@ Asia And BJ I was born and raised in Detroit. I was a bit over a year old when the 1967 riots happened. It was the summer Detroit was on fire. We were one of only 3 white families in our neighborhood all the other families were black, but you know what? While most of the city was turning against each other because of skin color, our neighborhood drew closer together. We worked even hard to take care of each other, to care more for each other, to watch over and protect each other that much more. Whatching your videos remind me so much of this beautiful couple that actually did live down the street from the house I grew up in. They were in their lare 30s to early 40s when I was a kid and I always liked helping out around their house. Kohn loved building homemade telescopes and had a passion for astronomy. Mary loved her vegetable garden behind their garage. I learned so much from the both of them. After basic training, the police academy, infantry school and gunners specials school I was stationed in Germany 85-87. I didn't come home on leave until April of 86. She told me that both had passed a few years back and asked how I knew them. I told her who I was. She looked at me with a smile and crying and said she had been looking for me for a while. Angela, her name, had taken me in the house and I was so amazed house everything was the same. Angela took me down into the basement and showed me a telescope that John and I had built together. You're exactly right. Kids don't see color they see the person you are. I always believe prejudice is taught, not something you're born with. And that's such a shame.
I didn’t know anything about racism are what it stood for until I got in my high teens and I had friends of all colors and we always met in the middle of the trailer park just about everyday and played until dark are until our parents hunted us down. I was actually in a church group called Royal Rangers which is just like Boy Scouts and I invited all my friends to it know matter there color. Matter of fact the number one person I invited was James and he was black. The number of problem is the politics and media. They do everything to keep us divided so they will have unlimited amount of power.
You can't say racism is taught because it would have had to have started somewhere. We are taught to see differences and when we are insecure we attack people who are different to boost our self esteem. Racism isn't some super evil it is structurally the same as people hating on the elderly, fat, bald or whatever. In Japan and India they do it based on ancestry but look the same. Humans who are unhappy look for differences to tear others down. When you bring someone down it appears you are being lifted up.
Unfortunately, our world and much of our news and programming on tv continues to try to show a difference in color, sexual orientation and religion. People think that if it isn't discussed it won't change but it's just the opposite. As long as we point out differences or give groups of people special attention or special treatment kids are always going to grow up seeing those differences. Simple things like Alicia Keys "Shine, shine my black sunshine!" commercials on Nickelodeon.... Some people will say "Wow, that's a great positive message for young black kids" but my son, who is 4 years old, white and doesn't recognize color of skin as a difference among people said to me "I don't get it, the sun is yellow. It isn't even black." So do I explain to my 4yo that they are talking about the little kids being black and then also explain to him why they are called black and not brown, that brown is reserved for another ethnic group? Then when he asks why she is asking the black kids to shine and why they get to shine but he doesn't do I go into detail, again with a 4yo and explain to him how African Americans were treated over history and how in some areas they are still seen as different or lesser than other people or repressed? Why does he need to be told or taught that when he should be the one who is doing the teaching. Teaching adults how to not see color and just seen another kid on TV. It is never going to get better, ever, by pointing out differences even if you don't think you are doing it to divide...
It's not a question of not seeing color - of course, people/kids see color - but they don't see color as a filter of whether someone is good or bad. It's just a part of who they are, and part of what makes them interesting, unique, and beautiful as a person.
When I think of all that God has done for me in my 73 years, I cannot help but to shed a tear of joy whenever I hear the chorus of this song because it points me to Jesus. @@Almcingrid3663not all Bibles. The ones with the red are called the red letter editions. A lot of children's Bibles have this. It helps them to distinguish which words were spoken by Jesus. Adults can usually tell the difference by the context.
Not quite true, This song since it's release is sung at every Brooks & Dunn concert, And still is sung at concerts today. This was one of their biggest hits, And gets a great reaction from the audience every time. Trust me I know, Been to see these guys 95 times since 1998,
This song is soooo good and based on a true story, Ronnie’s vocals in this song are amazing And yes, Ronnie Dunn is the singer and Kix Brooks is on the guitar….love is color blind ***SONG REQUEST*** The little girl by John Michael Montgomery….one of the heaviest songs in country music PLEASE check it out
You have to do this song! It's called "This ain't nothing" it is one of the most incredible songs talking about putting things into perspective. What is actually a big deal and what isn't. It's a tear jerker for sure. th-cam.com/video/eSdItuvBxc8/w-d-xo.html
This song was written by Ronnie Dunn about his childhood!! This was a true experience he had and it’s really hard for him to sing this without breaking down!!
