So darn cute. I'm 79 and started cutting my hair like like this so I feel validated. Lol. You live long enough and you get lots of bad cuts.. I did make an oops in the back when I tried clippers but at least I'm not bald back there 😂. Live and learn. 😊
Just want to thank you for the video. I appreciated the scissors only cut. Right after watching I got out the hair cutting tools I bought and used during covid and haven’t used since, and cut my own hair. The cut turned out really cute. Your emphasis on cutting out the bulk really helped and being “scrappy”. Thanks again!
It is inevitable when cutting one's own hair that one will cut one's finger(s). I've been cutting my own hair for 40+ years (everything from a pixie to medium length hair) and I always cut my finger every single time, LOL! You did a great job, thanks for inspiring us all. 💜✂️
Your hair is so darn cute!!! I’m 29 & I’ve been cutting my hair for over a decade but I’ve never done a pixie! Thank you for the video, I will definitely be using this as reference!!
Thanks, Sage. Your hair looks amazing! I, too, have been cutting my husband’s hair for years, over 50 years actually! Have cut my kids and now grandkids hair sometimes, too. It’s never been unusual for me to trim between haircuts, especially bangs, front and sides. I had an amazing hairstylist who cut my hair for over 30 years and I could always count on her to do a great job, but recently she moved far away.😢 I have tried the stylist in the same shop she recommended when she left and a stylist in another shop also, but all three were terrible haircuts! I haven’t had to face this problem in years and I have no idea where to turn next. To complicate matters further, I just had major surgery for cancer, so I can’t go anywhere right now anyway. I’m thinking I’m going to order a good mirror that I can use to see the back of my hair (been trimming more or less blind back there), and cut my own. I have the years of experience cutting others hair and now the inspiration of your wonderful video, so I think I can do this, maybe better than anyone! Thanks so much for sharing your video, and if you have any good ideas about how to find a good stylist, please let me know! Have a wonderful day!😃
This cut is perfect on you. I'm thinking of getting one. Looks so clean and stylish. The pixie is the only style that never looks dated. I think that's pretty interesting.
I like your technique, how you preserved the length. That's what I want to do ever since I clippered my hair to 1" length. Only use a scissors now. I also like how you keep the sides and sideburns longer. I'm going to try this even though my hair doesn't have the thickness or wave yours does. So many self-cutting pixie videos use clipper or do an undercut, which I do not want. Thanks. P.S. Update: after writing this I gave myself a very slight trim using your technique, which I really like. Kept it in a side part, so much easier! Only did front and sides not back because back looks okay right now and since I only trimmed a tiny, tiny bit to get ends even, it's okay to let it go right now. Top & sides look smoother now, more blended in. Ended up trimming the back of my head too, a few days later since layers were getting longer. I still didn't cut a large amount off since I need to grow some sections out. But of course the neck length was getting too long as well so I trimmed that. Since my hair is stick straight it comes out boxy in back (had that problem even after 1" clipper cut) I decided to use a cheap plastic eyebrow razor to thin out the very bottom ends just a tiny bit. I was scared to do that at first but I think that did the trick. You didn't have that problem because your hair has some wave and looked feminine.
That’s great! I’ve had all different styles and cuts over the years - but after 3-4 weeks after a cut my hair needs trimming. I’m glad the side part trim technique worked for you!
Your hair is wavy and looks great cut this way. Mine is so straight and cut very close to yours but it looks different because of the straightness. You did s great job
Gosh it looks like a professional haircut love it. I wish I had the confidence to take a pair of scissors to my pixie cut (maybe one day I’ll take the plunge)! It’s good to see you back so soon, so enjoy watching your videos. Take care until the next time 😊
Thank you Lorraine! 💜My perspective is that hair grows out, and if I ever do mess up my hair, it will grow out and I can get it corrected at the salon. Have a wonderful day!
It was nice to see you again!! I check your channel every once in awhile so this was a nice surprise. Hope all is well with you and your family. Your hair is adorable. Hoping I see you again soon....maybe a make-up video?
