    how do you set the timing on the crankshaft MED S PULLEY - STANDARD when there is nothing on it to identify with a timing light.

    It would be excellent if same video is done for the belt timing kit!

    How do you set the timing when you have no timing bracket on the cover plate? Or timing mark on the crankshaft dampener. I just bought one from MED and I am confused how to set the timing.

      How did you set the timing in the end? Did you make your own mark's

      @@jamesrickwood6333 I had to exchange the solid crankshaft pulley for a slotted one where MED took one of the teeth out at the right place. The there is a sensor bracket you can usethat bolt to the lower cover of the block you can use as a timing mark

    Nice CNC machined modification and nice vernier Sprocket, ideal for timing and re-timing the cam. Not sure about the large "O" ring. That in principle I understand, but am not the greatest lover of "O" rings, especially a large small diameter "O" ring. The cover and body look to have been machined very accurately with a good finish and two flat faces butting, I think maybe Hylomar as used for this type of requirement in turbines. Nice job though.

      It's less messy than silicone sealer and does a good job as an oil seal :)

    i bout this setup and MED pulley kit , looks great and i love it. the only problem i have is once it the car i can't get a fan belt on because pulley is to close to motor mount, 93 mini cooper. had to modify the mount to get the belt on so they can be changed in car if need be..

      Ok, sorry to hear that. Sometimes it is necessary to file the mount for a bit of extra clearance, depending on the mount, as there are a few different ones.

    We always used a flat washer on slots at work, so the spring washer didn’t go into the slot.

    I always watch an MED video before coming to the site to buy the part. I assume the sensor bracket will work with Specialist 5-port EFI?

    Hi would you recommend using gasket sealer on the gasket? Also would you recommend loctight? Merry Christmas

    • @MEDEngineeringTechVideos
      @MEDEngineeringTechVideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not essential, but a very light smear of sealer never goes amiss. If you're using a clean block face and new timing plate, grease will do the job nicely. We don't tend to use Loctite here as you'll never get the bolts undone again in future. If tightened up properly, they shouldn't work loose.

    Hi, i can´t find billet aluminium timing cover in MED Shop. I can find it for cambelt drive. Out of stock?

  • @user-du8cs8sn2v
    @user-du8cs8sn2v 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    But if you still have to remove the balancer to access the adjustable cam gear, what's the point?
    Does the 3 piece cover you make for a timing belt also accept the adjustable cam gear intended for a chain drive?

    • @MEDEngineeringTechVideos
      @MEDEngineeringTechVideos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, The main aim is to eliminate oil leaks, as the standard covers all tend to leak after a few times removing and refitting the fixings. It means you can leave the outer case fitted while setting cam timing, but all the oil will come out if you try to do this in situ.
      The cambelt runs dry, different setup.

    I can see why he didn't do the nuts up. I've just fitted mine today and you cannot get a socket on about 3 of the nuts! As it's too close the the body. Shame as I wanted to torque it up so I can get them all the same torque setting.

      It was just quicker that way. Nipped up with a spanner will be ideal as the cover won't distort. Well, unless you've eaten too many Weetabix! Give us a call on Monday if you'd like any tips :)

      @@MrBerty1988 If it's suitable for a 36:1 trigger wheel and the Magnetti Marelli CPS plug, then yes. Most are - it's quite generic.
