@@slug8768 I mean if it’s possible to get an ice type/up crit ratio move, and a evasion/accuracy move on your starter it’s possible if you mean the first battlez. If it’s the second battle, it’s still possible because of your team

The biggest anti-piracy measure here is medium speed text

The glitch noise before the message is the sound my FireRed cartridge makes whenever I play for 20 minutes or more, so it's like my mom.

The “Software Terminated” text was actually very well done. That’s exactly how sprite and ui overflow work on an actual system.

The glitch noise reminds me of the sound in Lets Go Pikachu & Eevee when you want to trade or fight someone.
If you mean the tune at the end, I believe the "Pokeball plus" ost is actually a remix of the "printer error" track I used here

I love how it's "Software terminated game may be modified" that makes me think of spyro year of the dragon
The “SOFTWARE TERMINATED CONSOLE MAY BE MODIFIED” message is what plays when an original PlayStation detects a mod chip or burned ROM being inserted. It does this to counter piracy.
The worst part of this is that Sentret was shiny. And you can't get it.

It's also level 11, a level not normally encountered in that area.
The glitch noise was excellent. 10/10, one of the best fanmade anti-piracy measures i have ever seen
Fun fact: He can't escape from Sentret because it's shiny.
Btw, the weird sound you hear after you die is the sound that Ruby and Sapphire do when the game crashes due to the bad egg (an anti-cheating measure in the third gen games)
I heard that noise when my cartridge lost connection to the console while playing FireRed or Yoshi's Island. A majority of the times I did hear it was when I accidentally thumped the system, whoopsie!
So yeah, you can even hear it without messing with the code (ACE, cheating, or otherwise).
It's a fake obviously considering that the text isn't in the ROM, but from a REAL shiny encounter you can run instead, not in the forced with cheat code instead.
@@CruisnEma of course it's fake, a GBC cannot play a sound that the GBA can make. Also the text in the rom exists and appears in specific occasions
@@gianluco Absolutely not. There isn't that text in the rom. The research is instantly and that words in the rom aren't present.
My mom once unknowingly got me a bootlegged Crystal copy, I kinda wish this actually happened so I could've known sooner.
How did you eventually find out?
@@thelordlogan Well, it couldn't save for one. Upon closer inspection the label was off center and the cartridge shape was incorrect. It was a goddamn reproduction cart my Mom bought solely because it was cheaper. I still managed to track down a legit copy, don't worry.

True, was one of my first thoughts, but ultimately felt like it would have needed a bigger textbox and I haven't figured out how to implement those properly in the assembly decomp yet :(
@@thelordlogan they occur when hex 00 is encountered in a textbox; the number provided is the textbox ID.
The sentret wasn't shiny because of the anti piracy. It was just a sad coincidence

It reminds me of my game Pokémon Ultra Sun when I trade someone with Pokémon and I got Dialga and when I told Dialga use moves and it said "Dialga won't obey!", must've used a GTS
Nice work! Interestingly, reminds me a little of the anti-piracy measure in La Abadia del Crimen, where the game stops, calls you a pirate, then terminates itself.

I felt like it could have been scarier, like maybe a high pitched glitch sound but overall very convincing
I know this is fan made but this unlocked a new fear in me (first encounter ever in a Pokémon Game being a shiny when I still have no Pokéballs with me)
Unlike most of the anti-piracy screens popping up, this one is surprisingly convincing.
Cyndaquil must have a higher moral standard if it doesn't obey pirates, but obeys Silver just fine.

What would be cool, is if you ran the errand and afterwards the professor that is you and takes back the Pokémon. Making it to where you couldn’t continue as a trainer.
I would like to see what the Piracy message would be for fighting Silver and either winning or losing against him

Wouldn’t it count as some form of piracy if it’s not profiting the original manufactures of the cartridge, or a owner of said cartridge? I wouldn’t call it piracy if they haven’t been sold for years like the gba games but there’s the virtual console versions of gen1 and 2 which do require money to get if you want it on a legitimate console and not a pc
@@RickyRiceB Of course playing a ROM without having bought a copy of the game is piracy. But a ROM in a vacuum is not piracy, i could quite easily dump a cartridge i own for example.

A level 11 shiny Sentret??? Wow, just wow. What fool would want a pirated Pokémon game? I am its cheap I remember way back when I was standing inline with my mom at Fred Meyer's in Puyallup for at least 2 hours and with tax it was like $43 and it lasted me 7 years before the internal battery died and I lost everything
Please forgive my dumb brain, but can someone explain how this works? Like, is this assuming that the game has already been pirated and the anti-piracy code detected it? Also, why would Nintendo scrap this anti-piracy code?

I guess the creator went with a "well if certain games have anti piracy features what would it look like if every game had them" for example in the legend of zelda spirit tracks if your game was pirated you were unable to progress due to missing mechanics

It’s actually the other way around. Since Females always have an attack IV of 1 but that’s not an IV you need for a shiny,it’s the females that will never be shiny.
