offers... still expensive though, only the kit option kinda makes sense.
@@Rick-rf7om Fuji's recent product release update stated that the demand for the X100VI far exceeded their expectations. They were expecting double the demand of the X100V. The demand has apparently far exceeded that. To that end, they are in the process of building out their production capabilities. The XT-50 should have fewer production issues unless the demand goes through the roof like it did for the X100VI.
The new Fuji X-T50 is slightly smaller than X-T5, but larger than Sony A6700. The biggest downside of the X-T50 is the small battery and less resolution of the EVF ! So I think most will have better choice with the X-T5 !
The X100 series situation really convinced Fuji to put on their milking gloves
They're selling the camera at scalper prices to give you the full Fuji experience 🤣
The XT-xx 2 digit used to be an affordable camera for camera enthusiasts. Now Fuji ruins it by jacking up the price excessively. It's too expensive for a camera enthusiasts. Crazy pricing! $1400?? Really?
Yes, really.
They figured out that price isn't why people buy or don't buy cameras with the x100 series.
They’re still making the X-T30 II but yeah I don’t see many reasons to buy the X-T50 when the X-T5 is only $300 more.
The film simulation dial is completely useless. They should have just added a couple of custom modes to the existing dial instead. I reckon 90% of people don’t switch their film simulation often enough to make that more useful than a drive dial. Fujifilm has said they’ll continue making the X-T30 II. I would buy that camera or the X-S20 over the X-T50. Which is a shame because I would have bought this camera if all Fujifilm had done was add IBIS to the X-T30 II and price it below $1,100. However, the new 16-50mm kit lens is very enticing.
Fuji getting greedy
Considering the price, I am glad I went with the X-S20 last year
Ya the xs20 also has the better battery
xs20 is the most logical upgrade in modern fuji cameras -> the battery, higher framerate, and a reduced hiccup on afc.
Completely agree with the battery life! I had upgraded from the X-T30 and the difference is staggering! Wouldn't mind the 40 MP Sensor for photos, but then again, I mostly got the X-S20 for better video.
@@ChristophJosefPleininger i really wanted to go with the xs20 too for the better battery and af features.. but it’s alot more expensive than the xs10😁 so took the xs10 instead
Agree, I pair the X-S20 as a video camera and backup to the X-T5 and when on the road, having the same battery is a plus. Won’t be picking this one up as a smaller option travel. Waiting on the X-E5 as I sold the X-E4 to fund the X-S20 and I am in the market for a small travel camera to go with the F2 fujicrons.
They should've released the X-E5 instead to further differentiate it from the X-T5, this is way too similar and the price isn't much more affordable.
X-E5 is likely still coming, probably next year based on Fuji's usual upgrade timetable
Thank you for including the actual horizontal and vertical pixel count when talking about the screen and EVF resolution. I find that easier to understand.
Yeah, 2 million pixels sound nice, but actually it's less than 720p
Thank you for the review, and thank you for featuring the Eau Claire Market. Many good memories there.
I will pay $200 extra and buy a used x-t5
You can pay 200 more and get a NEW x-t5.
But the XT5 doesnt have touch screen navigating the menu... what will gonna do if someday some physical buttons worn out
@@mbismbismb they will outlast your usage. Trust me.
@@brownbear100 that is even better! 👍🏼
Unless you are going to keep the camera for 20 years I don't think it's something you meed to worry about.
“It’s not weather sealed in any way… but you do get dual command dials” …Well unless those command dials let me control the weather, I’m one rainy afternoon away from being out $1400
Chris’s hair is the ultimate endorsement for the Canada School of Barbering.
That price without being weather resistant isn't going to cut it for me. I already have an X-S20 for small stabilized camera that's not weather resistant, and an X-T4 for all weather shooting. My X-T4 upgrade path will either go to X-T5 or X-H2 at this point. If they'd offer a weather resistant variant of either the X-S20 or X-T50 I'd be willing to pay that price since I could trade both of my current camera bodies in since Dual card isn't a requirement for me but I definitely need one Weather Resistant body in my kit for rainy days and dust storms. The new 16-50mm WR kit lens on the other hand might be replacing my trusty 18-55mm next month.
It’s ok. It’ll mean more for others to buy.
I do wish it were weather sealed. As someone who already has an x-t5 and FF, I'd be interested in a smaller camera for when I climb mountains. But I wouldn't pay big money for this.
Same. I mean surely WR is only withheld for artificial market segmentation, and isnt a physical size limitation to pop in a couple of rubber gaskets.... Heck, almost all new phones now have very decent WR and most can survive limited immersion. Convenience factor for that is high.
