In 2006, Thales acquired the remaining 50% of ADI and renamed the company to Thales Australia.[16] In October 2016 it was announced that Australia and Indonesia would jointly develop a vehicle based on the Bushmaster for use by the Indonesian military.[17] The vehicle, known as the Sanca, is manufactured by Pindad in collaboration with Thales.[18]

Griffon has more horsepower, more combat proven (France are fighting in Africa and other UN missions, Australian barely), more wheels, more protection. Another question ?
Do you mean VBCI? And if so, then not really. VBCI is an IFV (infantry fighting vehicle), while the griffon is an APC. That means that the VBCI is is made for active fighting, and supporting infantry once on the ground, while the griffon is mainly a transport vehicle, with some anti-infantry capacities, but you don't want to put it directly at the front as it doesn't have that much armour and firepower. Highly impressive vehicle. They should send some of them to Ukraine to 1) help to fight tyranny and warmongery and 2) test their efficiency under realistic conditions.
I agree, though for "testing their efficiency under realistic conditions", considering the french armed forces are currently conducting a dozen military operations around the world, it's not really needed; Though most don't feature high intensity combat, of course. i'll just put that part on the usual ignorance/caricatural nonsense views on the french military.
@@canicheenrage I think the "high intensity warfare test" is implied here... It also has a high visibility impact there, wich is not to minimise. Before the Ukrainian war, the Caesar was an okay success but nothing extraordinary. Then we sent a dozen of them there, + some 8×8 version, an now despite more than doubling its production capacities, Nexter has trouble dealing with the influx of proposed contracts with foreign nations. Sending some of our latest vehicles there, especially since they've been conceived to handle mass scale production, would be an excellent contributor to its commercial success, even if we need to send "dumbed down" versions to avoid compromision risks of our latest information sharing technologies
I see your point , but our goverment will more likely send VAB not griffon , they are super expensive and lets be honest we are not really in a good time in France rn and it's hard to send something like a griffon wich cost a little fortune , the VAB is still a really good APC, the Ukrainians showed it, they have some that they use very well, i'd love to see more of our military stuff send to ukraine (like more Ceasar, scalp and amx) but with what we have as head of state it's pretty hard...
@@downeedles9249 Isnt the Griffon being a wheeled tank cheaper than average tanks and built to easily be mass produced? Of course France (or other western countries) being limited due to economic troubles is underdtandable, I think sending at least some to test them is very important. What if they have a crucial weakness that has not been discovered yet? Or if there is a way to improve on them by adjusting or additing a little extra?
Anything that happens on the battlefield”? I don’t recall it mentioning anti-tank mines, kamikaze drones or any anti-tank missiles like Javelin, Tone and armour piercing 155 mm shell?
It is mine resistant up to the STANAG and OTAN standards. No active protection systems are actually deployed on them to deal with ATGM, but it has been developed with the idea of being able to be retrofitted with such systems. As for « armor piercing 155mm » I think you have to stop with the drugs. 155mm is in the realm of artillery. They don’t use armor piercing, only HE and their derivatives. As mentioned in the video, it is resistant to all but direct hits from those, but a direct hit, especially considering the relative accuracy of the Russian artillery as well as the mobility of the vehicle itself, and considering French troops are mainly deployed in territories with terrorists that aren’t even close to having artillery systems precise enough to target moving vehicles, the Griffon is pretty well equipped. But if you wanted to mention how it could resist tank rounds, then no, it can’t. But nothing can withstand tank rounds, not even tank. If a Griffon ends up facing such vehicle, then someone really messed up. This thing is not made to be anywhere close to firing distance of an enemy tank. As for anti drone duties, most Griffon are equipped with a teleoperated 12.7 roof mounted machine gun that can lock and track targets, so if it manages to detect the drone, or if a radar station somewhere close detects it and transmit the exact location through the SCORPION communication network, then the Griffon can potentially deal with them.