Another thing about this song and video is it shows how truly amazing it is when children are raised without hate and to see everyone as a person regardless of color. This is how I was raised. How my wife was raised rest her soul and exactly how we/I are raising our children. Love this and lots of love to you guys
The last scene in that video always hits me the hardest and maybe it is just my interpretation but I see it that just when the boy was hurting the most, the old man blew those pages of the Bible aside to reveal the picture of his wife and baby as if to say, "Don't cry for me, I am home with my wife and baby" So even in death he was helping the boy.
I was lucky to grow up with multiple older people in my childhood. Yes, one of them was a great older black gentleman named Willie Brown. He, his wife Elizabeth, and their daughter Mary were awesome people that treated me with kindness and I will never forget them.
My grandma cried hard hearing this song after her husband and my grandfather died. I saw the video when it first came out and if you notice in the video the old man lost his life partner and the boy didn't have a father at all. So love brought them together through believing that they'd see their loved ones after it's all over, and their suffering was worth that love.
This is as much a statement of faith as it is the eulogy of an old friend. Growing up in Oklahoma with old claim folk I had many old friends that passed when I was fairly young. I know the feeling. I have many stories of early Oklahoma in my head and heart. More importantly, I have Jesus in my heart. God bless.❤️❤️
This song rejuvenates my faith. My Mom died in 2006 she was 95, my brother 65, and I was 55. She showed her belief just like " Old Man Wrigley." This song brings her back to me, though I still think of her every day. Several losses had shaken me this year, and I discovered this song : now I listen daily!❤
I'm coming across this beautiful reaction, 2 years later..mainly bc I love this song (not my normal genre to listen to) and I love seeing these reactions! When I was a kid, it was normal in my household to take a few things from the garden to the new widow/widower, whoever needed a little "help" without asking for it and I had the pleasure of knowing alot of the elders around my community. They seemed to enjoy the fresh vegetables weekly but the time spent just talking with them, listening to their stories...priceless. you learn to appreciate how good God really is, having good morales and values, integrity, honesty, and most importantly, love for your neighbor. Seems be lost these days but I still believe and I still love, regardless.
This is based on Ronnie Dunn’s life. He had a old gentleman he was friends with growing up. Also he was studying at the seminary to become an ordained minster (pastor) when he went into music instead. This duo split up a few years ago to do solo things and now are coming back together to do some more music.
What I take from this to a certain degree, is that between this innocent child, and this elderly experienced man both have pure hearts. Neither color nor age played a part in their lives and sin hadn't been able to take hold. Love won out.
It is not a sad song. It is a powerful song. "I'll see my wife and son in just a little while". His passing reunited him with his wife and son. It also made the young man realize how much his time spent with and wisdom shared by the older gentleman was priceless.
Obviously his parents didn't teach hate but actually sent the child with gifts. Who's going to say no to a child. Had the parents went they might have been rejected.
Being a 57 year old man (yes, I am white) raised in the south racism is hard to overcome. But good people are good people no matter the color of their skin, their political beliefs, the sexual orientation, or their financial status. Just found you guys a couple days ago, love y'all. Such a beautiful couple.
Yes, I am 61 years old. Our father was in the army, so we always moved around pretty much our hole childhood. My parents taught us kids to respect everyone as you would want to treated. We lived in the south in different bases, and had many friends of color, religion. Back in 1968 we had a very good female a African - american friend, and expierenced racism. We remained friends for many years until her unfortunate passing. Mom and dad are in heaven now. We raised our adult children, to be respectful of everyone, regardless of race, religion, or sexual preferences. Unfortunately today their is so much hate and racism in our country, so sad.
Such a great reaction!!! I really struggle to not ball my eyes out. The innocence of the kid who it seems could never be corrupted. He seemed like a good man in College. Apparently it's a true story about Ronnie Dunn the singer. Incredible.
At the beginning of the song it says his mom would send him over with things for the old man. So he learned from his mom that color didn't matter. Because she showed that she cared about the old man, the boy learned from her to care about people.
@@belleferrar8898 ...My favorite from Brooks and Dunn... Saw them live at the Greek Theatre... There was a full moon overhead... One of the sweetest moments of my life...
There is ABSOLUTELY no color in my eye’s. We ALL bleed the same. My Daddy always told me to be kind to everyone know matter what Color or Religion. And young man you we’re right on! We need more of this music today. 😔Love you two ♥️GOD BLESS 🙏🏻
the story of the Garden of Eden is reflected in every person’s life. Children show us how it would be to live in the garden. Then, some where around puberty, we eat from the tree of knowledge and we turn. We reject everything we knew, we chase flesh (fig leaves) and are tricked into believing things of this world is what’s important. If we listen to our own hearts, we know there’s something better, because we all started there. Love
My middle son when he was about 4 he would listen to this song, back when I was into country, he would always have one tear come down. Funny how I just remembered that.
