Pointless, extra jank, Lag and bugs that will take Funcom months to fix, if they bother at all and show the same commitment to Console Servers as they have from the very conception.
To me it was a non event. It was as you say just there. As a 50 year old who grew up as a boy watching the films and reading the books this has completely missed the mark. I hate the bazaar which is just a money grab by the Devs because they have no other source income Overall this game has been a huge let down. They just don't seem to care about their player base.
The purge revamp really killed the game for me. I'm not sure why, but I had the hardest time making it work correctly. I'd watch videos on it and they never seemed to have any problems, but I would constantly be met with error messages when trying to launch a purge. When it would spawn, the enemy camp was nearly always directly adjacent to mine. After trying a few locations, I really just gave up on it. I also never saw videos explaining how the purge strength was clearly based on how well you're defended. A level 1 with only you defending it there are only a few soldiers at a time attacking. If you throw up a dozen archers to defend, now you'll have 10 soldiers attacking for the same level 1 purge. It actually didn't make sense to try and build a defense, it was easier to do it alone.
@@jasonhaettich2610 it can indeed be fidgety. The problem through on my side seems less on location than on how large the base. Sprawling bases always fails to spawn a purge
The problem with Conan is that open world survival games are all about exploration. It's impossible to maintain interest in a game for long without giving players new places to explore. Bazzar is also a very bad idea
@DmytroBogdan i agree. 3 or 4 bucks max for big items and a buck for smaller items. They need to add new areas every season. Id rather have place to explore than some new quirk in combat.
@@sntdc2017 - Just imagine how popular Ark: Survival Evolved would be if they never released a map after "The Island" - tuning down the prices and releasing new content could be a big way to revitalize the game and bring in more players.
The biggest bug is falling through floors, which is still unresolved to this day and it's been quite some time since this new age introduced this bug in the first place.
I think it prooves your point that i absolutely forgot that we could hoard treasure from the beginning... also carrying treasure from one part of the map by foot to the other was bonkers
I forgot about carrying treasure across the map 😂 Yeah that wasn't the best design, I think it's quite telling that from what I heard, most people just farmed gold instead for treasure count
yeah ikr, carrying the treasure was absolute ASS!!!! the only way to mitigate this is to build teleportation pads (which I'm in the middle of doing) but I have to rank up my sourcery skill
yeah, the treasures to carry are cool in concept but having to haul it back to your base is annoying. They could have also added a new thing for the horses to carry so that they could get some more attention and use
You forgot to mention the dreaded rebalances to weapons. They nerffed pretty much everything not starmetal, or Battlepass originated. Dragon bone weapons got hit pretty hard in the Exiled Lands, yes, they gave them sunder, but their damage got nerfed to hardened steel leveles, and the durability got lowered way too much, worse still, bow got downgraded with no added benefit, and dragonbone arrows are just not worth making. Eldarium weapons got hit the hardest in Siptha. Most of them are now brittle, having durability so low you'd think they are below steel, and many got their special effects nearly removed for no apparent reason. The rebalance to the gry ones weapons was odd too, they got their damage lowered to hardened steel with durability to match, bleed is still there, and the stamina cost now matches hardened steel too. While this makes them usable, it renders them pointless outside of giving the mace to a bearer, because you can't make these weapons of a bench, so you can't get artisan bonuses.
Let's not forget the indications of siege in the player's base with trebuchets, the god avatar of Set, and even the Hand of War riding a horse in the trailers. (the last one was just for fun)
I started playing Exiles a couple of months before the new purge launched. Overall I really enjoy playing the game. The developer introduced problems are discouraging though. I hope that Funcom is secretly working on an unannounced sequel. IMO we are probably at the end of the live service lifecycle for Conan Exiles. Anytime that a live service game abandons their battle pass it's a terrible sign.
Farming gold, silver, or picking up gilded treaaure items rather than the epic treasures, was faster and more efficient. The biggest issues i had with the Age of War, was the foundation glitch, and falling through them, and being unable to climb out, or delete them
i agree the game is not dead, but i hope the bazaar prices changes to be more reasonable, hopefully more bugfix and no revamp of things that didn't need revamp.
what Conan really need is the big storyline, not those letters from Rasma, but the whole storyline with different choices, cutscenes, cool characters, rewards etc And ofcourse this game need new space to explore, because this game aobout exploration. If they can't make exile lands bigger then they need to make a teleport to the Siptah, and also make a new maps
I was just talking about how there should be a boat to take us to the other map or something along those lines I’m glad I’m not the only one that thinks that it would be an improvement a much needed one too it would definitely keep things feeling fresh
@@Nord_Meadly - They don't even need that. There are tons of "portals" in game that could be connected to Siptah and other maps, if they would just add a single dungeon on the Siptah side of things.
the game needs CONTENT, not constant nerfs on things that the player base actually enjoyed. What was the last new dungeon that we got? Wine cellar? Theyve added nothing to the game that makes me want to play like i used to, all i do is log in every few days to refresh my official timers and log out, even the new companions quest arent enough to really pull me back in. theres just nothing new, no new maps, no new dungeons, hell even Siptah just sits there and gets next to nothing in the way of updates.
Maybe someday there will be an Age of Amazons, which Denis teased us with before Age of War was revealed. The actual Conan lore characters Queen Nzinga and General Tuta when?