In February 1994, the draft specification for the IMV was released, followed in July by the invitation to register interest, with 17 proposals received including by Australian company Perry Engineering with the Bushmaster, and by Australian Specialised Vehicle Systems with the Taipan, derived from the South African Mamba.[6][7] In September 1995, the request for tender was issued to five shortlisted proposals.[6][7]
In early 1996, Perry Engineering produced a prototype Bushmaster, based on an Irish designed Timoney Technologies MP44, including the Rockwell/Timoney independent suspension, and with US company Stewart & Stevenson components from the Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles (FMTV).[8][9][10] Over 65% of the components by Stewart & Stevenson were from the FMTV including engine, transmission, steering, instrumentation, electrical and pneumatic systems.[7] The prototype was built in less than seven months.[11]
In September 1996, the Australian government-owned company Australian Defence Industries (ADI) purchased the intellectual property rights from Boral's Perry Engineering with agreement from Timoney Technologies and Stewart & Stevenson.[6][12]
A Bushmaster prototype at Perry Engineering in Adelaide in the late 1990s
By January 1997, following the withdrawal of other bids, the Bushmaster and Taipan remained the only contenders for the project.[6][7] That November, ADI launched its re-engineered Bushmaster proposal changing the design and shape of the hull to withstand a greater force and associated internal and external features.[13][14] In March 1998, three Bushmaster IMVs and three Taipan IMVs built in South Africa started a 44-week competitive evaluation trial.[7][15] Neither vehicle fully met all of the requirements of the specification, and performed with varying success over the course of the trials.[6]
In March 1999, ADI was awarded the Bushranger contract to produce the Bushmaster at their Bendigo facility.[7][14] In November 1999, ADI was privatised becoming 50% owned by French company Thales and 50% owned by Australian company Transfield. In 2006, Thales acquired the remaining 50% of ADI and renamed the company to Thales Australia.[16]
In October 2016 it was announced that Australia and Indonesia would jointly develop a vehicle based on the Bushmaster for use by the Indonesian military.[17] The vehicle, known as the Sanca, is manufactured by Pindad in collaboration with Thales.[18]

I have to wonder 💭 why it is that governments can (usually) find money to spend on defence (and offence) capabilities whilst the general public are trying to make ends meet because of government ineptitude and lack of understanding of what the people are going through, the pandemic followed closely by a worldwide recession followed by Putin invading Ukraine, the war in Israel/Palestine/Gaza and the Chinese 🇨🇳 sabre rattling about the South China Sea and Taiwan 🇹🇼 is causing untold uncertainty about the world geopolitical and geoeconomics situation that it is causing so many people to slide into poverty, but the governments are still spending money on defence that could have been better spent on civil needs. WHY?.
for the first question : it's very hard to shoot such a small target from far away.
for the second one : that's called sovereignety. If you are defenceless, then you cannot portect your territory, your interests and your citizens. It's easy to say let's delete all armies and war, but completely utopic unfortunately. Also, the money spent on military developement usually brings a lot of benefits for the economy, employment and technological developement in general. All that for spending that aren't that huge (2% of the GDP for France, and as I said, a lot of it isn't lost money).

I think the "high intensity warfare test" is implied here...

Still need to find a way to reload the top Gun, because that's ridiculous. Get one of these TH-camrs that make their own vehicles because they come up with some great ideas that work.
Green with envy? Nah, the US will just copy french ideas, modify and enhance the vehicle. 😂
for 15 times the cost and not before 10 years, yeah sure, do it.
nothing to fear it has a Renault engine prone to be unreliable

Hey, a specialist and eminent connoisseur of truck engines!! Don't you know that these RENAUlT trucks (same as VOLVO Trucks) engines equip hundreds of thousands of trucks and have proven themselves throughout the world.
Poor stupid guy.
At least Renault engines resist heat and sand, unlike some other well known brands !

Is just me or all these types of vehicles are made for coin war and not a full country to country war?
Just because it's tall for IED and mine protection doesn't mean its bad at high intensity, if you think it's maybe a bit small or look "air transportable" remember he French military is an expeditionary force, with a homegrown survivable nuclear deterrent, so the defense of mainland France isn't much of a concern its design to fight abroad
there is a great analysis of the French military on perun's channel, highly recommended if you like in depth stuff, also one on Japan Germany Turkey Poland and many others on top of other content on military conflict and warfare, the guy is brilliant
Who do the French fight, every battle they get into they retreat or give up. Usually in that order, they don't want to offend anyone. Especially their enemies. Now thats funny 🎉🎉🎉
Most likely they've already fought your country. And most likely your country has lost. Most likely your country has already lost against the French, and not once, nor twice, but certainly more times. 😅
You're just butthurt.
Umm french have won more wars than anybody else on earth actually
Start learning history before opening your hatch for bullshit
Uh, no. As a combat vet I have NO envy of this thing whatsoever.
