You could try going to your embassy and asking for a document that certificates that the new passport is a replacement for your old passport. I think with that document, the problem would be solved. Maybe you also need to register that document on a chinese notary so it can be used (ask your embassy if they can do it for you).
As a foreigner in China, if you lost your passport or if your passport is damaged or something, the first thing to do is to head to the nearest police station to report it. A similar thing should be done if you renewed your old passport for a new one.
small tip for getting change in China: buy a low price item and pay them with larger amount of money, haha. Don’t be upset, some shop owners are unwilling to exchange change with locals as well
You may want to keep a scanned copy of your visa documents and passport in the files app on your iPhone They normally wouldn’t accept it but sometimes people may take pity and use it as proof that you once had it It has helped me a bunch of times as an international student

They gave you change because they have them in the school, the stores outside of the school mostly no change, people don’t use cash for many years,expecaily those food shops

It's better to have a letter from embassy to confirm your passport number has been changed. 2. you also need to visit foreign bureau office to change your students info in the system . 3. You should to go the bank with your confirmation letter from bureau .

I have a hack for the thing with the glasses! What I do is pinch the metal part of the surgical mask above my nose (the pinched part will sit on your nose and protrude) and then wear my glasses over it so the glasses can't slide under. Chinese like stamps, you may ask your country's embassy in China where you replaced your lost passport to issue a statement indicating the old passport(with number) belongs to you, and stamp it, so the bank can update your information and reactivate your account.
They have to use your old passport to verify your name age date of birthdate because they don’t know u could be using a different name now and have a different age and date of birth so to verify and match your name age and date of birth they need to use the original information which is on the old document even though they still had your old passport in the system but they needed u to verify that’s really you and do the information matched but they wasn’t able to since u didn’t have your old passport in hand I know it’s difficult most definitely when you loose it 😢

Some processes are unreasonably designed and are not aimed at foreigners. In the past, many Chinese complained that the process of handling some documents was too complicated. Only in recent years has it improved.
actually，the protocols are for every one. it's not the bank link your bank account to your wechat, the users ought to do it by themself via wechat app. I guess that your SIM card was not registrated with your name correctly, which is required by law, result in your wechat got wrong name from the SIM card registration info. Apps are also required to registrate with real name by law. And wechat pay will check if the name match with the bank account you are linking with. So the problem might be the dismatch of two accounts. Hope it would help a little, and you will fix the problem soon.

I actually do love china and it’s policies even with the little sentiments and critic , every country has its own flaw , especially my Home country. they are doing you and your money a favor by upholding security standard. Anyone could have gone in with an ID different from the file and ask to withdraw all the money ... so you need to reconcile that with the passport issuing authority - maybe they can give a lost passport certificate?
Hey. I once lost my passport as well and had to update my information too. They wanted proof of loss. So if you have the police report or the paper from immigration stating that you lost your passport you will be able to update your information. My bank is Bank of China though.
urrr a suggestion here, in Chinese culture especially among the elder people, if you buy sth cheap first, and use your ten rmb to pay for it, then she may be willing to exchange 1yuan for you. That means you support her little business. Not all sellers are kind enough, but that is not only to African or foreigners I think...

You should always make digital copies of your passport, id, and other important documents and store them in the safe place or the cloud.