Thanks for the video. I completely agree with you Mate. I even think that you may be right :) War has an incredibly great potential for great stories about heroic battles, powerful heroes... Meanwhile, we know nothing. There are Stygians somewhere out there, plundering and destroying entire settlements, but we neither see it nor does anyone mention it anywhere. Suddenly, from outer space, a citadel appears in the middle of the map... And that's it. Like you said, it doesn't add anything to the game other than causing the frames to drop. I hope Funcom will come to its senses and remove this citadel and replace it with some burnt ruins. What I expect from Age of Heros is that this update will reassure me that Funcom actually cares about me and that I'm having fun playing their game.
I was disappointed when Ch. 2 dropped. I honestly miss the old purges. I really wanted to like the new ones, but pathing from the camp to your treasure room was so tetchy that I was only able to spawn a purge after constructing purpose-built-to-BE-raided forts and packing them full of guards and gold. At least the old purges gave you SOME reason to build intelligently, from a defensive standpoint, as opposed to "waiting in line at Disneyland" -style crowd control. Be nice if they had an option to bring those back.
I hate the new "purge" system so much, it fundamentally changed the entire point, purpose and feel of what a Purge was and meant to be. The new system is so far removed from everything that made the original one an actually fun piece of world building and game design that it should have been it's own entirely new system. While it wasn't the only thing that caused me to drop a game I otherwise loved playing, it was certainly one of the bigger ones. Though I am *very* glad the battlepass system has been entirely removed because THAT was probably one of the worst things they ever added to this game.
the new purge system was good on paper. poorly implimented. I did like the more PVE focus with NPC raid citadel. Made a Solo player like myself get involved a bit more in it. The bugs let it down ALOT
IVE BEEN SAYING IT FOR YEARS MAN.... they gave up on CE because they were funneling all their money, passion, and effort into the dune game that is also prob gonna flop hard...
You are mistaken, they aren't putting any extra effort, money or resources towards Dune.I can 100% guarantee Dune will launch with the same quality and polish that Conan Exiles and Age of Conan did. Once Dune has been out for 5 years or so you will see, it will be in the same category of unrealized potential.
One of my biggest gripes was just how lacking the Age felt. I was told before Chapter 2 the Stygian Empire was on their way to the Lands to take what they perceived as theirs. I was expecting to run into roaming patrols that, if encountered, would've spelt DEATH for the lowbie Exile, but a suitable challenge for the more grizzled among us. I was also expecting to be attacked by said Stygians for simply HAVING treasure in my base, which would've lead to a full on Raid. Instead, PROCLAIM YOUR WEALTH AND HOPE THERE'S ROOM NEARBY FOR THEM TO SPAWN! Age of Sorcery was a solid addition, and while I didn't like the Eclipse system, everything else made it worthwhile. I am hoping Age of Heroes adds more to the game, and I do hope they extend the regions in the Exiled Lands, so much of the northeastern part of the map is untouched, and I would love to see more things added.
For me the issue with Conan is the world consistency; by that i mean, the fact your base and character remains in world while you log out, means that the game is all but impossible to play for people who have real world responsibilities like me. I cant tell you how many times ive logged on after work only to have my base destroyed and my stuff taken. I simply dont have the time to defend my in-game base 24/7. Even with a clan....i cant tell you how many clans ive been in where most players arent even active more than 2 days a week, and how many times clan members have been unable to answer calls to defend the base. The fact your base, and your character, and your inventory, keep existing even when you cant be there to play the game, is a serious problem. The game feels designed FOR GAMERS; i.e. people who play games professionally for a living, who's job it IS to be online 50 hours a week
This is why the kids in school or at their parents still have a leg up on the rest with these types of games. Conan isn't Ark, though. Where you can get raided 24/7. Conan is for first shift work. Lol. Raid time is exactly when I'm working my 2nd shift job. Lol.
I'll say what I said to my friends. Conan is failing and will continue to do so because the games engine capabilities can no longer handle all of the things they're cramming into it. Fuerher, optimization just isn't possible. The success would have skyrocketed had they done what Ark did. Relaunch the game on a mew engine. In Conans case, Unreal 5. Not only would the preformance be fixed, but the new engine would open doors for the game they wouldn't currently deem possible. Ontop of that fact, they had the chance to do so and latch on to a loyal player base that has been depleting. But sadly we're left with an old gen game thats being left so far behind the rest of the gaming industry. As hard as they may try, Conan exiles is doomed to fail.
Wonderfully put all round. One thing that's been spurring me is the lack of updates to the technical side of the game which also enhances the overall enjoyment for everyone. For instance I feel distant player structures would be perfect for Conan due to the insane building system. Basically takes a page out of the book from 7 days to die - where your client "remembers" the building pieces placed that it sees and when you're out of network range it keeps a low detail version of it in place. It can also only prioritize the outerlayer of everything. That way there will be no more pop ins of peoples bases infront of you. Rust also finally decided to implement this in the last year as well. If you agree, would love you to also chat about it in future. Another big thing is player/server transfers.. they've been out of the game for how many years now after promising to fix it. And no communication on when it would be back. I know many folks I've met on servers before alongside my friends who don't want to hop in because the server they used to be on is "dead" and they don't want to grind for all the unlocks again. They simply need to resolve the technical and balance issues and we would be set.
I started playing in January of this year (single player). While I love the building, as a fresh player, I was stumped by how awkward the combat felt. I haven't bothered much with combat since tbh!
I'd love to be mistaken, but I don't have any trust in these devs any more. Breaking what was working and not fixing literally day one bugs is a clear sign that they have no clue what to do with the game. Pity, I like it a lot.
