    FYI - Torque on the O2 sensors is 33 ft-lb. Make sure to reinstall with anti-seize! It can also help to break the torque on these while the exhaust is still hot (metal is expanded).

    Pro tip... If those exhaust flange bolts won't come out, cut them off with a Cutoff wheel on an angle grinder or a hand dremel while being careful not to chop up the flange itself. I usually cut the nuts in half and then punch out the bolts.

    I am replacing the exhaust. How tight should the Exhaust Bolt and Spring be? I was thinking of making it tight and then backing it off around one or two turns.

    Do you have to use anti seize and what’s the benefit of using it

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exhaust parts are high corrosion and are very tough to remove when corrosion welded. Antiseize makes it easy for future replacements by helping prevent seizing and galling

    Hey buddy great video and I'm a new subscriber to your channel because of it. I ran a diagnostic and I need to replace the cat on a 05 Tacoma off-road. I'm assuming the same product that you used here would be a suitable replacement. Could you share that product name and brand? Thanks so much for your work. It's great

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are 4 Cats on the Tacoma. Are you asking about these 2 Cats in the video or the 2 Cats upstream next to the headers? Plus there's the left and right sides. Regardless, I would recommend going to rockauto.com to get the proper cats - best of luck!

    • @gabericks
      @gabericks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KFloTacoma That is very good to know. I'm getting a P0430 code. Do you recommend just replacing all four? A Toyota tech recommending trying to clean the old ones first. Thanks a million

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      P0430 is for the O2 sensor on the Cat. P0430 Bank 2 is driver's side: Bank 2 is side of engine w/#2 cylinder, which is driver's side. I would recommend change out the 02 sensor first because that's a much easier job that doesn't require removal of any exhaust parts. If the problem persists then you can change the cat - which is definitely much more labor intensive

      @@gabericks I'm dealing with the same thing and plan on just cleaning the cats and replacing the O2 sensors before spending all that money on new cats. I'm just planning on soaking them in a tote full of heavy detergent.

    What kind of exhaust gaskets did you use are they all the same for all three the ones I was looking at OEM Toyota were $37.00 apiece? And what bolts size did you use for manifold to rear cats? I’m worried about breaking studs?

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      All three were not the same. I don't know the specific model that you have but TacomaWorld has the diagrams for the exhaust. For nut sizes, I would recommend buying a thread gauge @ 3:51 you'll be able to get the proper thread types (amazon.kflo-krib.com) in terms of breaking studs, it will happen with exhaust work in wet and damp environments. Use the thread gauge to buy Stainless steel bolts (@ 4:41)

      The 2 in the front 90080-43036 the one in the rear:90917-A6005 and yeah about $80 for 3 gaskets😮

  • @ironcross7854
    @ironcross7854 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    My gasket went where the straight pipe connects to the converter. Is this a known common problem for Tacoma's? You're video gives me an idea what to do.

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The exhaust system is a high corrosion area due to temperature and location, plus if you live in the rust belt, the gaskets will definitely degrade fairly quickly. I'm not sure if it's a common problem with Tacomas, because it has happened on my previous non-toyota cars.

    Why did you need to remove O 2 sensors and isn’t there a special tool?

    • @KFloTacoma
      @KFloTacoma  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a CEL that required me to replace the driver side 02 sensor. as for the other question, the 02 sensor has a hex body, a closed end wrench worked just as fine - saved me the money as well as time with having to go out to rent them.
