What an emotive video, I love cars because of the "Circuito del Jarama". As many "Madrileños", I grew up watching Antonio race his truck there, he is a living legend and that mini was amazing.
Un coche unico, ideado y construido por un maestro en la mecánica.Este Mini Me-Pre es el legado perfecto de Antonio Albacete Senior y un lujo verlo en Petrolicius.
Hi. Thank you Antonio Albacete for letting us know a small part of the legacy left by your father and that today you continue to make your and your future generations. A wonderful video demonstrating the years of dedication and passion for the motor world. I am proud that my mini cooper has part of that magic made by your hands, when in the worst moments I was frustrated with my restoration. Thanks, Antonio Albacete.
Besides the "Twinnie," this is one of the meanest sounding Mini's I've ever heard. Absolutely thunderous and sonorous at the same time! And along with having an amazing Mini, this guy has a pretty impressive trophy room. It's the kind of trophy room that says you're either divorced or have a very understanding wife. In fact, looking at all those trophies I'm surprised he has time to do anything else but race! Really awesome car and as is the norm with Petrolicious, really cool story.
I imagine that engine set-up, which is unique to me (never seen TWO twin-choke Webers on the two-port BMC 'A' series), accounts for that gloriously ba-a-ad sound. Looks really mean, too.
One of the reasons I bought a classic mini. Videos on here and also a friend taking me for a spin in his John cooper works. They are great little cars.
We are allowed to work ourselfs with classic cars. We can't even change the brakes on a Audi A6 for example without hacking the computer. There is nothing like the sound, experience, fun with an classic car.
I used to own a 1966 Minisprint 1275S, the basis for Sr Albacete's car. Being chopped by about 3" overall, it was significantly lighter than a normal Cooper S and, of course, much more slippery through the air. All of the out-turned body seams, characteristic of earlier Minis, were ground off, so there was very little wind noise. It did a genuine 110mph (a standard S officially topped out at 99) with only the engine, gear, and tyre noise. Captivating little car.
@@shanehnorman i haven't the specs now but I remember that aren't very good. There're a blend of models with and specifics badges and finishes for Spain. This models wetw build in Spain under license of British Leyland
Great video as always. I had a late 70s stripped out, deseamed Mini with 1275 engine almost thirty years ago. That was followed by a couple of Mk1 Golf GTIs. They were great but nothing ever felt the same as that Mini.
The crossflow head he is talking about,is called an ARDEN head, developed in the early 70s, to replace the standard Mini cast iron head which has the inlet and exhaust on the same side, at the back of the motor. Whereas the ARDEN head is aluminum alloy, and has the inlet on the front and exhaust at the back. The Mini since it's inception in 1959,used the A series motor, until the seventies
Idk why youtube didn't give me notifications about new video from Petrolicious, so I search it manually and i don't regret it, great story as always, made my Tuesday
PS: Shame it doesn't have the cross flow head any more - but this way, at least the bonnet doesn't have that typical bulge hanging over the grille. :-)
I've heard that also - but I _think_ the earlier ones were just a chopped roof, and the later Sprints had about an inch removed from the body also. I'll look around and see what I can find. :-)
I have a very strong love for the Mini, and how the Mini looks. This one, with the low roof, looks crap to me. That said i love that it's still running an A-series engine, and i'm sure it's a ton of fun to drive. ..and i fully understand why he wants to keep it in the family.
Be careful. They can be addictive. I bought a stock standard '69 in very good condition. I had planned on keeping it standard. That lasted about 12 months. Had the motor reconditioned with only a slight cam. Still standard though. But, I couldn't drive it slow, so........$$$$$ on mags and sticky just legal tyres.....disc brakes......another engine rebuild...awesome exhaust system (much, much more grunt) sports steering wheel....improved front suspension and I haven't finished yet. Regrets? None.
Love your mini! I have a set of wheels like yours. They are identical , 7” x 10”. Can you tell me who made them? I have had them for 30 years and nobody has any information on them. Hopefully , you know. Regards Ian
Because short people like you can't understand that the world is much bigger than their minds. Don't worry, the car still is spaniard even when his owner can talk other languages. Thanks to Petrolicious and Antonio.
Porque Petrolicious es un canal de habla inglesa y porque Antonio Albacete, como piloto que ha competido a nivel internacional y con equipos internacionales, habla inglés también
Just when I've had my fill of Bibi and Trump and all the shite trending on TH-cam, phew, along comes another Petrolicious episode. Big thanks to the team!
I agree with you but it is racing, then you do what works for you or gets you faster. Maybe I would have some problems with my height even an original one, but this one is impossible for me to fit in. It is made for him and I like his passion about that car, it really means a lot to owner! There is no reason you to say that you're sorry for your opinion, everybody has one or even more! They say that opinion is like an asshole because everyone has one. :)