The game needs new maps and daily events that pop up across the map. On the modded server I play, admins host nightly events where you can earn massive XP, rare gear, and loot. Funcom's Age of Conan had World Boss events, so they're familiar with global events. Ideas could include a PVP arena, dungeon races, or world bosses, all offering rare, valuable rewards. Players could earn tokens from events to trade for gear at a special vendor, encouraging participation. This would also allow for deeper builds with unique weapon and armor traits.
My brother and I have been playing since conan came out and the bugs broke us. We still play now and then but not like we used to. I can only speak for consoles (since that’s we play on) and I’m not one to throw about the word “unplayable” but conan became unplayable for consoles for a significant time. Couldn’t add items to the action wheel, couldn’t equip or in equip things, couldn’t even drop things from the inventory. And it went on way longer than was ok. In fact, right now almost a year later, there are still items on console that you can’t move if you use any sort of inventory sorting. Can’t put them away, can’t drop them, can’t equip them. If you take off inventory sorting you can but then you have to hunt. It was really there bugs that broke us. We went months literally unable to equip tools and weapons
To me by far the worst thing they introduced into the game was follower AWOL as a feature and the Fall through floors and foundations mechanics. They had no business introducing those features.
Luckily single player server I am won't suffer from that issue, but I do have concern of thralls wondering off from less big bases and getting killed by nearby wild life or no special thrall beds to for your thrals to sleep in and not going towards your own. I feel like some cool things from new chapter be decent, bugs and clitches, as well unnesssary changes if made, will surely killed the mood for sure.
For me the biggest missed oportunity is not having the stygian siege the aesir instead of us. During the age of war there was a lot done around Aesir, not just in term of csmetic but also lore wise. It was kind of implied that the stygian fought the Aesir at some point. Sieging the Aesir at New Asagarth would have been better lore wise because now you are the hero that save the Aesir from the evil stygian empire, maybe building alliances and all. OR; you side with the Stygian and lay waste to New Asagarth. Also there was a perfect spot for the Stygian base near New Asagarth; The Wardtowers. There is nothing there. Very little npc to farm (not even a name one if I reckon), and the three tower are just completely empty. This would have been a great spot to use to build the Stygian base on with the repurpose of the three towers. With like a miniboss in two of them ans a real boss in the last one (think telith insteas of a cranked up npc with just more health/damage). And it would have save the ruin of al merayah because it was actually a good spot for farming npc, with named thrall, bearer and sorcerers.
Tbh I liked the mechanism of the old purge more. Random factions raiding your base inevitably. Now, even though the event is more thought through, the purge only triggers if you decide to do so and only if your base is - instead of on top of a wisley chosen hill or island - in reach of a siege camp location. PS: I miss the axe-spinning animation and the Bounty hunters
The original purge is a lot more fitting in the lore. The new purge is a rare move towards a more game-ified element, which probably works better in practice, but it does lack the surprise and anxiety element of a purge just happening to descend on your base at random
Yeah I wish they left the old purge in and just added the new purges. They could of made it like every new purge u do slows down the old purge a little bit
Nah. The new purge is better. The old one was really unfair. I got destroyed on Siptah by the accursed because the purge meter on that server would fill up much faster. I only had like a greater pet and a tier 3 bearer, both were killed really fast.
We shall see E. Excellent video as usual. I want it to succeed as this is one of those play till I die type games because I love the lore! The combat bugs really pissed me off and I even made videos of the glitchy enemies. I'm wary, but as you said before I remain positive. Many other games have surpassed the mechanics of Exiles so unless they upgrade , they must provide me with lore. We have an entire Hyborian Age to to explore....Conan needs to leave that Tavern and actually be Conan...and Crocs need to kill us in deep water. You know immersion?! lol Have a good one E!
I hated the weapon damage changes. That ruined much of my fun. You know it’s bad when they have to introduce a resurrection mechanic for your thralls because the weapons were overpowered. The purge was ok but overall my whole guild lost enthusiasm for this game and left. Hopefully Age of Heroes will make a comeback
My issue with AoW is that I seriously dislike the new purge. The old one inspired fear in players that you could be randomly attacked from all sides at any time, depending on settings and base location. The new one is just showing off your wealth so that the neighbors conga line to your door in an immersion killing way five minutes later. I still don't understand why they had to take the first one away to implement the second. It defeated the purpose of T3 building materials - just make sure your door is sturdy - you know, because raiders always politely use the doors.
I did a level 6 Purge and the enemy base spawned right next to another players big base and then enemies killed all his animals and thralls. He later said in chat that he left his doors open so other players could use his portals, of course I didn't tell him it was me.
@MrAdrianlk I did tell him if he needed anything to let me know, i do have chests full of legendaryweapons, all he asked for was a Greater Sabertooth so I gave him 4. I usually own up to my shit but I just felt so bad this time. I am better so I will do better 👍 👌
With the release of Age of Heroes 1, we will see if it is lack of time... Or lack of competence that has caused the mounting problems. I worry that we have increased time between releases to have the exact same level of jank and tone deafness in patches. Also, new community manager started strong, but ghosted quick.