What I'd love to see (and would pay for) would be a X-Txx 'pro' - the best possible small form factor camera they can make, that doesnt get nerfed on features that aren't physical size limited. So that means including eg better sensor, WR, higher res LCD/EVF etc. Leave the video heat mgmt, bigger battery etc etc to the larger body X-Tx. And lose that damn sim dial - cripes....
The only reason to not buy an X-T5 over the X-T50 would mostly be due to lack of stock.
Its quite overpriced considering that is using the old batteries.
Thankfully I bought the X-T5 last year.
Not true. Size. Some of us want a more compact camera. Had an X-T5 for three weeks and returned it because of the size. Fantastic camera sure, but I want smaller.
@@Raist3dbthe size isn’t that much different either, XT30 was really small. XT50 is bigger.
@@ufukkiblat
To you. But to others it is.
Too bad Fuji seems to have killed the X-E line
@@Raist3db Yep but you get a nerfed dial with that film sim.... should've been punted to an X-T300 or something instead
Thanks - informative & well presented guys :)
Im happy with my XT30II. Glad i bought when it first came out. It’s perfect as an everyday camera, The 18-55 kit lens has stabilisation if I need it.
Looks like a good camera, if a bit pricey compared to past X-Txx models. The film sim dial is a bit of a gimmick and would better as either a C dial going between custom modes or the traditional drive dial.
Looking forward to the lens review.
As always, great video, guys! Kind of a bummer the EVF is low res, and no water sealing, (and that price point!) but it's an appealing camera. I'l be interested in your review of the new zoom.
Nice job fuji! I like how they managed to improve the looks of the camera quite a bit. Cool to use as a second camera for daily use. Living in rainy Netherlands, I would have preferred weathersealing though.
I love my X-T30 and was looking forward to an upgraded model, but the pricing just does not make sense when considering the rest of the fuji lineup as most people have pointed out. So far a lot of the early reviews have largely ignored the existence of the X-T5, but almost all of the commentary from viewers and consumers is that the the small price difference makes the high-end option a better buy.
The X-TXX range's main selling points have almost always been weight, size and price:
- The X-T50 now weights 100g more than the X-T30, and sits a lot closer in weight to the X-T5.
- The extra weight of the X-T5 is partly due to a larger battery, and one of my biggest gripes with the X-T30 is the battery life. This is especially noticeable when travelling and spending long hours out and about taking photos.
- Physical dimensions are still pretty small, but depending on the ergonomics that might be negated by the fact a lot of X-T30 users (like myself) end up buying external grips which increase size and weight anyway. The updated grip looks better, but how does it compare to the X-T5?
- IBIS addition is a contentious one, but my point of view is that the X-TXX range should not try to be hybrid cameras when the X-SXX range exists. It is a nice addition, sure, but is it worth sacrificing the things that made the X-T30 an attractive camera (weight, size and price). I have hardly ever thought to myself that my X-T30 could really use some IBIS, mostly because I will grab the 18-55mm with OIS if I intend filming anyway. The new kit lens looks great, and them removing OIS obviously meant that IBIS becomes more valuable, but is that what X-TXX photographers need?
- Price is the biggest talking point for obvious reason. The X-T5 is not significantly more expensive considering the upgrades appear worth it to many for the extra cost. Better ergonomics while still being compact enough, significantly improved battery life, WR, better viewfinder, dual sd slots.
- I could be wrong, but I think the X-T30 was about 40% cheaper than the X-T3, yet the X-T50 is only 18% cheaper than the X-T5? That doesn't make sense.
Aside from the features that made the X-TXX range attractive, the new dial makes no sense either considering most users liked using entire recipes and not just changing the base film sim. Being unable to store the rest of the settings makes the new film sim dial largely worthless IMO. I personally would have really enjoyed that dial if it was able to store custom settings, as using the Q-menu and cycling through recipes is a tiny bit cumbersome.
Excellent video 😊!
Were you able to try out the teleconverter function and the subject detection functions? In video and photo? How is the image quality in compartison to a zooming lens?
For me, this camera is a miss. The 40mp sensor (and its drawbacks), Film Simulation dial, and price make this a no-go. I like the body changes, minus the aforementioned dial. I could even tolerate that old battery. But I would have much preferred the older 26mo sensor and saved a few hundred bucks. For my money, the X-S20 or X-T5 are more practical.
What Fuji needs to put out is an X-T5s - an X-T5 with the stacked 26mp sensor. That camera would sell out.
