I thought you did a wonderful job. I watched you following everything you did. I went shorter on the top. I love Jamie Lee Curtis cut. Thank you for showing the steps you took.
Same. I'm late also. This is how my hair looks and I'm about to cut it myself. Fingers crossed. She's the best 1 out of 10 videos I've watched. Found what I needed from her. 👏
I have used a #4 on the back and a #8 on the top and a #6 to balance the transition from back to crown with the tapering attachments for around the ears and then a nice cleanup on the neckline with no attachment. About the beginning of the month seems to work well.
I've been cutting my hair for about 20 years. I would also recommend thinning shears. They work perfect to add a little texture to the top and transition between the shaved part and the longer hair!
Love how you cut your hair. So cute. After watching you and one other channel showing another lady cutting her own hair at home, I think I'm ready to tackle mine. Plus both of you used clippers, which has always intimidated me, but with your instructions, especially about going up and then sideways in both directions with clippers, feel much more comfortable. Thanks for sharing.
Cutting your own hair is so difficult and I think she did an amazing job on herself. Plus she explained everything while she did it which was very helpful, especially with the clippers!
Thanks Janet! Appreciate the kind comments! I did upgrade my clippers as it seemed that I had to work a bit harder with my old clippers. I used the new clippers on my kids last week and they worked like a charm!
What clippers did you upgrade to? I’m going to buy some for myself, because I’ve been trying to maintain my undercut and need better tools. I went to a wonderful hairdresser for over 30 years, but a couple of months ago, she moved to a faraway city.😢 I tried someone else at her shop and she did ok, but last time, I didn’t think the cut was quite right. I’m really nervous about going anywhere else because I’ve had a lot of squamous cell carcinoma on my scalp and a lot of scarring that affects how and where my hair grows. So, I want to learn how to cut my own hair, will save a ton of money, too! I’ve cut my husband’s hair since we got married 55 years ago, and I used to cut my kids hair, too, so I think I can do this! Thanks so much for the clear detailed instructions and video, very inspiring! Your haircut looks awesome!!!
@@jolynbranch1211 I learned over the course of the pandemic Costco sells good clippers with a decent motor (the brand changes according to bids, but they do insist on high quality with a good warranty). Upgrade your clippers with ceramic blades so the motor doesn't have to work as hard. I haven't found any clippers sold at Costco to not have ceramic blades options available online. Hope that helps!
Hi, I'm only two years late! As a former hairdresser, you did an amazing job, 👏 I love the fact you weren't scared to do it, most people are BTW. And it looked great too. 😀 xx
Just had this undercut pixie done at the hairdressers. I am now inspired to keep it going on my own at home. Thanks for showing us the “how to” details! It is such a pretty cut.
You did a great job. I am a black lady with semi straight & wavy hair, and I cut mine the same way. Thank you for the little tips on how to perfect the cut tho.
From across the pond in Essex England (just outside London). I have just given my Wife Her second Hair cut using your Video as a guide. My wife Jennifer is very pleased and We have to say Thank you. Your Vid is so easy to follow. Well done and Stay Safe. Kindest regards, Gerard.
Great job on your pixie! I've been cutting my own hair with scissors for about 50 yrs, but just started wearing a pixie this year. I haven't tried using clippers on the sides and back, but after watching this video I'm going to try it next time I need a trim. I love your videos and your sweet nature.
You have just inspired me to purchase a pair of clippers and get busy learning how to cut my own hair. I currently have a pixie. Thank you so very much!
Looks great! I have almost the same cut and I do it myself as well. I use a (cold) straightening iron as a guide on the top. Section it off just like I do when the iron is hot and just buzz it along the side of the iron with the clippers! I love your color too! 👏🏼
I just did this to my hair. I used a 16 guard clipper on my sides and back of my head. They sell one on Amazon if you ever want to buy it. Mine was 15 dollars. Leaves about 2 inches all over if you want some length off but not too much. They also have 10 and 12 guards.
Thank you very much! I’ve been in lockdown in Sydney for a couple of month and the hair dressers have been closed for 3-4 months. Hadn’t had a haircut in 6 and it was way tooooo long for me. This tutorial gave me the confidence to cut my own hair and I feel so much better for it! Thanks again :)
I cut my own hair sometimes too, it’s very satisfying especially when I’ve saved a lot of dosh to treat myself on something else. I enjoyed your video.
I loved your "do" sooo much that I talked myself into doing it on my pixie and I LOVE it!! It was so easy and it's nice and even, which was always a big problem especially when I cut the sides the old way with scissors. My plan is to do this every 3 weeks or so, so I never look like it was just cut or like it's needing cut. The clippers I have suck up the hair too which is really nice. Thanks for your fun videos--a nice change from all the other gloom and doom on TH-cam!!
Great job! You look wonderful! Thank you so much for this video! It helped me lose my fear of cutting my own hair using an electric trimmer. And btw, you are simply charming and adorable!
So glad I found your vid. I've been cutting hubbie's hair for awhile but just started doing my own during Covid lockdown. Using your clipper method for the back turned out great! Thank you!! Tip: when I get scissor cut straight edge, I trim it with thinning shears to make it disappear. Thanks again!
You did an awesome job - very brave!! I had so many "bad" haircuts as a child, having my mom cut my hair, that I am paranoid to touch mine, other than to trim up bangs from time to time. Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! Finally a good looking and easy to do DIY haircut. I hate hairdressers and don't go there, but I love nice short hair. This is perfect, feminine and pretty! Many thanks!
OMG you did an amazing job on your cut!!!! And I agree, the bleached tips on the clippered areas are perfect! I never miss a single one of your videos, but I have been watching on my smart TV & have no way to add comments (or if there is a way it is beyond my skill set😂🤣). But this blew me away and I had to grab my phone and comment. You really hit this one out of the park👍💖. Have a great weekend!
