…..I’ll be 81 in a few months and I’ve cut my own hair all my life , except for a few years when my best friend was a hairdresser …we’re still great friends , but she moved away and I can’t travel for a cut …my husband is disabled and i struggle to get anything outside the home ..I also utilize a pixie cut …It’s so easy fast and easy to keep .
I've cut my own hair short for about 30 years now but never quite that short. You did a fantastic job. My personal opinion with my own hair is that if I'm not going to end up with a cut that I like, I might as well do it myself for free. lol

My hair is down to my bottom and has been for almost 40 years and you may inspire me to cut mine short! Absolutely magnificent. You are so beautiful!
I have been cutting my hair for the past 17 yrs that I have been retired. I use a texturing scissors that I got at the dollar store and it still works. I did go to a hair dresser a few times but was very disappointed with the look so I am happy to do it myself although I am almost 80. I now have a mirror behind me in the BR so I can see the back of my head which does help to not to have to hold a mirror. Also if you open the medicine cabinet a little, it gives you a great view of the back while you are cutting. I think you did a great job and also having a nice face helps!!
Good for you. I'm 71 and cut my own. (Out of necessity, however.) You know what I remind myself each time? It's only hair. It'll grow back! Right? .....Be well. 🌹😊✌️
You truly look best with short hair. Not everyone can look that beautiful with a pixie cut, and it looks like your natural hair color is so pretty…changing your hair can be fun, but it’s okay to just embrace the natural beauty you were blessed with.❤️
Right!? I was thinking the same thing! AND she didn't have to pay them afterwards. Some pros have negatively chimed in here, and all I could think of, was some of the salon haircuts that look like a 5 year-old musta done it 😄. Also was just laughing about horrific color jobs I've seen where people were oohing and aahing over it (prolly cause they're glad it didn't happen to them) I'm sure you do a good job for your clients, cause you recognize this untrained young lady's talent, and incredible end result.
@@Daniela-Christianson One of the worst things an older woman can do is have her hair dyed black or that henna red. Does not go with the skin and over all aging face. My neighbor had bald spot on top and the black hair just showed it up! We all see, it is NOT good. Maybe to the person doing it. lol.
@@littleme3597 You're so right! The good Lord designed our grey hair to make skin and features look softer, and less severe as we lose skin pigment. I will say I've seen more men do the dark solid icky looking color than women.

Well I am a former hairdresser and that’s exactly how I cut my hair. It came out good because you did it by feel. It works when you section it like that. To keep mine short I cut it once a week. I haven’t used. Clippers on mine so you taught me something!!!! I might try it next time. It is hard to see what your doing a chuckled as it watched you cut. As it was like watching me lol!! You look great!!!!!
Hah! I am a former hairdresser and I couldn’t believe that you were going to end up with anything that would look decent to wear out in public! But since you weren’t cutting a very structured haircut, it looks quite lovely on you! Your hair was very, very damaged and you can’t do anything with hair that is that damaged except cut it off. You look really pretty with a short cut and I can only imagine how much better it feels! Keep the bleach out of it and let the bleached ends finish growing off and your hair and you will be much happier.😊 Good job!
Looks good. I could never video my self cutting (me faire coiffure?) my white blond grey Bob/pixie, but I may revisit the comb and horseshoe section (I once spent one and a half hours failing to section without a snip). I do do a triangle for long fringe for side sweep Woah my clippers so far for man cuts..I think you are a dab hand .
Love the new look! Perfect length all around, especially leaving just enough on the top so you can wear it to the side, combed back, or heightened up to fancy up. You look stylish and lovely. Great job!
That was awesome. My hairdresser moved over an hour away so I am going to bite the bullet and buy clippers. My pixie has grown out too much to tolerate anymore. Wish me luck.
Anyone can do this cut, you don't need a stylist. And I'm a hairstylist. Everyone has this cut it's ubiquitous. I've never seen such ugly hair in all my years especially the troll-like colors. 🧟🙈👎🤮🤦
Hi Jade, if your squimish about cutting your hai you could always do it in stages & work up t it. I did that in the 1985 , & every 6- 8 weeks I'd cut a few inches shorter & in 2010, I watched this Male stylist & he was very talented so I went to him now 've

It just shows that we can be brave and take that leap to do our own hair cut at home. Fab. I have now subscribed and look forward to looking back at all the different colours and shades you have used, as well as the styles. I am always colouring my very long hair, but never chopped it short. I keep hearing and reading, that shorter styles suit the older woman, but I love how I can style my hair up or down, so have never taken that leap to go and have it short. I know it sounds scary, but I find it much easier to cut my own hair neatly without a mirror. Going by feel gives a neater finish than having to try to reverse what you’re seeing in the mirror.
I was literally. Cheering on! I recently cut my almost shoulder length hair super short after my hairdresser over processed my hair then did a keratin treatment. It felt like straw! It’s still not right by any means, but I get a lot of compliments on it, which is the weirdest thing to experience!!! I’m actually going to have my old hairdresser whom I haven’t seen in a long time undercut it a little bit so I can get more movement and texturize where it’s bulky! You are the bravest person ever and I think you’re adorable beyond beyond beyond such a fantastic funny personality. I wish you lived near me. Love you!!!