I can't imagine hating someone because of the color of their skin. We're all instruments in God's choir, and it wouldn't sound right with even 1 voice missing.
There's no jew nor gentile no male or female, no slave or free man we are all one in Christ Jesus for those who believe. I can't wait until we are in Heaven in that heavenly Choir, perfect fellowship and love, no divisions or hate. With the God who IS Love. This song gets me fired up again and again everytime I hear it. When the Roll is called up Yonder, I will be there, Amen.
Yes they are both there. The guy in the video playing the guitar is Brooks. The guy singing is Dunn. They are the group they call themselves Brooks and Dunn. They’re a duo one of the best in country music ever.❤
God...I'd have to say you two are my favorites on here. Love how you both break down and talk over songs and lyrics. You two are cool as shit!! Love it!! ❤
I was truly blessed with a similar childhood. I thank God for my parents asking Constance, my guardian/nanny/my angel, to babysit my two brothers and me daily growing up. I thank God even more that she accepted the challenge of having to spend long days until the evenings sometimes with three boys. She could control us with such a calm loving voice that our parents had no chance of that happening with my parents, lol. Although a good switch I would have to pick myself sometimes worked pretty well 😄. We loved Constance so much that we just didn't want to disappoint her in any way. I remember needing stitches in my face after a face plant sitting on one of my brother's handle bars and sticking my foot in front wheel, ha. By the time I got to the house and Constance saw my face, shirt, and bike covered in blood with me screaming, she called my parents first but then did something I've cherished for 45 years and will never forget. She took out her Bible she always carried and read scripture from, put one hand on me and held her Bible in the other praying over me until mom got home to take me to the ER. But it only took a few seconds for my crying and screaming to stop as my angel calmed me. Thank you, mom, for giving me my second mom. Constance, I love and miss you and can't wait to see you again!
I've always loved Brooks and Dunn. Ronnie Dunn has the best voice. This song is my all-time favorite of theirs. You should listen to Jamey Johnson's "in color"
Beautiful song that truly makes you cry, Ronnie Dunn wrote this song about the old man he knew who he called Mr. Wrigley. Brooks and Dunn are outstanding singers, this was the most beautiful video about what he experienced personally.
Ive known this song my entire life - still makes me tear up. I introduced this to an elderly WW2 Vet at our local VFW - because it makes me think of him anytime I hear this... he loved it and we have a tremendous relationship!
song reminds me a bit of my paternal grandfather, a sharecropper from south Georgia, adopted during the depression from a family that had too many kids by one that didn't have enough(we still aren't positive of our family tree on his side past him) he took his bride early and moved her to Jacksonville Fla, found a place to sharecrop and built a shack out of scrap wood, he was the only white sharecropper on this farm, im born in 1965 and remember (barely) going out there to his house (which was bigger by then but still a clapboard affair with an outhouse and a hand pumped well with water that tasted of Sulphur as most of the wells there did then. he used to give me cigar boxes for me to keep my crayons in. i remember his enjoyment of watching us( me and the other kids from the farm) play "chunk the wicket" (kind of a cross between guard the fort and hide and seek) and other games, i was the only white kid, nobody gave a crap one way or another, apparently when you have next to nothing , the thing that kept you from having nothing was having neighbors. i turn 56 tomorrow, these memories are over 50 years old now and not as fresh as i wish they still were, i see the people as blurs, i remember the actions but not the faces, the thing that is Crystal Clear however is that i learned the greatest lesson i could have ever been taught; we are all Gods Children and equal in His Eyes. up to this day, when im working i sweat, side by side with people who sweat side by side with me, and none of us care the slightest that our sweat might mix.
They where one of the greatest country bands of the 90s!!! Great reaction! This song hits me right in the feels every time. Rest in Paradise Ronnie! I hope when you got to heaven the old man Wrigley was there to greet you into the Pearly Gates🙏💜🙏💜🙏💜🙏💜
Ronnie Dunn is the guy singing the song. The other guy with the cowboy hat is kix Brooks! Really enjoyed this reaction In 1990 the two singers formed the group that would be called Brooks and dunn!
