I just turned 59 and was assisting my dad in DIY projects from about 8 years old. He was a great teacher. This means I have been involved in DIY for more than 50 years. I bought my own vernier, probably about 35 years ago. But until this moment I never knew this. I always wanted a digital caliper because I need better than 1mm measurements. I never knew my caliper could do this. Thank you so so much!
I know that this does make logic but the truth is that why teachers take so long to explain to us 'cause they feel that yet we didn't understand so they try to give us more examples and also they explain it again and again. It's not applicable to all however...
my physics teacher explained this for 2 hours and I didn't understand anything but you just taught me this in just seven minutes. thank you very much!❤🖤
I remember I once passed this in mechatronics, in a two hour class, and half of my classmates couldn't do it, myself included. ¡You taught me in only seven minutes!
Thanks for clarifying that. My dad spent a long time trying to teach me how to read them before he passed away and I never got it. Your explanation is easy. 🇦🇺👍
It's my first day as an internee in a factory and I asked a guy to show me how to read the vernier and he laughed saying how couldn't a mechanical engineer read a vernier, it's break time now and this saved my day. Thanks a lot.
This video is a tremendously useful refresher. Every time I need to dust off my caliper I always end up here. I hope you have this backed up or redistributed places, as it's seriously top tier.
wow as a welder who had trouble learning to use measuring tools in class, your videos are teaching me everything i never thought i could comprehend!!! thank you so much for this videos!! i can now read a tape measure in inches and metrics!☺
@@rafianoshin3174 From the vernier scale, we have to pick the number that lines up best with a main scale number. Here, the point right after 7 lines up best. Since each point is 0.02 mm, the reading on the vernier scale will be 0.72 mm. We already got 5 mm from the main scale so the reading will be 5.72 mm.
Stumbled across this while searching for something totally unrelated, amazing explanation and the animations are the best I could ask for, no clutter, straight to the point both timewise and visually
Finally!!!!! Thank you so much! I had my Physics teacher explain it over and over again in class and had friends try to help me figure out how to use a Vernier caliper but I was still so confused! This 7 min video made everything clear for me so simply❤️
Dude I appreciate this soo much! I felt so stupid in class for not knowing how the hell to read the thing. I have a test tomorrow that involves measuring with this and I was so nervous until I found this video. You explained and taught it in a clear understandable way! You’re the best!
Thank you! I keep coming back to your video whenever in doubt about my analog Vernier caliper. You're my Bob Ross of Vernier calipers, seriously. As much as I learn, I also enjoy watching a true teacher at work.
That's one of the greatest compliments of all time! Thanks! And treat yourself to a nice dial caliper (or one of those soul-less digital ones) when you can!
what a great efforts for introducing and transferring a heavy and complex technical concepts by a real simplified technique. All respect Bob and Sparky and all team behind. keep going guys.
being so used to dial calipers for work i never worked with a vernier but was gifted one from an old machinist that retired. i havent used one since college. thanks for the refresher.

This is an absolutely well done, informative video! Easy to follow, no egos, just a great and to the point explanation to include practice of what was just taught! Thank you!!!!!
Thanks a lot sir. Online classes due to covid has killed my seriousness for studies, but i think this one bought it back for me. Gotta write practical exam tomorrow. Thank you sir. Love from India.

@@WeldNotes ❤ your work. Why did you stop making videos.
I'm a few months away from 50 and this video taught me to use a vernier caliper for the first time! Good stuff!

Well said. Haha.
Agreed

well, he probaby tried to teach it like my dad did... immediately asking if i understood right, like right after he inhales oxygen!
I've just been looking through many vernier caliper instruction videos, and this one is the simplest and clearest of them all.
THANK YOU! THIS ONLINE CLASS IS TRYING TO TEACH ME HOW TO USE A VERNIER CALIPER WITH A MODULE THAT ONLY HAS WORDS AND ONE PICTURE.

Ikr i still don't know how teachers in class manage to take 40min and can't make us understand sometimes 🥲
