    You've done a great job on this car. I loved every minute of the video. Ref: Halfords Windscreen Wipers: The first time I needed to change them on my first car I went to Halfords and got in the queue to ask for some assistance in fitting them. As I got closer to the desk I heard a collective groan of disappointment from my entire male genetic line. "Don't do it my son, read the manual". Needless-to-say, but I did just that and 5mins later had them fitted. I've never felt so manly. I got nods of approval from all the men in the car park too! Keep up the great work on the channel!

    • @misterthegeoff9767
      @misterthegeoff9767 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I worked at halfords when I was a spotty teenager, back before they offered a paid fitting service but we used to fit bulbs, wipers and anything up to a stereo if the customer asked. I never had an ounce of training so all these grown adults were getting an untrained kid who was too young to have a driving licence to work on their car. I lost count of how many times I did a job on a customer's car just by reading the instructions on the packaging and borrowing tools off the display. If you ever bought a 10mm or 13mm spanner from Halfrauds while I was working there it was guaranteed to have been used to fit at least one car battery before going out the door.

    What a great series of videos, love the car! As for the tyres, I booked a tyre fitting through Black circles online and gave the reg of my car (even though the car was in a thousand pieces at the time) and then turned up with loose wheels. Like you, I thought it would make their job easier (my wheels didn't even have tyres on them) but they took some convincing to do the job. They explained to me that a lot of scammers turn up to get new tyres fitted and then go back with some worn tyres fitted, complain and demand refunds. To cover themselves, once the new tyres are fitted, they now take photos of the new tyres on the car and a photo of the number plate. I my case, they took a photo of me stood beside the freshly fitted tyres. Hopefully this explains the reason :)

    Really appreciate what you do getting these classic cars back on the road again.👍
    That engine takes me back to the mid 90s when i bought my first car a 1987 Ford Sierra mark 1 in red though i had the 1.8 pinto, decent enough car and went well but the engine was really troublesome so i don't share the same enthusiasm as you regarding these lol mine had an issue where it would every so often i would shut it down and the engine would run on for abit afterrun and be an absolute shit to start again lol, also it would often die coming up to junctions i never did find the problem but then again i was only 17 and knew sod all about cars in those days but i did learn a lot with this car, lol that crane attached underneath haha man that takes me back to when me and my dad replaced those bushes on the stabiliser bar on my sierra as it looks the same wow what a pig of a job to do, my dad had that exact crane and we had to do something similar to get that torsion bar back in lol, mine also had tons of rust, my dad spent a good day welding that heep up, those days i dont miss, but i do love the Capri its a great i nearly bought one 10 years ago a 2l supped up model and immaculate but my 1991 Toyota mr2 turbo won me over, funnily enough we have a white 1.6 laser knocking our way its full of rust which is a shame the guy wants to do it up but money being the issue the inside is spot on though.

    I went to National Tyres for a puncture, was told I had to book an appointment 🤷 drove to small garage round corner, fixed in 30 mins. Never been back to NT since.

    I had a black 1.6 laser fitted with a 2.9i 12v v6 from a Sierra absolutely loved it, and i also had a crystal green mk3 Ls fitted with a 2litre pinto made to look like a 'S'. Had almost every part off the capris fixed and painted the majority of the bits myself very easy cars to work around. I blame my dad for the love of them as he had 6 over nearly 30+ years of my life 😂

    Great episode. That's the end of National Tyre for Easy Classics then. Glad you got someone to work with you. Collecting the wheels is even better than taking to their place, even if next door to home. Nicely done with the arch.

    Chester National Tyres are an absolute joke. I used to use them for various things but when I lived in Hoole, I used Hoole Tyres on Lightfoot Street. They are great guys and very helpful and cheap too.

      Always best to use independent businesses, as far as possible, for absolutely everything. Owner/manager businesses can go the extra mile & generally don’t do this crappy “Company policy, mate” nonsense.

    Hi Ben,
    I just watched the Capri Part 2 Video. Wow, such a lot of work. Lovely job on the wheel arch that's for sure. It is definitely coming good. In Australia I am a Holden guy. We used to be, either Holden or Ford. For you it would be Vauxhall or Ford. I don't have to like a car to admire the work ethics. Looking forward to your continued work on the P6 and back to the Capri. Thanks for sharing your abilities with us all Ben.
