    That stand was so fun to sit down and have a snack! I loved this area. Upper Goose pond was great. The pancakes were divine! I picked blueberries and gave them to the host to add to my pancakes and everyone else’s! Only place I swam the whole trail! The shelter was too hot, so your motel will be great!

    Love seeing you in my home state- where I love hiking. A dear friend (Buckeye) who had to get off trail recently, RAVED about the Goose Pond shelter Pancakes. Also, seeing the crazy down on Bear mountain (CT) a bit ago, gives so much perspective on what she was describing for her up. Thank you for all of the hard work you do to share this amazing journey with us! I am vicariously enjoying every step.

      I did that hike in 2022. Have the t-shirt no joke.
      There is a store at the top that sells special things you can only get there.
      Hike itself isn’t too bad. Just make sure your super early so you can start before tons of people are on trail. I did it in Spring right after Easter. That area got rain the day before but at the top was snow on the trees and ice all over the trail. I brought my spikes and was super lucky.
      Enjoy cause it’s beautiful!!!=)

    I am not far from the Pike either. Every time I see that AT bridge, with its cool little spiral, it makes me want to hike it. I think it’s so cool that they spent the time and money to construct that just for the hikers. That’s not your typical foot bridge. That thing looks like it could hold a semi!

    I love watching your blog's first thing I do in the morning with a cup of coffee. I'm stuck at home a lot at the moment with post covid fatigue so watching all the nature shots are amazing. But even when I was young I never would have had the fitness or the bravery to do the AT. Totally admire what you are doing. Love that you include the food you eat the resupply the laundry the shoe replacement and all of that. That's just reality on the trail and the hotel/motel stops which you totally deserve. ❤

    I think that it makes sense that you would talk a bit about food-it's so important to get enough calories while thru-hiking, and I think mentioning all your meals helps prepare potential AT hikers as to what to plan for/expect!! Also, it's something to look forward to and is motivating; thinking and talking about food gives one a prize to keep their eyes on so to speak to make those miles go by a little faster/easier maybe?!😁

    I started watching OG at your recommendation. He is ahead of you in video release time. It is funny to see the similarities and differences. He went to the same AT stand, where he also mentioned that there was a charging station. It was probably full with the hiker group already there. He went to the Goose Pond cabin, but it was not open because the caretaker was sick.
    You do talk about food a lot, but it's a big deal on the AT: Maslow's hierarchy of needs at work.

    What's crazy to me is that i went to high school for 2 years in Dalton, Mass and hung out from Lee to North Adams the entire time yet no one really ever mentioned the AT. So now when i go through next year it'll be odd that i know most of the surrounding area trails and not the AT. Most of my AT knowledge was living in PA where i section the PA and Jersey sections a few hundred times. Ive been watching more of your content now that you're in NE because here in TH-cam you see a lot of perspectives about NE from people who've never been there. It's interesting to see the perspective of someone who actually has ties to the area. It'll give me some insight as to what PA and Mass will be like for me next year.

      Pretty sure when she said 1.5 miles from the campsite, it meant 1.5 miles along the trail, not 1.5 miles off the trail. Why she didn't just get water at the motel is what I didn't understand. I doubt it's a purism thing, seeing as she drinks Coke and Gatorade also. Maybe nasty tap water, or just forgot.

      It's pretty simple, most of her calories come from carbs and sugar which spikes blood sugar then insulin each time. Our bodies will not burn our own fat if insulin is high. Insulin essentially tells our fat cells what to do (store or release energy).

      Well it’s sort of the same thing as stoking for a marathon the day before the race like used to see for Boston every year. Except every day is almost another marathon. Lately though the media hasn’t focused on that as much as they used to (re: Boston. ) probably because about 15-20 years ago one of the Africans that won it was seen barfing it up post race. But also the marathoner is only running for say 3-4 hours on average, the hiker doing 20 is going for about 8 hours.