That's true, I'm hoping it'll expose that it was a result of time problems and not actual developer problems. I don't think it's terribly fair to say the new CM "ghosted quick" though. Fairly active until early October, so probably working on organizing comms, socials etc prior to the release, as all other Conan CMs will be. The proper test will be post-release in replying to concerns, reports, pressing issues etc, alongside other non-bug related comms
The proof is always in the tasting, so we will know soon. I hope you are correct and will happily be wrong, because I enjoy this game and want it to do well and be playable. As for the CM, she may not have entirely ghosted, but she had a flurry of activity and then crickets. Which isn't necessarily on her. I don't know if she is full time staff, furthermore, putting the onus for all of the... Somewhat setting appropriate (brutal and barbaric)... social media on one set of shoulders is more than a little harsh. Hopefully she gets something of a team in the future, but better than Funcom average is still far below industry standard and embarrassing compared to how well the Dune community is managed. Which further feeds the dirty rumour that Conan is being cannibalized for that game... But again, this pessimist always hopes the optimist is proven correct.
@@VeridianHerald Yeah hopefully I'm correct in thinking that time is the issue, I'd rather like to not be talking about bugs and development problems so often 😂 To my knowledge, there is a CM team, but I know some of them are spread across multiple Funcom titles. Andy and Nicole are probably the two most well-known given their stream appearances, but I think there are a couple of others like Caroll, plus ones like Ignasi that seem to work across multiple titles, probably by virtue of their tenure with Funcom The forums especially are rough a lot of the time, I'm thinking the quiet is just in the run-up to the update actually dropping, I imagine even CMs have a lot of work to do getting documentation and such ready. I'm quite hopeful that Caroll (and other CMs) will be communicating more on the forums after the update is in our hands
You are a good person and maintain a reasonable level of composure... What are you doing in this game? Joke aside, it is so very close to drop time. I know it's for me on edge just a bit. The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last.
@@VeridianHerald Building 😂 All jokes aside, the game just really vibes with me, so I wanna see it at its best. I do try to balance that optimism as best as possible though I think we're all on edge for the release. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, though if the update manages to get out there with no major issues I think it will be a massive W compared to what we've suffered through already
Age of War. Which war in the first place. Isn't war is something about fighting armies? I can see NPC army, but where's ours? Those two thralls (with certain perk, otherwise one single thrall) - and that's it. This is not an army by no means. New purge system. It will come only if it's convenient to raid your base. Isn't fortifications meant to cause inconveniense to attackers? But if your base is fortified well purge will not appear, it's too much effort for them. And if they come you're greatly outnumbered despite of your army (you cannot command it but it's exist at least). If it's high level purge you'll most likely lose some thralls to it and reward is not worth it. Good thing it's much faster to tame thrall but to train thrall is still too long to make losses acceptable. Level 1 purge to get barman and souls for temple upgrede is all that needed Raid stigians back. Even more unfair action than purge. Two thralls army vs hoard of constantly respawning stygians at Al Merayah. What could go wrong? And just like purge loot not worth an effort. Tavern. Good addition but not related to war - Age of War, remember? Thrall recovery - exellent feature. Lowered tame time as I mentioned. But that's all. Not much for an age TBH
@4:45 One year in development to get a less challenging and more buggy purge system than the old one. Honestly, adding only the option to opt-out of the old purges would have saved a lot of time and money.
Switching between maps would be a nice way to keep things fresh I avoid the other map because that isn’t an option, also any additional lore or story would make my day I would love to have more background on the map and the enemies but mainly more Conan lore I feel like he’s wasted not being a travling npc or a hireable temporary recruit that visits our taverns every now and then.
There is nothing Hyborian about an army of Golems attacking your purge base, which usually along with the equally silly meteors, just ends up destroying the Purges pathway to your treasure chest......A big demonic creature, or an army of Stygian demons and/or Stygian zombies.....yeah, that feels more Conan lore friendly to me......Just more challenging enemies without all the explosive base wrecking crap. Also, it would've been better if the Purge felt like a proper army that would camp and storm your base at random. I really hope that FC introduces something like a merchant caravan route, and the merchants pay gold for protection as they cross the Exiled lands....Some good story opportunities there......The tavern would make a great location where you would visit the tavern and seek out the merchants and offer your sword for hire.....and there could be bronze, silver and gold caravan route difficulty settings......and with no stupid Golems! lol.
I think the Bazaar put me off Conan. With a full time job and a family, i dont get to play games often. The Bazaar's attempt to add FOMO had the opposite effect on me, i just stopped caring about anything in it. When they released dlc for £5 i bought everyone one of them as they came out, knowing i could have fun with the blocks etc whenever i had time.
It will be a month before this game is playable when the mods are updated after the week or 2 waiting for Funcom to fix the shit they break with this update that has had a month of testing to fix things.
As much as i like the new purge system. I miss the old one. And i feel that the devs removing the old purge system was a wasted opportunity. As lets face that the old purge was a great way to get really good thralls. Vs the new tavern system being tied to the new thralls. Which best you can usually even recruit is tier 3. I don't know if they ever fixed the inability to hire named thralls. They should have kept the old system along with the tavern system. As you know having the purge just being a thing that happened inevitably, is sorely missed. Given once you hit level 60, you have little to nothing left to do. And THAT needs to change.
I really agree to lore being Funcoms great strengths. They really hit the bullseye with the age of sorcery. No Skyrim copy, but something unique that also fit perfectly in both the original Conan lore and to the existing gameplay. To bad they are not to good at a bunch of other stuff….
I have to admit I started playing CE a few months ago, and I kinda lost interest in it because there is no story to play. I mean yes you have the goal to escape the exiled lands but the thing is that if you dont want to lose all your progress in the map you will not finish it. It reminds me a lot from the Age of Conan game. Up until The first boss battle with the tyrant in Tortage its full of lore, all the playable classes are doing their missions simultaneously giving the vibe that you are part of something bigger. And after you beat the big bad tyrant you are sent into the world with simply saying to go back to continue the story when you are 20 more levels. And you dont know what to do and get overwhelmed.