I'm from Canadaand white my soninlaw is black they have been married 20yrs.,I couldn't love this young man more if I gave him the breath of life myself. YOUNG lady you hit the nail on the head when you commented that kids are taught prejudice,.As an older white person with different ethnic groups making up my family a word of advice it always starts with someone saying to you oh I dont see color beware ,what are you color blind We all see that we are different but all Gods children, why he made us different I dont care because the song says I believe and there's more than we can see and it's not all there is .love you guys best regards and you and your family stay safe.
The two gentlemen performing this performance are Kiks Brooks and Ronnie Dunn. Kiks Brooks is the man on the guitar and Ronnie Dunn singing and this is from Ronnie's childhood.
End of the song when the kid goes back always gets me because that was me when my grandpa died, hurts because you know what that kid is going through because you’ve lived it.
I Thank My God I have Black Friends that are not Just but Family! African Buddies,And Loved my Time in the US of A lovely Folk! Yet I sadly felt that devision! Dear God forgive Us of all that YUK! Bring us all Together before the END! Even my Dear Aboriginal Folk in My Birthland Australia!
the most wonderful thing about children is they adore and like people that make them feel safe. Not color nor race or religion, but who makes them feel safe. And then the world tells them otherwise to corrupt their innocence. :( This is one of the best songs and videos out there in Country and any other genre of music. And brooks and dunn are amazing. So happy you did this one.
This song is so powerful and beautiful.. I am moved every time I hear it.. it is even more special watching you two listen to it and your reactions. I love you both so much. Thank you ❤️
I had an older black man in my life as a young white kid. He was a farm hand for my friend's family. I would visit with him, his wife and daughter regularly and take them fresh fish that I caught at the river. I learned a lot about people in general from them and I'll always hold a special place in my heart for them. Don't allow ignorance to cloud or close your mind to what matters most in life. This song reminds me of him so much.
Boy am I glad you guys looked it up because yeah, you would look silly. You should do that more often with more videos I think it’s very insightful and helpful for you and the listeners.
Garth Brooks is a whole different machine! Brooks and Dunn are amazing together. They were paired by a record company while trying to make solo careers.
Truly a wonderful and classic song. I had an old man who was like that for me when I was a kid. he use to play his guitar and sing to me while were sitting on the porch swing. He was my second grandpa. He died shortly after his daughters wedding when I was like 12 or 13 years old and his daughter was my baby sitter too. I cried for a long time when he died but always remembered he was in a much better place. This song makes me tear up every time I hear it.

Ronnie Dunn has said that he rarely will sing this live because he can't keep his voice from breaking.
Not quite true, This song since it's release is sung at every Brooks & Dunn concert, And still is sung at concerts today.
This was one of their biggest hits,
And gets a great reaction from the audience every time. Trust me I know, Been to see these guys 95 times since 1998,
I have performed this song before and it's not one you can half sing. You have to give it your all to do it justice.
I’ve had the pleasure of hearing them sing this at one of their concerts and it was an incredible experience.
This song is soooo good and based on a true story, Ronnie’s vocals in this song are amazing
And yes, Ronnie Dunn is the singer and Kix Brooks is on the guitar….love is color blind

This brings tears every time .... Brooks and Dunn are very special artists !!!!
Excellent insight.
That's beautiful chuck...I never thought of it that way... thank you...I feel better now...
True story of his friendship the singer
I was lucky to grow up with multiple older people in my childhood. Yes, one of them was a great older black gentleman named Willie Brown. He, his wife Elizabeth, and their daughter Mary were awesome people that treated me with kindness and I will never forget them.
My grandma cried hard hearing this song after her husband and my grandfather died. I saw the video when it first came out and if you notice in the video the old man lost his life partner and the boy didn't have a father at all. So love brought them together through believing that they'd see their loved ones after it's all over, and their suffering was worth that love.
This song gives me the chills everytime I hear it! Ronnie Dunn's voice is amazing
Brings tears to my eyes no matter how many times I listen to this song. ✌️❤️
I've heard it so many times and I sob every. single. time. So moving. Brooks & Dunn are one of my favorites in country. Grew up with their music.
Ronnie brooks vocalist and kicks dunn . They made many albums
Love has no age or color, the little boy truly loved the old man! We should all be loving each other.
Thanks for this reaction, I met you listing to Tom but this was special.
Ronnie Dunn is singing and brooks does plays and backup singer
Kix Brooks on guitar, he plays many instruments. Ronnie Dunn singing about faith. ‘Words written in red” from the Bible….
I have heard this song so many times and watched so many reactions to it, and I cry at this song every single time.
The song was recorded in church... Black American Sothern church.
What I take from this to a certain degree, is that between this innocent child, and this elderly experienced man both have pure hearts. Neither color nor age played a part in their lives and sin hadn't been able to take hold. Love won out.
