This reminds me of an anti-cheat measure in a Pokemon Rom Hack called Pokemon Clover. If the game detects that you have more rare candies than what you're supposed to be able to get, or have Pokemon that you aren't supposed to have before the post-game, then it throws the character in jail directly after beating the champion, with the only option being to literally hang yourself in your cell, causing your file to be erased.
i faked it. i reverse engineered the pokemon red and blue source code and made a super incompotent antipiracy routine as a joke. i did it in assembly, my favorite language, as a gag. i also made the script slightly different to the original also as a joke. you all fell for it.
Lmaoooooo the erased save file you should've also tried hacking the super gameboy border routine and changed it to a "no piracy" themed one or something, I legit thought thats what was gonna happen at the end
@@zzdaxuya Would have that been possible? I know that when the game resets a lot of ram flags are cleared that prevents retaining any info into the title; Thats why the Mew Virus MrCheeze made clears after you beat the E4.
You still technically beat the game, since you defeated Gary. This is a common oversight of placing anti piracy measures near or at the end of the game.

Anytime you reset the game it redraws the border... It always confused me too