I was holding out for the X-T5s but ended up being disappointed so instead I just went ahead and bought what has got to be the last black X-T5 of Akihabara (it was in the same place as the last silver X-T5 of Akihabara).
It's crazy really. Couldn't even buy the spare batteries for it until four days later when I was in Ueno.
Yes I don't need to pay for a 40mp sensor. I wanted an X-T50 in the price bracket that the X-TXx line used to exist in - with a lower resolution sensor and a price that was sensible, not just a shade under X-T5.
correct. much happy with my XT-30ii camera quality.
Despite your misgivings this will sell out too.
The X-T50 will sell out, it is the X100VI alternative with a film simulation dial right on the top. Think of what attracts new users, not you.
Thanks for the first look!
Great video, thanks a lot, could you please tell us the brand an model of the camera bag you are using in this video? Looks very slick, thanks in advance
It's Wotancraft Pilot 10L or 7L, simply the best daily/photo bag, trust me I'm in love with.
@@user-oq6de8sd6y thanks a lot! Seems to be perfect for my needs, I do own a tenba axis... But this kind of things are heavy for a simple everyday use, cheers
Thank you for the review! I am a beginning photographer and am divided between the X100VI and the XT50.
Thanks for the review! Worthy upgrade for ibis, not as bothered by sim dial as I thought I’d be, glad it keeps the auto switch so my family can be handed the camera. Interested to learn more about the drive button and to see pros and cons of the larger sensor for amateurs like me.
If you crop a lot, the 40 may be worthwhile. It is the IBIS that does it for me, although I am not going to pay launch price for it, I'll wait.
great camera, I would be interested to see a more detailed comparison with other cameras in terms of video performance, for example, which 6.2k is better in terms of detail and dr between this and the x-s20?
Not having the pleasure of having/used a Fuji camera yet, I'd have to say if/when I do buy one, it will be the XS-20! It just seems to provide more bang for the buck as a hybrid camera with great video features.
I really like the small cameras for Fuji, I used to own the XT20 and when this leaked, I was excited and wanting to buy this. But after knowing the price, I went with XT5. No regrets with my hard earn money :)
As usual, a great video. But seeing the hollowed-out Eau Claire Market made me sad; I remember when it was a happening place.
They need to bring back the dedicated exposure metering dial. That's the number one biggest reason why I'm hesitant to upgrade from my xt-3
I am a landscape photographer and own a XT30, as well as a XT5. Improvements I would have wished for in a XT50 is IBIS (tick) and weather sealing (DOH). The 40mp sensor in this camera is an overkill as you are hard pushed to get compact lenses (other than the neat primes) to complement it. Fujifilm just look at the OM5 as an example of a useful outdoor camera.
I agree on sealing. It what world is WR a 'pro' feature? Marketing and product segmentation only. Can't be a physical size limitation issue.....
Fuji shooters: I love the film sims, they're the reason I shoot Fujifilm
Fujifilm: Here's a dial to make it easy to access your favourite film simulations
Fuji shooters: No not like that
Thing is the buttons on the Fujis are fully customisable so you could set a dedicated button as your film sim selection button, so I really don't know what is the need to use an entire command dial for that instead of using it for the ISO like its X-T5 brother or some other kind of function that would see more attuned to photography than this.
Fuji don't understand what people actually like about their cameras
Do fujis really have that bad auto focus ?
I love film sims but I'm 90% of the time using a customized profile and not the default one. If this is only selecting default simulations, I'd rather stick with the XS10/20 dials (and I hate PASM)
@@Scerotic it's decent, not industry leading but fine
I will wait for X-E5 but I assume they will go with such a sick price jump with that as well. If they do I may ditch my Fuji especially in times like this when we have Sony A7C II and now Panasonic S9 coming. Those Fuji prices are ridiculous now.
Nice camera for sure, but I'm so happy that I went with the X-T30 II for my everyday carry camera. The price of the X-T50 is so close to the X-T5 that I certainly would go for that instead... oh and also I'd go so far as to say the current price of the X-T30 II is actually a bargain right now!
I’ll be keeping my XT-20 which still works great and cost me $600 AUD new. Don’t need the megapixels or IBIS.
Nice video.
I wonder if a really need 40mp and if they are suitable for hand-held operation. Maybe with the ibes, I don't know.
Anyway the camera looks fantastic.
