YES!!! THIS WORKS!!!! I can't believe I found this video!!!! I bought my 2023 Sportage brand new last year and have been fighting the disconnecting CarPlay since the beginning. I watched this video 5 or 6 times and then tackled this project. It was very easy, and it has not disconnected since! THANK-YOU!!!!
Did this yesterday and so far no dropouts. Thank you. Very easy to do took all of 10mins. Had been doing my head in for a while had it at dealers they couldn't find anything wrong tried different cables phones and all other trick people have been posting.😊

Nice video, however!!! It seems on Iphone that the major issue is a setting in FaceID and Accescontrol. Goto settings, FaceID and Accesscontrol --> scroll down and make sure assesoiries are selected. Then when you connect your iphone it is a steady working connection.

I have done this fix a few times since the initial time. It gets rather warm under there and the di-electric grease seems to go away over time. Just did it yesterday again...I'll have to keep track of how long it lasts this time!
What type of droping you encountered before the repair? You got a mesage with the drop? I am getting a message with the drop: phone is not responding and when i am hitting the dash with my hand just over the box it's droping without a message! Sometimes it s dropping every 30 secondes, sometimes every 30 minutes. Impossible to use android auto!
I am going to have to try this because I have gone through a couple of wires and wireless transmitter with no success. I thought it was my phone but I have no problem same phone in two other cars. What's the purpose of the grease? From what I understand it wouldn't help with the connection.
Dielectric grease serves as an insulating barrier that shields connectors from corrosion, moisture, and oxidation. If I am disassembling the dash, for me I want to ensure a solid connection for long-term reliability. I have found over the years that applying a thin layer of dielectric grease can help maintain a stable connection over time. I’ve personally found it effective, and my Apple CarPlay continues to work reliably.
@@kwc228 Thanks, glad to hear your problem hasn't come back. I was concerned that since the grease is non-conducting and meant to protect from water/corrosion that it might actually worsen the connection in the spots where its applied between the connector and socket. I'm still a bit confused as to how unplugging and replugging the connector has been so beneficial if the connection did not appear to be loose to begin with. I will be trying regardless as I don't have any faith that the dealer will be able to help in this case.
It is crazy and it works! Please let us all know if it works for you. I want to make sure it is working for the majority of the people that do it. It is a pretty easy job.
I took the sportage 2023 to the kia dealership...they said they will replace the usb under warranty... i hope that works...following that i may try the dielectric grease trick ...
Well .. I just had my first replacement yesterday.... let's see how it goes ... and I ordered the dielectric grease anyways... I am just worried that if I do it myself , the warranty will be cancelled...

I found the issue was the setting in the iPhone, in settings - faceID and Access code , in the bottom access when locked enable Accessories. Carplay becomes stable

If under warranty have them replace the usb port at the dash.

Since I fixed it I have not had an issue. I think that the message was cannot read USB.

Did you follow the step by step overview? Try that first if that does not work then you may have bad usb port or something else.