Considering Purges were opt in, and the way that do so would be down right foolish in the real world. "Hey I've got treasure, attack me!" If you are going to "proclaim your wealth" perhaps you should get an option to lie about it.
The only issue I have with this game is that it becomes suddenly boring when I have two berserkers. Up to this point it is a blast, but from this moment all challenge is gone.
The Age of War had way more bugs than the other Ages and it added little yet took away a lot. It made a lot of unwanted changes simply to appeal to the console market which in turn made PC more annoying to use at times, the stack splitting bug with a response from FunCom like a slug. Age of War could've been good and interesting but it was all in all a rather poor showing considering how relatively bug free most of Conan is, the Age of War ramped it up by 11 and then added nothing cool in the end.
I think the biggest disappointment was the purge itself... there was no lore reason behind it. It just became a late game 'raid' so to speak. It is kind of hard to go 'well here is a big scary thing' when you give the player it as an option, rather than a random event like it was before. They need to do a lot of tweaking, I think, in order to improve the game. I do not know what can be done with the engine at this point, but I think they need to do some fundamental bug passes, and as for new content, more instanced areas.
I enjoy the building & exploration, but I hang with PVPers. For an age of WAR there was practically no PVP content. There's a whole part of the game that get little to no love. They literally have little to do short of face off against hackers. This is the biggest problem, every hour spent on rotation mechanics and reworking then could have been spent working against hacks.
I didnt think Id enjoy AoS but I actually loved it. AoW was incredibly boring in my opinion, the purge revamp was the only positive for me. I know we have gone over this before and its been discussed to death but having new places/areas to explore with every new "age" would be great, but obviously thats never going to happen.
It's failing, as a game, because they are drip feeding content. They changed monetization schemes and update-release formats to purportedly provide more content. Instead, this game has stagnated and is drip-feeding content to it's player base. The 'Age of War' could have and should have been only one release, the whole 'Age' would have be sufficient as a single 6-month release. Instead it was excessively stretched across 4 updates? And the only real feature it brought was NPC sieges, which should now be a perennial feature to this game as it's a needed mechanic and motivation for base building. Yet, rather than creating a wealth of additional content (expanding existing maps, creating new maps, expanding endgame challenges like new world boss's and dungeons, or bringing new mechanics into base building like passive resource generation and colony simulation) they've instead chosen to chase temporary content on existing maps and push over-monetized cosmetics. This approach created the same effect in this games, as it has in most others who chase higher priced monetization while giving less overall content: the game atrophy's and player numbers drop. The Dev's need to remember Conan is a 'survival builder', add more survival and more building. I personally don't care about the lore, and I'd argue that most of us don't. Lore is a nice to have and creates a reason behind activities, but it's not necessary for most. To be successful, Conan need to do two things: First, they need to focus on adding new areas of the game world. Provide new maps or drastically add to existing maps, and provide an easy way to travel between them. These should include all the hallmarks of the existing two maps and should build upon the exploration and survival aspects which are the hallmark of this game. Don't rest on the same maps players have memorized, add new space to breath new life into this title. Give players a reason to make new characters and struggle through the early game, then give us a reason to explore in late game (unique resources, powerful items, challenging bosses, and awesome build locations). Shore up existing game loops. Second, they need to expand the base building system with tangible features. Give us NPC's which manage resource generation: NPC farms and farmer (everything from fish to food, fiber, or resin), add the ability to create NPC mine's that passively generates ores or coal, give us smiths, shops stalls, and add to the tavern system to build out more of an economic focus. Take the 'base' focus and lean into colony simulation with NPC management as the next progression in game loops. Which removes the mundane resource grind in late game, adds NPC management as an additional game loop, and frees up more time for combat, exploration, and building. Adding things like unique fishing, farming, or mining locations would then give intrinsic motivation to manage outposts and multiple base locations. And then a new game loop could then be resource transportation... Add game loops. The new 'Age' system has not built upon the existing game loops in a meaningful way, aside from the revamped purges. Nor has it created any additional game loops. They need to build on the core features of the this game which already highlight early exploration and survival, and then transitions into base building and defense. Those are the loops. Then add additional game loops as players master previous ones.
@@Eradicati0nn Everybody has limited resources. If you have one team for one project, and you create another team to another project, your resources will be divided between them. You did a nice job of saying the marketing interpretation, but that makes it even more clear that CE is not their priority.
With the nerf to Thralls and only getting the odd Tier3 Thralls now and again (Most being Entertainers), in your Tavern makes the whole point of it useless, I have Never seen any Tier4 Thralls or any craft /trade Thralls in my Tavern. All the Tavern ended up being is just another thing to add more lag and bugs to already laggy and buggy servers. Can’t wait for all the extra lag coming to Public Servers with the addition of “Living Settlements “🧐🤔
i must say the new battlepass system was the thing that turned me off from continueing to play the game, i used to be able to play a few days active then inactive for a few then active again and i could easy get the pass finished with the new system i felt that it tryed to force me to play each day and i hate this you must do this type of thing.
Well today the new age is going to be released, and for the first time in three years, I'm thinking of uninstalling the game... that's sad but really there's nothing that interests me anymore in this game... I'd hoped for new exploration contents but all the developers add are things community don't ask for, and I'm tired playing always the same contents. I'll save my sdd space for the new games that will come and maybe I'll reinstall exiles if developers will decide to improve the game for real. But I think that will never happen.