Great person Antonio and a THE Mini guy in Spain. Happy that he takes care of mine!!
im in absolute love with this mini. the looks the sound the provenance . that is one lucky man i m glad someone gets to enjoy this beast
Amazing that Albacete drive and race almost everything but the passion for the Minis is forever, great vídeo, fantastic Mini.Thankyou Petrolicious.
There is nothing, nothing, and I mean absolutely nothing like an older, classic car. Especially a mini!
One of the reasons I bought a classic mini. Videos on here and also a friend taking me for a spin in his John cooper works. They are great little cars.

Gracias Antonio, por mostrar
esta maravilla. 👏👏👏!!!
Loos very cool with the low roof
León B True! The low roof gives off a sporty look to what is exactly a classic car
I love the car, it sounds amazing, it looks incredible, and most importantly it has such a wonderful story.
And it obviously goes like hell.
5:07 to 5:15.... Sounds like heaven!!! Absolute GLORY!!!!!
Beautiful.. From the shape of the body, to the rough, mean sound of the engine.. Perfect.

swept back windscreen, lowered roof and widened track made a special mini, lovely work
Select few have rack full of trophies, this man here has a room full of them 😳
That is absolutely wicked, you hang on to it! Damn, I want one.........
Damn, I didn't even realise the roof was lowered until he said so. True craftsmanship!
Once again another finely shot and edited video. Lots of great angles and footage. Thanks
He is a living legend here in Spain. Respect
Hacía mucho que no veía esta pieza única. Qué tiempos...
That looks great with the top chopped like that.

Got to buy back med 1971 mini back. :-)
Enorme, Don Antonio Albacete. Y el Jarama, mas bonito que nunca.
What an absolute beauty! Love the story and the cinematography of your videos, simply lovely 😊

Muy grande Antonio Albacete, menudo carrazo de carreras de verdad.
What a video !! Great work from you guys Petrolicious to find such a famous spanish character inside the spanish racing culture!!!
I'm not normally a fan of the mini, but this is one damn cool car.
Gave me feels in places I've not felt before
sometimes there is no money that can bay a classic race car with beautiful memorise.
That car looks like and absolute blast to drive!
Un trocito de historia!!...precioso. Gracias
Elle a un look super avec son top chop du toit et ce coloris noir et or.
Encore une belle ancienne 👍
I think this is my favourite episode I love old minis it looks and sounds gorgeous ❤️👌🏻😊🤗
Really does look like a minisprint. Heck, he even kept that dear A-series engine ! I kinda like it ...
Yea...I thought it looked like a Sprint (or at least, it's been chopped like a Sprint.) Either way - very tasty indeed. :-)
PS: Shame it doesn't have the cross flow head any more - but this way, at least the bonnet doesn't have that typical bulge hanging over the grille. :-)
@@aussiebloke609 You know, a well ported 5 ports head can produce enough power on itself :) but I agree, I really dig that ITB look ...
If memory serves me.......the minisprint also had some of the body taken out heightwise. I'll have to get googling!
I've heard that also - but I _think_ the earlier ones were just a chopped roof, and the later Sprints had about an inch removed from the body also.

I designed this look to Gran Turismo Sport! You can download it. I know this car in person and it’s insane. What a sound! Pure racing.
Is there a way to give a video two likes?
Seriously though, cool car. It looks brilliant with the chopped roof and the widebody.