I dread going go hairdressers, so I've found this hairstyle is very easy to maintain on my own. I leave my front and bangs a bit longer. I use a Tinkle hair trimmer (a comb with a razor in it) to soften up any blunt areas and add texture. They're about $3 at beauty stores or Amazon. You did a great job! What a cute bathroom, by the way, I love the bathtub.
Great job! I lost my hair to chemo and it’s just now long enough I need to do something with it. It grows out very unevenly so I’ve been maintaining it myself so far. Just a little trimming here and there. I was getting the “chemo curls” on the sides and back and I looked like a clown so I shaved that off myself 😂 Now the top is finally starting to catch up. People like my “haircut” so I’m thinking of keeping it short. So many super cute and feminine short cuts! Thanks!
I have the flat/straight on top to just above my ears and then it wants to curl. I can’t stand it. I’m losing my hair in rows and not patches. As my hairdresser explained….there is like 2 rows of hair that aren’t growing in between a row. If that makes any sense. I’ve had to cut my hair shorter & shorter. It really bothered me at 1st….then I thought….the hell with it 😂 with everything else I’ve been through. Thank you for your comment. No one has ever said anything to me about ‘chemo curls’. Be well. ❤
This is the best tutorial where everything is explained before, while and after. Congrats for your introductions asnit is really helpful. I have ordered my tools and hopefully will give me a nice pixie haircut.
Great job! I love it! I just did mine, but I used the number 6 attachment on the side, so it's VERY short, but it's going to be a HOT summer here and I wanted this so much. I love mine too.
#6 is longer. The higher the number the loner it is. I use the #2 sometimes #3 which is real short, but I like it because I bleach and it’s easier when it’s short in the back. 😊 I love her technique of any of seen. I’m doing mine tomorrow. 😊
I love your courage, and I admire the outcome of everything I've seen you do with your hair. Could definitely pass for a professional job! (Who knows ... you may decide to continue doing your hair on your own after the pandemic is over ... or maybe just go to the salon for a treat once in a while.) As always, you look adorable!!
Thank you for sharing this!! I had trimmed my hair the day before I found your video and I absolutely hated it! I was ready to buzz my head and start from scratch. After watching your video I thought “maybe I can salvage this…” And I did! It’s not perfect, but I got to keep my top length. ❤
Kudos to you I think you did an awesome job!!. I started doing my own pixie undercut a couple years ago right before the pandemic. A couple of tips, I use professional scissors as well as a shorter brand that's not super Sharp along with a longer pair of scissors. Having the variety of scissor lengths makes it easier to cut the back and not end up injuring one's self. The long pair of scissors are what I use to cut the back (or hard to reach areas) and I do point cutting with those that aren't super Sharp. The channel Sharalee's Box of Chocolate has some videos of how her hairdresser does her pixie undercut. Anyway I enjoyed your video and I also have to say your bathroom is especially pretty love that tub!! 💖 God bless and stay well.
So adorable! You did a great job! I had a short blonde double process pixie that is growing out until I operated on my hair this weekend it’s a mess since I moved. Very cute hair!
Omg. Fantastic job. Since my puppy is afraid of the clippers, and the pandemic, I started using her clipper on myself.Lol. It has different length attachments but I have been terrified of clipping going upward. I am going to give myself a brave new haircut right now using you method.
Thank you so much for the video, this is exactly the cut i want to try to do on my own. I have fine hair, so i either have a bob, or need a cut like this. Since its summer here in fla. Im ready for this cut! You look fantastic, and thanks again.
Wow... you did a great job! Great inspiration... it's hard to find someone who can cut a pixie cut well. If I mess it up, I can just be mad at myself, and that's that. Thank you for sharing!
I loved this video Its given me the confidence to do my own hair now my hair is the same as you're was length wise You have really made a good job of it i am really excited to have a go at mine now hopefully it's a success it will save me loads of money as I have to get it cut every four weeks thank you once again xxx
Wow. Looks so great. You're right, I love the dark showing through, too! WOW. Your mom must have been proud. Maybe you can go work with her at her salon!
Thanks. You gave me (73) the courage to just do it! I used 0.5" edge (largest I could find in our clipper box) then scissor- trimmed the top mop. (The hair was much worse than the YT photo of me.) I'm so pleased with the results that I'm going to keep it up. Three years ago, my hair decided it needed to grow unruly curls (hairdresser said hair has 7 yr phases). My scalp psoriasis has become manic with external rx of little value any longer. This haircut really allows much better access to the scalp. It was hard not to do my whole head with that 0.5" edge.
OK, I am NOT a professional. Only a professional youtube haircut watcher since March. 😂 If you want to soften up the blunt ends, either look up point cutting or get yourself some texturizing sheers. Some stylists use them instead of point cutting. You did a great job! Super cute!!!!!!
I am a hairstylist. When you do either of those tips ( both good) before starting to cut pull your section piece out horizontally, comb smooth and do that trick with the hair pulled out horizontally at a 45’ degree angle from the head. That way when you comb it down you won't have chunks taken out of the bottom. It will be a nice fine layer
This was the exact same comment I was going to make some thinning shears to soften up the blunt cut. Especially since she’s left-handed and it makes her have difficulty cutting. I can take that edge off it. 😁✂️
I would do the same Sandi, point cutting instead of blunt. Actually she could have done that all over the longish parts…versus all the blunt cutting…all in all, she did fairly well…
good job. I learned iyears ago in a haircutting book to trim the sides with scissors by taking vertical sections, not horizontal. That way you won't get the blunt line. The top you can do in front to back sections and then trim the center section the opposite way to even it up.
I thought you did a wonderful job. I watched you following everything you did. I went shorter on the top. I love Jamie Lee Curtis cut. Thank you for showing the steps you took.
I've watched several hair cutting tutorials and this one is the best by far