For better or worse, not gonna happen unless we get a sequel. The issues that plagued this update can (from my understanding) be fixed in UE4, shifting to UE5 would just create a huge backlog of engine work before any more content can be made I'm not opposed to a sequel though, as long as purchased assets transfer over
Yeah, and then to UE6, 7 and etc. Spoiler: this won't help. To make game better, the devs should learn how to listen community, fixing bugs and have passion for their game
Wait, I thought you were rooting for Funcom and defending their practices. And now this video? 🤔 They returned the old UI functionality later didn't they?
I hope that‘s the case, that AoW will be rock bottom and it gets better from here… let‘s see where it goes. I stored all my crafters and did a backup of my server… just in case 😅
Someone should just make a 5m sort of platform and combine conan with soulmask combat mechanics. Im a retard but i feel like that with unreal engine 5 would be insane and modders are always more competent than Dev teams for some odd reason.
community manager? bad idea, what we needed in the age of war was new weapon types or the ability to modify weapon attacks to keep things fresh over all the game is pretty boring combat has always been bad I'll say it over and over again the combat system needs an overhaul , a parry system would be good instead of having to retreat after attacking because we need to regain stamina it would make combat more interesting but I know you pvp players like it how it is blah blah playing the game on low settings to get better performance which makes the game look like Minecraft lol when Conan is beautiful on high settings. also getting rid of the battle pass was a bad idea as it was an incentive, and the store prices are ridiculous, but I guess we will have to wait to see what exactly the time and resources are being spent on instead now. also, the purge system still needs work I think they should try a fallout type system where random npcs show up to attack your base at any time would make things more interesting.
Al mariah totally sucks. I agree that it should be a seperate instance. It is ugly, accupies prime real estate, and wrecks performance. Also agree that they should stop tinkering with stuff that isn't broken... The combat - again. Just fix the bugs, add new stuff - but not big bolshy stuff that takes up map space (the map is kinda small). And the Bazzar is so annoying... still. Randomely cycling through a few little trinkets. I can't play this game every day, and I don't want to have to wonder when I will be able to buy the thing I want. Why can't I just buy what you are selling when ever I want - like when I have some extra cash - instead of having to wait for the right convergence of having the extra cash and it is available... Why would any of it be unavailable or only available from time to time... that is artificial scarcity outside of game. WHo though of that? It's dumb. Make it all available all the time. We are buying it with our money, but the devs seem to want to make a mini game out of us buying their stuff... This is an ethical problem. It agravates me and make me want to strangle them. I'm never going to stop playing the game (unless it gets worse and too annoying)... but I can not play it every day. To expect any adult to is ridiculous - I have to make money too... So I can spend it on their game. ...And play other games. This may be one of the best games for me , but it isn't the only one.
personally i didnt mind the age of war, for me it added some nice things, like the raid building which helps give a raid option to single player. probably the main thing i dont like is the new purge. Well truth i really like the new purge system i just hate that its now selectable, i would much prefer it to be random like it was previously,
Modder and server admin perspective - the biggest issue with everything Funcom have done in AoW and beyond is to do with performance. It's just so exasperating knowing that every new feature they add I'll have to disable because it'll bring my server's framerate to single digits otherwise. From our perspective the game's barely changed since AoS due to this. It's exasperating as a mod author too because I want to create challenging and fun boss fights but they're only fun if the game runs smoothly and Funcom seem to be doing everything in their power to stop that. And the way Al-Merayah tanks frames was just so predictable - the ratio of performance impact between placeables and building pieces is 1:100 or more but guess what, the fort is absolutely covered in placeables - barrels, palisades, furniture, torches - hundreds of them, to the point where this base would be illegal on every server I've ever played on. Framerates would probably be fine if the base was just building pieces with maybe a few dozen placeables. I want Age of Multithreading, or maybe Age of Simplified Pathing. But I expect that the next big feature will be raytracing, or maybe every character in the world will have a detailed real-time simulation of their gut flora, or something else that causes immense lag and changes nothing about the gameplay.
Watching this after Age of Heroes launched with mediocre, if cool, features and game breaking bugs that deleted many people's thralls... Not looking too promising.
I honestly believe it comes down to performance, missing bases, bugs, and broken effects. Charging ludicrous prices for things modders had done better previously also didn't help. As a former whale of the game, I just got tired of wondering how badly my base would be affected. I wouldn't open the game until at least 3 weeks after every update because I didn't trust the developers not to brake my game completely but half the time it was still broken or damaged. Now iv just stopped playing which wouldn't have happened if they either let modders take over or just got it right before releasing shoddy updates
Age of war and the combat system sucks. After 7 years already they couldn't fix that. They already changed 3 teams and every new is worse than the precedent. Many times I said we need a new map or expansion of the Exiles land. I there just to build. The rest I'm tired of the sams and the same all over again. Let's see what the new age of heroes will be.
One thing i think that will improve the game, is rework some stuff of gameplay, for example, we dont have a danger that come to us anymore like the old purge, was not too good, but better than nothing. In the game we have the lore of darfari hunting people in the night, will be nice if the game have a mechanic with them in the southern part that when the night come, you have to hide from their hunters roaming the land, rework on the animals combat to make then more "animal", imagine you walking in the desert and face a hyena pack hunters, or in the north with wolves, or in the jungle with the panthers, and most of the conan religions need sacrifices, you find groups hunting for sacrifice will be another challenge. In resume, conan get bored because we dont have that type of danger hunting us.
