Fast Or Slow - Which Is The Best Way To Fish?

- In bass fishing, there are two schools of thought: power fishing and finesse fishing. Some anglers like only to burn a crankbait to get those big reaction strikes, while others prefer to go super-slow with a wacky rig or a jig to entice stubborn bass into biting. These types of fishing rarely, if ever, cross ever. Or do they? In this video we'll discuss how they can (and should) work together in order to get as many bites when your out bass fishing! #fishing #bassfishing #fishingtips

Do you like to fish fast or slow?
Both, fast gets attention then throw slow behind it and get the bite! Love your vids, you should come to Ft bragg reserve lakes and show me how it's done!
I fish mostly slower with waky rigs and Texas rigs. I do fish crankbaits and top water lures so I do a little of both 😅
Always fast . Maybe because I live in a big city , life is fast and free time is scarce so its all go. Crankbaits for the win .
@@jonathang5139 S/O 919!
I go in spurts. Spinner and friggin rooster tail has been killing it for me this spring. Last year I used exclusively Texas rig worms and Ned craws. Haven’t given the time for top water. But just having fun man. And for my boys. Just have some fun whatever works
Agreed! Having fun is the most important part!
One of the best pro flipping fisherman, Jason Christie, is a hybrid. He flips very fast and moves down the bank like he’s throwing a crankbait.
That said, I have transitioned from power fishing into finesse fishing. Starting out, I exclusively used and bought crankbaits. Then one day, I was outfished by my friend who caught an 8 lbs largemouth by a jig. I tried so hard to catch that bass with my crankbait for an hour but to no avail, I failed and told my friend that there’s a “5 pounder..” On his first cast, that bass turned her attention my friend’s jig and she’s was on! Since that day, I slowly transitioned over to finesse and have morphed into a hybrid finesse fisherman. I still don’t like going slow but I am exclusively using soft baits now. So that’s my story. 😅
It always pays to have more than one way to fish, in my experience.
I like 3 retrieve speeds ,slow ,steady, and fast burn stops,or a pull technique 👌. I slow down and drag a texas rig, and jigs if the bass needs to feed down,or for target fishing specific cover.Go Lowbrow 💥🎣💪🤙.
Being able to change and adapt is key!
The older I get the slower I always seem to go. I just don't get in a hurry like I used to,
I feel the same way!
it's kinda my personal pattern to start out fast earlier in the day then move to more finesse style fishing as the sun gets higher.
I do the same thing quite often!
Im the weird guy who fished spinning rods my whole life, so when i finally jumped to baitcasters i bought a left hand reel. I carry them both bank fishing for different occasions. Zman goat toad stays on my baitcaster, ill throw it first in a fan pattern left to right. Then if no indicators, ill throw my spinning finesse right behind it. Its a proven system for me on the bank
That seems like a really good way to fish! It's good to have a system to go by!
"Lefty" baitcasters feel normal.
I'm right handed. 👍🏽
I'm more of a shallow water power fisherman. Burning cranks and getting big bites is what I really love doing.
Go with what you have confidence in!
I do the same thing . Im not looking for feeding fish . Im steam rolling the shallows , either bite it or get out the way .
Thanks for sharing this! Some good stuff as always! Very interesting! Hope you have a great weekend buddy!
Thanks so much! Have a great Memorial Day weekend!
I have always been a Finesse angler. But this past year, and currently, I am adding new arsenal to my tackle bag. Why ? Just like you said Lowbrow, I realized I was being crazy for not being a well rounded angler. Now I am doing and and actually having a blast. I'm not a hard bait guy , but I will do what I need to do to get the fish. I recently learned how to fish a fluke. I absolutely love it and I'm enjoying the Boy Howdy. My goal is to be ready for any situation.
Awesome! That's a great way to do it!
Neither is better but power is more fun 😊
A lot of guys like burning a crank!
Power doesn’t always catch big bass, and finesse doesn't always catch small bass. I like slower techniques most of the time. I think most people like something power like a spinnerbait but would never try something like a split shot rig. They live and die by power fishing only and miss out on catching more bass with a new technique.
It always pays to be able the adapt and change things up when necessary!
Really enjoy your videos, keep'em coming. Hope I get to fish with you one day. I'd love to get you up here on my favorite electric only no outboard lake and let you dissect it.
If I ever get time enough to break away, I'd love to go on an extended fishing trip across the country!
Thanks for putting out some great videos. I use both by the conditions i see, windy and moving water i power fish, still water i finesse it.
That sounds like a great way to do it!
Power fishing. I'll fish a jerk bait like crankbait and I've only caught 1 bass on a senko in my life so that says it all. I do try to fish slower
It's hard to have confidence in lures we don't use as often.
I never thought about if I was power fishing or not but a buddy of mine won't touch anything like a worm
Some guys just want to fish fast. Nothing wrong with that!
Nothing better from the bank than a TRD ned. It's what I use more often than not
That's a great way to catch fish!
TRD neds are 🔥
I went yesterday. Slow bite was an understatement. Only got 1 - on a spy bait. So I’m going finesse. 😊
Slowing down can be just what you need!
It's really a question of how i want to catch them vs. How they want to be caught.
Thanks for watching!
I fish faster than I used to. I vary the retrieve with a lipless and burn it fast. I also like to fish a ned rig if I see a spot I want to really work.
That's a great way to do it!
I usually go slow from the bank but I like to use a small crankbait from time to time
Mixing it up can really be a great way to get those extra bites!
Great content! You've got a new subscriber 👍🏽
Awesome! Thank you!
I fish slow and fast All depend on where I am at.
Good way to do it!
What's a good bait to use in dirty water after it rains
I generally go for a spinnerbait with a painted bladed.
I had similar conditions yesterday. On a river and it was just super dirty. Found them power fishing and then slowed down with a shaky. Just love chasing those river smallies!
Agreed! There's just something about those river smallies that are so much fun! They fight so hard!
