G21 330i driver here. I totally agree with you about the brightness of the display at night. I drive a lot at night and always turn down the dash display and switch off the control display. In fact I put the 'switch' under the 8th function key. Works perfect. The dash however can't be turned down enough. My solution is using the 'simple mode' which sort of resembles the Saab 'Night Panel'. I wish BMW would offer a orange dash layout. Would already be a large improvement (and a wink to the past...) over the bright white layout. Joe; great review of a beautiful M3 Touring. Love the wheels.
Fabulous review Joe. Absolutely love the interior! That dash, those seats, the steering wheel all oozes class and like you say lifts the BMW into another level. Have a great trip to Oz🦘 and stay safe.
Hi Joe loving the M3 Touring been following you since your m140i days, although this car is far more car than id need in performance as well as practicality terms i like it none the less. Recently got what id describe as my dream car, a San Francisco red Z4 m40i had it two weeks now and i absolutely love it. 😊
Joe, your car looks fantastic. I have an F80 M3. E36 M3 Evo coupe and Porsche 944 Turbo 1986. People underestimate the need for proper geometry. It transforms the feel of any car, especially if you lower or change the suspension. They ask how you feel about the car and how you want it set up and advise accordingly. At very high speed

It’s an absolutely outstanding vehicle Joe! I’ve driven the new M2 back to back with the G80 and 82, and they all impress me. The 87 is by far more playful as you said but the interior quality of the M3 is just that step up and the touring practicality factored into it, it’s a dream come true!

Great review - I have an M4 Comp xdrive, in no small part due to your reviews. Great car, went for the standard seats as its a daily, don't regret that and they have worn well over year and 9k miles (like you I am tall and big framed ). The bugbear seems to be electrical stuff, especially with the new driver aids all the manufacturers have been forced to bring in recently. Been back 3 times in a year with electrical issues one of them quite serious and life threatening. Front end, engine, handling and practicality is great given the nature of the car.
@@zeptosecond4106 - A few areas a) The driver assistance can easily get confused - near to home roadworks the covered over road markings confused it at night and it kept (forcefully) trying to turn me into the concrete barrier and resisting my correction b) The useful assistance like emergency break assistance turn off in heavy rain, bright sunlight or any other averse weather you'd really need it for. It was some kind of software cascade failure. Pumped the brakes for a few seconds and the systems started to come back on line. Forward camera was replaced with a firmware upgrade, dealer "couldn't recreate the issue" which is understandable . I wrote to BMW saying they have a software issue and they have tried to close the case and ignore my note. Everyone I talk to the driver aids have different issues by model but they are not yet reliable. Hi Chris. I got in touch with my local BMW dealer after I raised concerns about the screen brightness, here is the advise: FYI You can dial back the dash brightness easily with a dial on the right side near the drivers leg. You can also select an option that says ‘reduce brightness for night driving’ I imagine this will solve the issue.
Can you not turn the display off at night? On my F90, you can turn the central display off at night, dim the drivers screen, and either turn off or dim the HUD.
