All purpose on dual motor will NOT feel like conserve that your used to. It’s an intelligent AWD type system, it will engage the rear motor OFTEN when doing sporty driving. Similar to have a Golf R’s AWD system works. I think you guys are missing the beauty of this system.
The yellow points are such a subtle way of indicating the quad motor. No need for extra badges, keeping the exterior cleaner Did you receive the email today regarding Rivian offering the NACS charger adapter in 2024? I think that’ll be a better transition till they decide to do away with CCS
Thank you so much for this video. I found it informative but difficult to watch/listen to. Reminded me of watching paint dry to be honest with the monotone tempo. Either way, would watch you three again and again. Thanks!

I have a quad motor configuration for the R1S with EDD Aug - Sep. I've emailed Rivian to let me know what my options are for the dual motor, and if I can get some credit $$$ back, I'll opt for it since my wife will be driving it as well. Quad motor is too much HP and with the original pricing, I can't complain if we get the quad motor.
My budget will not allow the quad motor, but I’ll never do true off road driving anyway. So do you all think dual and standard battery pack is good for basic daily with some light camping driving?
We are patiently waiting for our R1S since we order 1.5 years ago. We had to purchase a Model Y as a place holder. Question. What is the max range of the R1S quad motor in conserve mode vs dual motor performance? Thanks.
My only push back would be that the performance dual motor would probably just fine in the curves since you have sport mode. So you have front motor sending power left to right and rear motor sending power left to right.
I did some different builds...Quad vs Performance Dual...for $3,000 more, you get Quad and all that entails and only 17 less miles of range on the 22's. I'll take Quad.
Automatic AWD is a terrible idea, I've never driven one that works well. I'd also be worried how long the disconnects will hold up being engaged and disengaged constantly. If they really wanted to do auto AWD they should have used an induction motor that can be turned basically off without a physical disconnect. Also should be the front motor that turns off so you have primary RWD not FWD. FWD is very poor on a pickup. This makes me very glad I got a Quad motor version.
VW & Audi does this on the MEB cars with AWD - the rear motor is a Permanent magnet synchronous design that is always on, while the front axle is an Induction asynchronous design that "turns off" at speed or not needed.
Subaru WRX rally cars drive great, haul a$$, and win races using automatic AWD, so I’m not sure where you get the idea that automatic AWD systems suck. Maybe you just have been driving too many crossovers and minivans.
Thank you for making the right choice and switching to NACS.
Thanks guys for the comparison...learned a lot! Now I know the quad motor was the better choice for me.

Listening to him get this completely wrong was 🤦

Exactly!
They are slowly morphing into the gear guard Yeti.
Did Rivian discontinue the Quad Motor or did they just add the Dual Motor as an option?
The biggest question should be Reliability. I’ve already had to replace my rear drive units (under warranty), which seems to be a common issue.

I'm all in on Rivian stock...

Is there any talk about putting the max pack battery in the quad R1t?
The guy in the blue is speaking in Crawl Mode?

R1T needs rear wheel steering & quad motor Performance..among several other things.
I can't believe this wasn't asked, if the break calipers on dual motors were painted maroon, does skyler trade?
People should not paint their rotors. If you by a dual motor then stick with the silver, no cheating and faking it with yellow
I really don't see many, if any benefits of the Dual motor setup. Even on the range, is not much better.
omg, dude in the light blue shirt, if you speak any slower you'd put me in a coma.
el Pepe, he went to A&M, so I usually cut him some slack.
haha

I don't care about all these modes, and expensive crap. I'm a working stiff. I want to afford one, without mortgaging my house.