Such perfect timing for me and my pixie! I have the same problem of the top getting too heavy and flat so I was trying to figure out what to do without going back to my super short chop. Thank you so much! ❤Your trim is adorable! Btw are you ambidextrous? 🤔
Thanks much for this helpful demonstration of how you trim the back of your hair!! I've been cutting my own hair for years and have gone a bit shorter than I wanted more than once. I've definitely cut a knuckle or two. I think I finally got it better in the back now, not perfect, but better. I'm a retiree and am outdoors a lot walking, usually wear a hat/scarf if it's windy or snowy, so I guess I'm more into the casual look these days and not a social butterfly, lol. I was actually old school rolling the top with plastic rollers, since I hate fooling with a blow dryer and never mastered a curling iron or any of the newer styling tools. I do like some of the vintage short cuts I've seen here on you tube also, and the styles you've come up with are cute on you.
It is high maintenance I guess when it comes to hair growth and having to get frequent hair cuts! My hair is growing like a weed right now because I am taking collagen ✂️💇
@@sagedawn Thank You SageDawn .. that means a lot to me !!! I also had a pixie and hope it grows back in .. love watching you style your hair! Watching for your next video .. such fun !! ❤️
I enjoyed watching you cut your hair, lovely job, actually I’ve been cutting my own hair for a long time, it’s a short layered style, the hairdresser used to cut my hair much too short for my liking and they’re expensive. ❤
You did an Incredible job! I'm 67yrs old and my hair is falling out. I have longer than shoulder length hair and decided on a pixie cut. I'm going to a salon 1st, then will maintain the cut myself. Being a Senior Citizen it isn't always easy with Social Security ck to go to a salon every 6-8wks. So this was a big help. Thank you. I wanted to ask, what did you add to your hair for the fullness? A pomade? Spray shampoo?
👏🏻 you did a great job. I also cut my own pixie since cutting my own through Covid. Just wanted to watch you because we have similar hair type in that you have a natural wave and your hair line at the back goes slightly to one side which makes cutting it difficult. I find using thinning scissors where it’s thicker takes the weight out of it and point cutting around the ears gives a textured look rather than straight line cutting. Another good tip is from the Occipital bone at the back of the head, run the scissors down vertically down across the back. This thins out and gives shape 😉 Thank you 🙏🏻
I was so happy to see a new video from you, and I thought you did an amazing job cutting your own hair. Your videos are my inspiration and you are so down to earth and genuine!
I also started cutting my own hair during pandemic til now, I also cut my sister and nephew's hair. And yeah I cut my fingers from time to time too hahaha. Nice haircut.
Great to see you pretty lady! Your trim turned out so cute. I am very impressed with how you cut your own hair, I would have cut fingers and a scarecrow do 😆. I know your mom has cut your hair many times, how is she? 💗
Hello Dawn, lovely surprise this morning to see your new video, my word what a good job too! You have helped me so much over the past couple of years keeping my pixie in shape - your video on you clippering and colouring your hair is my go to when I get my husband to help me! Great to see your little cheery face again, look forward to seeing you again soon. Averil UK
Reviewed your video, as I was asked to give a friend of my girlfriend a short haircut. I love long hair, my girlfriend has long hair, but I know that not every lady wants to keep her hair long, and there are guys, like her husband that admire short hair. Getting asked to do something different is fun , but I have a responsibility to do a really great job, when a lady trusts you to cut her hair. Trimming long hair is so much easier, you do the sectioning, establish the guide, keep it even, little chance of error. Short hair leaves less room for mistakes. I think you did well, but being you are a lefty like me, you should get a good pair of lefty shears. Using the wrong shears, the blades push apart, so you are fighting them, getting an uneven cut. I would say you would be happier with the results using lefty hair shears. Short hair is less forgiving, on my two step sons, I am just using clippers, in a week, no difference. And the common complaint is that mullet thing on my neck is bugging me. And you fixed it for yourself. You really don’t need to go to the salon, you did well on your own. 😊
Awww thanks so much! I didn’t even know they made lefty shears 🤷🏻 I will order some 😃thanks for the tip! I have been going to the salon every three or four months and do a little maintenance trim myself in between.
This was the best tutorial! After watching this I went and gave my overdue pixie cut a fresh new look! ( I just couldn’t stand it anymore lol) the good news is I can continue to trim as needed. May update the “sideburns” I actually did this without a back mirror! Just kind of did it by feel. I like how you said you are a bit “scrappy” Me too! Thanks so much! I’ll be looking for more videos 😊