She so cute. I learned about just watching this video. Great Job!

Wow, this looks so easy. I think I'll just try. You look great. 👍

Hi, a very refreshing video, friendly and to the point. A lovely cut btw, really suits you! X Thankyou for sharing! Xx

Love this! Very cute cut and it really looks doable for us non-professionals!
You crazy girls! You have the cajones to go with that! My hair means the world to me! And on top of that it takes long to grow back!!!!
This video helped me alot!

You did great!!! Looks cute!!💐

(The hair was much worse than the YT photo of me.) Thank you show it for everyone !! Well done!!
Thanks Penny 🌸🌻
Love your haircut. Thanks for sharing. That’s what I want my to look like. Afraid to do it on myself.
I also love the color variations in the back of your head, it's very cool 🤩
You're brave on doing it yourself, I'm a lefty too, I'm not brave enough to do this to my hair. Did a great job
You are very brave, but have good insights. It looks great!

Actually she could have done that all over the longish parts…versus all the blunt cutting…all in all, she did fairly well…
You are so brave and so clever to do that to.your hair. It looks lovely. Well done from the Uk 🥰
good job. I learned iyears ago in a haircutting book to trim the sides with scissors by taking vertical sections, not horizontal. That way you won't get the blunt line. The top you can do in front to back sections and then trim the center section the opposite way to even it up.