That’s straight up gospel, you could definitely hear that in church.
It is not a sad song. It is a powerful song. "I'll see my wife and son in just a little while". His passing reunited him with his wife and son. It also made the young man realize how much his time spent with and wisdom shared by the older gentleman was priceless.
OMG I loved that you raised your hand. POWERFUL!
Well said Asia, hatred is taught, a young mind is the purest
@@mattbecham597 you build on yourself from a negative experience, unless you give up
Obviously his parents didn't teach hate but actually sent the child with gifts. Who's going to say no to a child. Had the parents went they might have been rejected.
@@mattbecham597 delusional
And still people try and debate this, this is crazy, I've never in my life as to see people act like this.
Kix Brooks is playing the guitar and Ronnie Dunn is singing.
Unfortunately today their is so much hate and racism in our country, so sad.
yeah i am one of those that can hear this over and over, and tear up every time.... enjoyed it very much! Love yall keep up the good work.
Does my heart good when I hear both of you talking about parents and grandparents wisdom and memories
This is the type of music we should be hearing more of these days...bj
This song always tears me up. It’s just beautiful. ❤️
They are a Country Duo. Ronnie Dunn and Kicks Brooks make up the leads of the band. They have many awards and many platinum albums. Legends.
Brooks and Dunn is up there. Ain't No Way to Go, My Maria, and She Used to be mine are 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Makes me cry everytime. Love you both! ❤
Love this song. Sad but beautiful
I mentioned this to you and so glad you got to it. It's a true story for the lead singer. TY
I cry every time it's a beautiful message about friendship
This song gets me in the feels everytime. Same with 21 years-tobymac that song wrecks me no matter how many times I listen to it & watch the video.
I listen to this song at least once a week. And I tear up every time. It makes me feel rich in my soul.
I’ve heard this over and over and I still get emotional.
There one of the best country bands of all time brooks an dunn two people been together for yearssssss
the story of the Garden of Eden is reflected in every person’s life.
Wow!!! I have never heard this expressed so well! I feel the same.
Kix Brooks & Ronnie Dunn have been a duo for many years.
thank you for choosing this song. It's so powerful
Another great reaction...Asia...I thought you were going to cry...I cried the first time I heard this song...
this makes me cry every time !!! Excellent job you guys !! I love this song and Brooks and Dunn !!
I've watched this video a million times, and a million times, I cry....so beautiful, such a story
You guys are so cute together, thanks loved your reaction!!!!!
I love watching people react to this song. It's one of my favorites. If I watch the video more than once I will tear up.
I can't quote the book. The chapter or the verse. You cant tell me it all ends in a slow ride in a hearse.
Really enjoyed this reaction
In 1990 the two singers formed the group that would be called Brooks and dunn!
The singer and the guitar player are Brooks and Dunn. . This is such a wonderful song.
They have been a duo for decades and won many Country awards. Kix Brooks has solos as well - You’re going to miss me when I’m gone.
This is why Country Music is so beloved. It makes you feel in your heart so hard. Lots of gospel in country music too..
My most favorite song ever! It will be played at my funeral! GOD reigns over ALL GOOD!
The two gentlemen performing this performance are Kiks Brooks and Ronnie Dunn. Kiks Brooks is the man on the guitar and Ronnie Dunn singing and this is from Ronnie's childhood.
Ronnie Dunn is singing and Kicks Brooks is playing the guitar. They are one of the BEST duos in country music!
End of the song when the kid goes back always gets me because that was me when my grandpa died, hurts because you know what that kid is going through because you’ve lived it.
The guy who is singing Ronnie Dunn this is a true story from his childhood
I use to sit with my Grandad for hours.. Best memories of my life. He taught me so much. He was born in 1890 and passed away in 1971 at the age of 81.

This song has a very powerful message very legendary message of both loving and loss in these lyrics it's one of my favorites from Brooks and Dunn
the most wonderful thing about children is they adore and like people that make them feel safe. Not color nor race or religion, but who makes them feel safe. And then the world tells them otherwise to corrupt their innocence. :( This is one of the best songs and videos out there in Country and any other genre of music. And brooks and dunn are amazing. So happy you did this one.
He wrote this song. Made for what you hear. He loved that man. They were great friends. He sang this just once, just for his friend.
U two r amazing beautiful ppl u two give me hope amen God bless you two
This song is so powerful and beautiful..
There definitely needs to be more of this kind of music 🎶 amazing song
Everything about this song is beautiful .
Kix Brooks is the guitar player (also from my home town of Shreveport, La) and the singer is Ronnie Dunn.