Can anyone confirm whether this has the 160mp multi-shot mode the X-T5 and X-H2 have? I've been looking at switching to XF from Canon EF-s for personal use (would prefer an X-T5 for the durability) and professional use (tethered on a copystand, where an X-T5 is overkill), but I'd really like that hi-res multi-shot if I went with the cheaper model.
I've owned an X-T20 and X-T30 from new. And in theory this new X-T50 is the ideal camera for me if placed in the old price range. But pricing this at just £200 below a new X-T5 seems utter madness. Why would I buy this camera over the X-T5 if it's no long the much cheaper alternative? Currently you can get a mint condition used X-T5 for less than the price of an X-T50 new - Fuji wouldn't make a penny from that sale. That shouldn't be the case. The X-T50 should be priced below used X-T5 levels.
XT6 will see a similarly huge price bump... Just wait and see. Then the XT50 price will make sense (in terms of their strategy!)
@@Diffusion8 if that's the case Fuji is pricing many photographers out of its products. When I look at what I paid for a brand new X-T1.
I think you’ve got to compare RRPs. XT5 £1700 vs XT50 £1300. For £400 less you’re losing a card slot, build quality, better grip, dials and buttons. Still the percentage difference used to be greater: XT30 £900 vs XT3 £1350 on their respective releases (I think).
@@stefan33uk yet right now X-T5 is widely available for around £1400 body only. There's not a meaningful price difference between the cameras.
@@grumpyrocker because it’s 18 months old and retailers have priced it to match demand. I’m sure the XT50 will settle on a lower price in 18 months too and then that’s the time to compare their prices. Not now when it’s just released and retailers are obliged to use the RRP/MSRP
For me X-Txx has always been about getting the X-Tx IQ on entery level budget. All I wanted from Fujifilm was X-trans 5 sensor in a X-T30 mk. III, without the IBIS.
Are there any advantages of this XT50 over the XS20 (I've been looking at that one for a long time) ?
Please correct me if I am wrong, but according to my research 5th gen sensor has more punchier colors versus 4th generation more flat or muted. I don't own any Fuji cameras but planning on doing so.
Is the x-t50 capable of digital zoom crop like the x100vi from 35mm -50-70 (ff equivalent)? TIA
What is the white balance, and other settings used when using film simulation dial?
Does KEH have a Canadian Branch, Ontario in particular?

Hype buyers
They do have the more cheaper zoom as kit for $1500. And then there's still the X-T30II. 40MP doesn't strike me exactly as a beginner camera.
@@Raist3db the 15-45 (I have for my old Fuji) is not that good. Super cheap but a waste of glass for a capable camera like the xt50
@@m-faccin I know it's not at the same optical caliber but that's been the standard for lenses- you get what you pay for. But it means you can still use the camera at a lower price. You can always buy the cheaper XF35 F2.0 they made. Those optics are still pretty good.
I got an xt30ii a year ago and love the heck out of it. But that price jump is crazy. I'm gonna keep my xt30ii and skip over this. By the end of the year I'm looking to maybe upgrade to the xt5 or Nikon zf.
As someone who just put in a preorder, let me share my perspective of why this is EXACTLY what I was hoping for. Currently, I use the X-E4 which I bought it when it came out in 2021. It was my first Fuji camera, and as a hobbyist photographer, the size was super important. I wanted something I could bring me with me at all times. I got the 27mm pancake lens, and it's a perfect everyday carry. Then I have a handful of others for specific situations.
So why did I upgrade? First, the newest 40mp X Trans sensor. Second, IBIS. Third, pop-up flash. Fourth, I don't shoot video-so I'm happy with a photo-first approach. Do I think I'll use the film-sim dial? Probably not very often. I have a couple of recipes I like, and I'll probably stick with those.
This is a beautiful camera. And it's a big bump over the X-E4. I would never even consider an X-T5 for size alone. As a hobbiest, I couldn't be happier!
Weird as I am in exactly the same boat as you and have the same thoughts. The X-E5 is rumoured for 2025 but I am impatient and have GAS. I have missed a flash, rare as it is, but fill would have been useful at times. I'll never use the film sim dial, as I too use recipes. But I have missed IBIS from my old Sony for low-light shots, which I do a fair bit. Using primes means I crop a fair bit too, so the more mpix, the better.
I am waiting for prices to fall after availability and then may trade in my X-E4. After inflation the X-T50 is only around 100 GBP more than the X-T30 was, so already not too bad. Hope you enjoy your new toy. 🙂
Xt3 is now the best affordable one. I got one in mint conditions for 600euros and I am very happy with it 👌
I still love my X-T2 for video in manual focus mode. Almost no colour grading required.