Haven't played in a while. Have crocodiles learned to swim yet? Or is that to much to ask at this stage of development?😂😂 The copeium is real. Looking forward to Dune everyone? Good luck.
Age of sorcery for me just did not work ! Personal opinion ! but age of war actualy made the game worse ! .. I hardly played this last 12 months ,,, Truth is i did not really understand what the age of war was about and soon realised ,, i did not care .. but lots of things simply no longer worked ! ,,
furthermore, they made the game extremely simple, especially in the survival component. But the most annoying thing is the blue light that the character emits at night
Conan needs more maps, more content, better weapon balancing, the repair kits need to go back to the way they were before the age of war because they're pointless now. Newer armor sets that can compete with the meta armor sets, delving should be available on both maps, and there should be a way to get map specific legendaries on both maps. Also carry weight needs to scale with level. The higher your level, the more stuff you can carry.
You made shitty cosmetic patches instead of adding new maps or fixing the fundamental mechanics of the game like your customers have been asking you to do for years. People are checked out and leaving now and they will not be going to your shitty new dune game because they know it will be more of the same bullshit they had to suffer through with conan.
It failed? I kinda liked it. I started playing probably just in may. Start of chapter 4, I think. I will say this. I do miss the old purge. I did play some back in 2018 and do remember that.
Ah yeah you avoided quite a few issues starting in Chapter 4, though at least you didn't have to suffer through them 😂 I quite like the new purge compared to the old one, the age had some good parts for sure but the overall picture is probably negative for most
Dying game. Pop count at its lowest. Devs don't care about pvp side, don't care about the official servers, don't care about glitches, bugs ...or hackers. PvE thrall walk around that no one asked for. Funcom...

Can't say it got me excited, but i didn't hate it, i like the Tavern system
Pointless, extra jank, Lag and bugs that will take Funcom months to fix, if they bother at all and show the same commitment to Console Servers as they have from the very conception.
To me it was a non event. It was as you say just there. As a 50 year old who grew up as a boy watching the films and reading the books this has completely missed the mark.
I hate the bazaar which is just a money grab by the Devs because they have no other source income
Overall this game has been a huge let down.
Hey, I know you 😀
Bazaar wasn't a bad idea if they would continue to add game content and tune down prices (x2-x3 times the current ones)
@DmytroBogdan i agree. 3 or 4 bucks max for big items and a buck for smaller items. They need to add new areas every season. Id rather have place to explore than some new quirk in combat.
Its not all about exploration. The pvp in this game is unique and fun. The devs make changes that make pvp less fun
New maps needed. Over both maps
That, and the awful re-invention of the inventory window.
Yes, falling through floors and removing the bracelet to escape is ridiculous......
Fixing systems that don't need meddling and fixing were my biggest annoyance with this chapter. It seems this will be a continuing issue
It was fun actually insane but a lot of fun with how much crazy things would happen on the road back to your base
yeah, the treasures to carry are cool in concept but having to haul it back to your base is annoying. They could have also added a new thing for the horses to carry so that they could get some more attention and use
@@timerious God forbid your base is across a body of water.. 🤬🤦 you literally have to build a bridge just to get across 🙄
They have a fully announced game called "Dune: Awakening" coming out early next year. It has a building system like Conan Exiles.
Does anyone else miss how temperature, armor weather resistance, and sandstorms used to be?
Yes
Farming gold, silver, or picking up gilded treaaure items rather than the epic treasures, was faster and more efficient.
The biggest issues i had with the Age of War, was the foundation glitch, and falling through them, and being unable to climb out, or delete them
i agree the game is not dead, but i hope the bazaar prices changes to be more reasonable, hopefully more bugfix and no revamp of things that didn't need revamp.
what Conan really need is the big storyline, not those letters from Rasma, but the whole storyline with different choices, cutscenes, cool characters, rewards etc
And ofcourse this game need new space to explore, because this game aobout exploration.
I would love more fleshed out amazons. We can get them in siptah for now.
Thanks for the video. I completely agree with you Mate. I even think that you may be right :)
War has an incredibly great potential for great stories about heroic battles, powerful heroes...
They deny it... but... yeah, I suspect you may be correct.
Honestly, where this age really FELL hard was through fricking foundations. Age of FIXING STUFF PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wish there were more dungeons and quests with rewards more like Skyrim but still Conan and I wish we could play as Conan
To me by far the worst thing they introduced into the game was follower AWOL as a feature and the Fall through floors and foundations mechanics. They had no business introducing those features.
just started playing, might make a couple videos on it!
The follower changes without increasing the follower cap is another bad change.
"Looking toward the future, will anything change?"
Nope!
And it would have save the ruin of al merayah because it was actually a good spot for farming npc, with named thrall, bearer and sorcerers.
the bug introduced during age of war where thralls get stuck in place unable to move during combat still hasn't been addressed
@@infernohellknight old purge had min base size before it would spawn. old purge is better.
@@erpherp4047 Sorry, but it's not. I like the new one. It gives you time to prepare and think of some brainstorms on how to build your base.
Just a thought maybe you should own it and help that player get back some of what they lost.
