इस प्रकार के कैलीपर में Vernier Mechanism के जगह पर एक डायल रहता है। उस डायल का उपयोग एक मिलीमीटर या इंच के अंतिम अंश को पढ़ने के लिए किया जाता है। डायल हर इंच या मिलीमीटर के अनुसार एक बार घूमता है।
वर्नियर कैलिपर का आविष्कार किसने किया?
वर्नियर कैलीपर का आविष्कार 1631 में Pierre Vernier (पियरे वर्नियर) ने किया था। पियरे वर्नियर एक अच्छे फ़्रेंच गणितज्ञ तथा उपकरण निर्माता थे, उनके ही नाम पर इस कैलीपर्स का नाम वर्नियर कैलीपर पड़ा।
Vernier Caliper भी एक सुक्ष्ममापी यंत्र है. जिसका आविष्कार फ्रांस के एक विज्ञानिक पैरी वर्नियर ने सन 1630 ई. में किया था. इस सुक्ष्ममापी यंत्रकी सहायता से किसी भी job की बाहरी आंतरिक और गहराई आदि मापों को ब्रिटिश और मीट्रिक प्रणाली में 0.001 इंच और 0.02 mm तक की शुद्धता और सूक्ष्मता के साथ मापा जा सकता है.