I got the XT30II a few months ago just to carry when I hike and travel a lot since is so light. I almost got the S20 but was out stock for a few months everywhere.
Now this XT-50 is nice but still old stilly 126s batterie still just 2.36 M dots viewfinder another step down + the worse from fuji @ 1400.00 Crazy. Will wait for the XT5 to go on special and large batterie 3.69M dots viewfinder
It is the same price as the Canon R7 with 7 mpg more resolution but no weather sealing and maybe a little more fun to use.
i have x-s10 and I am torn between choosing my second body: x-s30 (40megapixel sensor) vs x-t5 (but deep in my heart i am a gfx100 2 s dreamer;)

It has the same characteristics, so don’t get too exited. You’re better off with the 18/1.4.
@@drs-Rigo-Reus which? You're recommending an 18mm prime as a replacement for a zoom?
Thank you for the very informative video. One deal-breaker: price (old battery, no weather sealing) ... X-T5 is just too close pricewise and much better
The existing Fuji community seems not so thrilled, esp. about the price. But as a MFT (Oly) shooter, almost entirely stills, the size and weight with this are more attractive than the XT-5, fine camera as it may be. As I shoot jpg more often, the sims dial could be very cool. If it's a good camera that suits you and will enjoy over years then you will forget the price. And let's see how the street price finds itself over a little time. Compared to the price of 2 or 3 nice lenses a couple hundred more than you'd like is only that. If I were to switch systems this would be it.
I would have to add a grip at which point it’s probably above 500g. My XT1 is 440g!
The 'existing' community of pretty much anything is always angry on the internet.
film sim dial? sounds like something from X-T200/X-S10
This camera is designed after all the X100V TikTok trends to give people 2 choices: You have some money > XT-50, you got more money > drawn to XT-5. The new 50 will bring more sales to the 5 for sure.
I heard the GFX 100Sii has anamorphic desqueeze now. Did you happen to catch if the x-t50 did as well? I'm hoping Fuji will roll that out in all their new cameras
I guess I'm glad I jumped from the X-TXX series up to the X-T5 at launch. With this price increase and the bizarre lack of weather sealing on this body, this seems like a bizarre option. Hate that fuji refuses to weather seal their smaller bodies.
Aiming for beginners for $1500 LOL. Good luck with that Fuji and bye<
And what did you do with the left dial. It was perfect when it had S (single) CL, CH, BKT1, BKT2 (CH or bkt are my favs) I don't use Film Simulation, only for video (and not that often)
that camera is a no buy 100%
Also feeling Fuji has dropped the ball due to the TikTok hype.
The XT30 body only price at intro when adjusted for inflation would be £1159 in todays money. The 50 with IBIS etc is £1299. Not a bad deal. How about you get your head around inflation?
I do not believe! Does this camera make 4k oversampling video with crop only? Is it means micro four third, isn't it? X-T30 I & II do 4k from full sensor width. :(
The 1400 price is obviously partly inflation but also just a high anchor that will come down with time and cashback stuff. Last year the XS-20 launched for the same and I got it for 1240 less than a month later with cashback specials. This one here will sit at 1200 soon I guess
I loved the XT30 & was looking forward to an upgrade but this doesn't do it for me. $500 more and a dedicated dial for film sims?
One thing I am concerned about is whether it can shoot videos with low shutter speed (like 1/8 s) with internal recording. Because my xt-30 can only shoot low shutter speed with external recording. I guess fuji will continue to cut this feature from the xt 5🙄
I'd dig the price hike if they had given it a metal top and dials, solid retro, like the X100 series. As it is, yeah, X-T5 is the much better deal.
You can tell the difference often between a phone photo and a full frame photo. The curious thing about Fuji (you know where I’m going with this)
Is the film simulation dial customizable?
Nope. Even the FS1, 2 and 3 can not be assigned to a custom recipe. Pointless to me.
the price increase is something that no one will ever be excited about, but on the whole I'm still very excited about this camera. I don't want all the extra weight and size of the X-T5, but the IBIS is well worth the weight gains it did make. I shoot primarily old manual prime lenses, so I've been missing IBIS in my X-T30 having had it in my last mirrorless camera from... 2012 😆
Yeah IBIS would be welcome on my 35mm f/0.95. It's why I am interested in the X-T50, being an X-E user I don't want to go the next size up to the X-T5.
What are they going to do after the x-t90 and x-t9?