@MrAdrianlk I did tell him if he needed anything to let me know, i do have chests full of legendaryweapons, all he asked for was a Greater Sabertooth so I gave him 4. I usually own up to my shit but I just felt so bad this time. I am better so I will do better 👍 👌
this is why if you want to share your portal keep it outside
@@VeridianHerald Yeah hopefully I'm correct in thinking that time is the issue, I'd rather like to not be talking about bugs and development problems so often 😂
To my knowledge, there is a CM team, but I know some of them are spread across multiple Funcom titles. Andy and Nicole are probably the two most well-known given their stream appearances, but I think there are a couple of others like Caroll, plus ones like Ignasi that seem to work across multiple titles, probably by virtue of their tenure with Funcom
The forums especially are rough a lot of the time, I'm thinking the quiet is just in the run-up to the update actually dropping, I imagine even CMs have a lot of work to do getting documentation and such ready.
I do try to balance that optimism as best as possible though
I think we're all on edge for the release.
Level 1 purge to get barman and souls for temple upgrede is all that needed
Raid stigians back.
Hilariously, my google fixed the word Funcom to Uncomfortable in my original post, and I almost left it. It seemed apt
…a lot…
I'd pick up a treasure, take 5 minutes to walk 100 yards and be like, "Nah, F this.", drop it and move on.
2 second chapter wiped all my progress and builds. I loaded up the game after the update and I lost all of my thralls and my base.
I do not know what can be done with the engine at this point, but I think they need to do some fundamental bug passes, and as for new content, more instanced areas.
i think they should expand the map outand give us new place but other then any clue on what time the update will take place on conan
I started with age of war lol
I enjoy the building & exploration, but I hang with PVPers. For an age of WAR there was practically no PVP content. There's a whole part of the game that get little to no love. They literally have little to do short of face off against hackers. This is the biggest problem, every hour spent on rotation mechanics and reworking then could have been spent working against hacks.
Bad content, but great for us Stygian players who got ALL the loot!
They should bring back god bubble back and focus on making missions and lore content.
What do you do with all that treasure?
dont have much problems with the FPS at Al-Merayah, after i nuked it (nearly cooking my rig) for some reason its never rebuilt it's self
Then add additional game loops as players master previous ones.
i miss the old purge system :(
Started good. Then glitches made the game unplayable for long periods of time.
True, were it not for the massive bugs I think most would have forgiven & forgotten Chapter 1 being relatively light on features
its fairly obvious that theyve deployed their limited resources into Dune and put conan in care and maintenance mode
Dune & Conan are completely separate teams, as confirmed by the Conan devs themselves. It's fortunately not a factor
I could never do a lvl 10 purge cus the server would crash :/
i must say the new battlepass system was the thing that turned me off from continueing to play the game, i used to be able to play a few days active then inactive for a few then active again and i could easy get the pass finished with the new system i felt that it tryed to force me to play each day and i hate this you must do this type of thing.
Conan just needs to be upgraded to UE5
This is the way.
IMO Funcom needs to create a sequel to Conan Exiles. They have done everything that they can in the exiled lands.
For better or worse, not gonna happen unless we get a sequel. The issues that plagued this update can (from my understanding) be fixed in UE4, shifting to UE5 would just create a huge backlog of engine work before any more content can be made
I'm not opposed to a sequel though, as long as purchased assets transfer over
Yeah, and then to UE6, 7 and etc. Spoiler: this won't help. To make game better, the devs should learn how to listen community, fixing bugs and have passion for their game
Wait, I thought you were rooting for Funcom and defending their practices. And now this video? 🤔
They returned the old UI functionality later didn't they?
Felt empty to me. The building system although is the best I’ve seen.
purge is useless i like the old purge very useful unlike now is dull
Well truth i really like the new purge system i just hate that its now selectable, i would much prefer it to be random like it was previously,
siptah is buggy as hell, wish they would fix stuff before the add stuff..
The game is dead, once u reach level 60 and get all good stuff legendary and dominate the bosses. There's nothing to do aside from purge
In resume, conan get bored because we dont have that type of danger hunting us.
the devs probably don't even know what they want in the game. but they want money. lol
Haven't played in a while. Have crocodiles learned to swim yet? Or is that to much to ask at this stage of development?😂😂 The copeium is real. Looking forward to Dune everyone? Good luck.
Age of sorcery for me just did not work ! Personal opinion ! but age of war actualy made the game worse ! .. I hardly played this last 12 months ,,, Truth is i did not really understand what the age of war was about and soon realised ,, i did not care .. but lots of things simply no longer worked ! ,,
Demanding more story on a sandbox survival... the problem was to atempt to introduce a story to begin with
furthermore, they made the game extremely simple, especially in the survival component.
BUGS, a lot of cash BS, more BUGS and glitches...., CHEATERS? what else more money grabbing stuff...
You made shitty cosmetic patches instead of adding new maps or fixing the fundamental mechanics of the game like your customers have been asking you to do for years. People are checked out and leaving now and they will not be going to your shitty new dune game because they know it will be more of the same bullshit they had to suffer through with conan.
it was ok
It failed? I kinda liked it. I started playing probably just in may. Start of chapter 4, I think. I will say this. I do miss the old purge. I did play some back in 2018 and do remember that.
Ah yeah you avoided quite a few issues starting in Chapter 4, though at least you didn't have to suffer through them 😂 I quite like the new purge compared to the old one, the age had some good parts for sure but the overall picture is probably negative for most
This whole game failed. It could have been great but its just a worthless game now.
Dont forget that the developers literally don't listen to their community. Now Conan is super dead. What do they expect?
what do you mean fail . It was awesome
Dying game. Pop count at its lowest. Devs don't care about pvp side, don't care about the official servers, don't care about glitches, bugs ...or hackers.
PvE thrall walk around that no one asked for. Funcom...
