The Academy decided on a different designer this year who made the outside of the envelope smaller gold lettering on a red envelope. The winning card inside had the category name in small cursive script at the bottom. Also, the winning name of the actress was the same size as the name of the film. So Dunaway just looked at the name of the film and ignored the actress' name because it was not in larger type. Furthermore, all of the type on the card and the envelope was in all caps instead of upper and lower case. All of these typography choices made it difficult for older people with aging eyesight to read and detect errors.
Brian was to enamored with celebrity of others and himself, he thought he was bigger then everyone else and liked to show it off in his social media and wasn't humble about the position he was given and was extremely careless. For a 1 in a million life time opportunity he royally fucked up