I stopped bleaching my hair years ago because of the damage but just recently had a few foils of blond put in and noticed that dry hair change immediately so this will be the last time. I recently had my very long hair chopped off short but thinking of a style much shorter at the sides and back like yours, your video has given me inspiration to do this. Yes, you should keep your hair short because it really suits you, I live it 🤗

I know that your technique was a little reckless, but I decided to go for it, and do exactly what you did. Well I really like the way it came out! This might be my favorite self-cut ever.
I didn’t hold out much hope when you started hacking your hair. I love a choppy look, i currently have long hair, its thick and it grows quick. Short hair suits you! I think because your hair is thick is why it has turned out so well. You look gorgeous.

Wow..... that was an amazing haircut/style. At first I thought she'd cut off too much and had next to nothing to do anything with. But when she showed us the finished style, I was surprised at how beautiful it had turned out! She could cut my hair anytime!
It really turned out nice! Very cute! I am also in the process of slowly getting rid of my damaged, bleached hair. I am constantly trimming off the dead ends and layering it to look healthier. You did a nice job. Well done!
Definitely very hard to do yourself, ended up looking good. A few more mirrors might have made it easier, but good on you. The short hair is so much nicer, brightens your whole face up.

I am retired from hairdressing and I always cut my own hair. I love what your doing. You should get a Carving tool,a sort of razor comb. This is great for a choppy look. I’m enjoying this video so much.
I began cutting my own hair after several disappointing stylist results despite expensive/less expensive costs & giving pretty straightforward directions. my hair style is short, simple & even though it may not be the best home cut it looks the way I want it, not too much off or too little. Longer on top & crown clipper at nape, undercut at ears. getting a mild weight line is challenging but with time & patience I pretty much get there. would rather not have to do it, but oh well. you did a great job, pretty much how mine is just a tad shorter! well done😊

If you do after having it slow long go in small stages as too much too fast is a shock and can be a real downer

I know it sounds scary, but I find it much easier to cut my own hair neatly without a mirror. Going by feel gives a neater finish than having to try to reverse what you’re seeing in the mirror.
I was literally. Cheering on! I recently cut my almost shoulder length hair super short after my hairdresser over processed my hair then did a keratin treatment. It felt like straw! It’s still not right by any means, but I get a lot of compliments on it, which is the weirdest thing to experience!!! I’m actually going to have my old hairdresser whom I haven’t seen in a long time undercut it a little bit so I can get more movement and texturize where it’s bulky! You are the bravest person ever and I think you’re adorable beyond beyond beyond such a fantastic funny personality. I wish you lived near me. Love you!!!

I stopped bleaching my hair years ago because of the damage but just recently had a few foils of blond put in and noticed that dry hair change immediately so this will be the last time. I recently had my very long hair chopped off short but thinking of a style much shorter at the sides and back like yours, your video has given me inspiration to do this. Yes, you should keep your hair short because it really suits you, I live it 🤗

I have been cutting my own hair for the majority 10 years (I’ll occasionally go to a hairdresser to clean it up). I know that your technique was a little reckless, but I decided to go for it, and do exactly what you did. Well I really like the way it came out! This might be my favorite self-cut ever.
I didn’t hold out much hope when you started hacking your hair. I love a choppy look, i currently have long hair, its thick and it grows quick. Short hair suits you! I think because your hair is thick is why it has turned out so well. You look gorgeous.

What they are calling a pixie cut is a misnomer, it's not a true pixie. It's a bowl cut.

Wow..... that was an amazing haircut/style. At first I thought she'd cut off too much and had next to nothing to do anything with. But when she showed us the finished style, I was surprised at how beautiful it had turned out! She could cut my hair anytime!

Definitely very hard to do yourself, ended up looking good. A few more mirrors might have made it easier, but good on you. The short hair is so much nicer, brightens your whole face up.

I am retired from hairdressing and I always cut my own hair. I love what your doing. You should get a Carving tool,a sort of razor comb. This is great for a choppy look. I’m enjoying this video so much.

Razors are very bad for your hair. Why oh why do they keep trying to resurrect then? Use a thinning shears instead.
I use thinning shears to blend.
I began cutting my own hair after several disappointing stylist results despite expensive/less expensive costs & giving pretty straightforward directions. my hair style is short, simple & even though it may not be the best home cut it looks the way I want it, not too much off or too little. Longer on top & crown clipper at nape, undercut at ears. getting a mild weight line is challenging but with time & patience I pretty much get there. would rather not have to do it, but oh well. you did a great job, pretty much how mine is just a tad shorter! well done😊