I have a X-T200 (I'm from the future)
Create a marketing gimmick from a new feature to justify a new name. "ohhh it's called X-R1 because of RESOLUTION"
Go to letters, just like the x100 but reverse
It‘s hard to believe that in perhaps 15 years, photography is still the same. In the best case, Fuji will establish new camera lines with features for e.g. spatial photography and/or other AI stuff that we can’t even imagine today. In the worse case, Fujifilm as we know it today will leave the market like Kodak did.
I thought I’m going to get major gas when this drops as im using a xt30ii basically daily. This camera doesn’t really hit the spot tho, the film simulation dial seems so useless to me as you can already change your simulations through the Q menu or customize a button to do it. I have to say tho that ibis is cool but as a stills shooter and not really a video guy I don’t think I was ever missing ibis and I used cameras with ibis before i got my Fuji.
I would prefer the 26mp "old" sensor and a lower price.
The price is not ok. The XS20 and XT5 gives you much more for your bucks
Yes
Now I wish for X-T5s and X-T5m(onochrome)
Regarding KEH, I've never traded my gear to them before, but I have with MPB and the last experience really made me mad. I bought some used gear from them in like new condition. I ended up changing to something else a few months later so I sold it back to them in the EXACT SAME condition, but they 'rated' it less than Like New. That's BS / shady. Of course they didn't reply when I asked about it.
Chris, how is its size compared to the S9? Jordan says XS20 better choice for video, but I don’t believe that the IBIS there is anything close in real use. Even here Richard Wongs review/testing notes the effective IBIS is about 4 stops, though for a small camera that’s not bad. Look forward to a formal review…still nice to see more small cameras. Surprised that the screen can’t face you, but that will likely appeal to many folks who prefer a tilt screen. As others noted, Fuji, seems to be asking a lot for this one,but it does seem like a nice option overall.
The Samsung S9 phone is dramatically thinner than the X-T50. They have similar dimensions in regards to height and width but the depth is downright pocketable in favor of the Samsung S9. Hope this answers your question!
@@niccollsvideo haha…well done!

But does the Samsung have a dedicated film simulation dial?
Yes, Fuji have got this about right, wasn't sure on the looks at first but seeing it in hand, it looks ok, and the feature set is spot on for the price point.
Why are Fujifilm still adding Sepia?
The spec upgrade definitely explained the price jump.
However, it is super close to the XT-5, and the target customer is no longer beginners for the XT-__ series.
Fuji abandoned the beginners market which is kinda sad.
Same trend happens to the X100 series as well.
"and the target customer is no longer beginners for the XT"
It literally is though. It's why it has the FS dial, to attract new users. It is the ILC equivalent of the X100VI, hence the similar price.
It seems a pretty unexciting update - which happens in every camera line from time to time. IBIS is great but at this point we're all expecting it. The resolution upgrade - well that's just the sensor but almost no one actually needs it at all and most of those who do need it seldom. No EVF update and so-so video mean really mean this is no stunner. Just personally, I like the squared off look and I'm hoping that if we get an XE5 with IBIS that they'll stick to the stellar aesthetic of the XE4.
Nice little camera, insane price.
Fuji. I'd happily trade some megapixels and IBIS for some weather-sealing on the smaller cameras.
Cool!
So glad i took the plunge and got an X-T5 instead of waiting for this to drop lmao
Looks like I’ll be waiting for the X-E5 with IBIS and 26 mp sensor!! They need to release the 18mm f2 at the same time
I doubt the X-E5 will have a 26mp, history suggests it will align with the XT and X100 lines.
I've always wanted to get an X-T30, but after watching this video, I'm now convinced that I should instead be saving up for an X-S20.
Very expensive for a Fuji entry level camera, currently the XT-5 is on offer for £1,449.00 albeit body only.
When will the X-Pro 4 be here and what about the X-E5?
I’ve borrowed a couple of the X-T series (including X-T5) and they just aren’t appealing visually and this X-T50 looks pricey for what it is.
Patrick at Fuji Rumours says X-E5 2025.
Does anybody know the brand of the bag that Chris has?
I do! That’s is the Wotancraft Pilot series and it is still my favorite camera bag series of all time!
@@niccollsvideo Great, thank you!
Can we get a Patreon started to get Peta Pixel moved to a location with better weather like Bora Bora.

havent watched the review yet but the price difference between the X-T5 and X-T50 is only $200, what are the differences?
I have xt30ii. Is it worth upgrading to this?
If you have to ask, then no.
Just want the review of the 16-50
Looks great, but lack of weathervsealing? C’mon. That’s not a big lift and significantly increases utility.
