@@recoil53 I have seen that episode. Rachel was looking for clothes though. Simon and Martina loves a lot of the anime and cute toys and stuff. I collect toys and that would be an episode that I would love to see. Plus Simon says a lot of off pudding stuff that is so funny. Then Martina chimes in and makes it ten times funnier. Jun is very reserved. These two takes off and I find myself cracking up so bad.
Hello everyone! For this week's video we want to share some of the pieces of sushi I never saw when I was in North America. Maybe they're new to you too. If so, don't pass them up when you're here in Japan :D
I always get such strange looks every time I tell someone I don't eat seafood. It's always followed up with "BUT HAVE YOU TRIED *insert seafood item here*!?" YES, AND I DO NOT LIKE IT
In Spring, my local grocery had a sushi special- even flew in sushi chefs from Tokyo. They brought A5 Kobe. I grilled it, served it on sushi rice and asparagus tips. I nearly cried.
Sushi doesn’t mean fish. It’s the rice that is prepared with vinegar & sugar. You can eat it with whatever you want. But, yes, it is traditionally prepared with fish, but not exclusively.
Sending a prayer for harmony in this relationship. It was a true gift to witness your connection, to watch you grow together. And even if you’ve grown apart and life requires you to take separate paths, may you have reverence for each other for being great teachers to each other in this life time. There is deep love here, on a soul level. May your lives both continue to be blessed 🦋
my teacher told me that japanese salmon is called しゃけ/さけ/鮭 and cannot be eaten raw. the ones from norwegia is simply called サーモン and they’re the ones eaten raw for sushi / sashimi. gotta love these geeky piece of food knowledge!
A kind with like cooked fish on it xD i dont remember exactly what it was, as it was like 8 years ago when i went to Japan for the first time, but it was delicious
I haven't had a good experience with sushi, being from England. However, I have a trip to Japan booked in April and I'm being brave and plan to try some again.
I was in my subscriptions and saw it was posted a minute ago by chance and i was wondering why my notification didnt pop up to let me know? turns out I was actually faster than my notification XD MY LOVE FOR THIS CHANNEL IS STRONGER THAN THE SYSTEM XD
Yall's videos make my day so much brighter... they help me bulid a ladder on days that I can not find that next rung...guilty of the binge watching on the roughest days.
I've been keeping you guys in my heart this week and binge watching your videos again. You're one of my inspirations to travel more, which is saying something because I'm like 95% a homebody. But this year I went on a two week trip to England, Scotland, Wales, Germany and France and it was amazing. Just getting out of my comfort zone, doing things and eating things and learning things, it was awesome. I've already started planning a trip to Japan which has been a bucket list thing for a decade. Might not happen for a while, that's a lot of money to save and before I can I need to take care of my responsibilities (why is my roof leaking?!?) xD but it's in my sights and the internet now knows my wishes and won't stop giving me travel ads for Japan xD
The nice thing about not having found you guys till like 2 years ago is that I have no shortage if videos to watch. I haven't really paid attention to your upload schedule but it feels like you upload a lot which is amazing because of how well edited and how nicely put together your videos are. Hope you both are doing well. 💜
UNAGI HAHA I love the FRIENDS reference! Also, Martina was talking about dipping a piece of bread into gravy. Like "the moist maker" in Ross' Thanksgiving sandwich HAHAHAHA
Simon and Martina you don’t even know! I’ve been binge watching your videos nearly every single day. Watching your videos make me so happy. Love you guys!
I squeed when I realized you guys were at the toy capsule restaurant again! I wish they would put one here. I think it would be a hit! Oh man, these all look so amazing! its so nice to see that there are some that have beef in them too! I can't eat seafood, so when we go out to eat here and want to eat sushi, I'm usually stuck with all veggie, and I am such a carnivore. Only one place I know of has an off-menu chicken tempura sushi, and it is AMAZING. OMG I also just noticed that Martina has fish earrings. That's so awesome and perfect!
YOU STOP MAKEN' ME SO SUSHI HUNGRY!!! You guys make me want to come to Japan just to eat ... Thanks for making another great video, it was a lot of fun to watch!
"I hope you're listening to this with headphones on...MmmMmmm". Actually, I'm watching this on the livingroom tv, and my mom is sitting next to me. 😆🤷♀️
4:14 Jokes on you sexy voice-over! I live alone so I can watch this without headphones and not be ashamed. xD Meanwhile: *My cat's side-eyeing me judgingly*
Ooh thanks for this (as always) beautifully shot, edited and interesting video :)) I have my first Japanese class at uni today and this has me hyped for it ^^
Stack of plates? Hopefully a toy is incoming! Last time I went to kaiten in my town I got a tokidoki keychain :D!!! (but you win a prize every 15 plates, it's not random). I loved the history you guys threw in about the kaiten sushi, I didn't know it took 5 years to get the speed and all that right. That's SO RAD! Martina, that lip color is EVERYTHING what is it? I have a similar skin tone to yours and I've been looking for a shade similar to that for a while now. The strangest sushi I ever had was this huge roll with beef and asparagus? Like the packed an American dinner in and then rolled it in rice. It was wild. I was not a fan overall, but it was fun to try.
You heard our whining in a previous video, and graciously created a bonus vid for the capsule toy--bless you!! Anywho, I always wondered about the salmon sushi, was curious if salmon was native to Japan or when it was introduced to the cuisine. Thanks for taking us out to eat with you guise! :D
I haven’t watched y’all in forever, I miss y’all!!! I love how Martina eats slow but Simon is savage!!!! Best of both worlds. And y’all have so much knowledge. Keep up the good work!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ Yes I’m watching from Portland Oregon
I've been watching a tonne of Tucker videos as well! I really think you two would suit a golden retriever so well! You need something as squishy and slightly derpy as meemers after all!
I've had a lot of weird and wonderful soosh in my days but horse and natto was probably the grossest haha! AWESOME VIDEO! You have succeeded i making me very hungry. I had no idea conveyor sushi has been around that long!
Love Kura Sushi! I obviously went there because you guys recommended it. Also, love the fact that I can ID recycled shots from your previous video there! (specifically at 2:53). Not being snarky, just proud that I can ID them 😊
These looked so good that I googled this sushi place and it turns out there is one close to where I live!!!!!! I went there the steak and the SCALLLOP were Amazing!!! I even won a landyard ❤️❤️❤️ Thank You Simon and Martina for some wonderful recommendations!
It's like you are in my head. CoCo Curry and Kura Sushi are the restaurants we ALWAYS go to when in Japan. It's just so good and convenient. My favourite Sushi at Kura is the Ebi or Salmon Cheese. It has flambéed cheese sauce on top and has this burnt after taste I really don't want to like it, because it feels super unauthentic, but I can't help it. IT'S JUST SO FREAKING GOOD.
Aaaaa its almost midnight here im peak hungry and peak sleepy. I loved the fun facts in the video! And also martina's sound effects for the sushi order arriving
I had what I called "grass sushi" - but I think it was chives or some other herb piled up on it and wrapped in seaweed. So good! I've never seen it anywhere else.
Because they have been in Japan too long. Takashi. Tokyo. Tare. The T is everywhere. So Toronto with the T. He will lose it quick when he goes back home.
I think the "strangest" sushi I had was a Hawaiian mango roll with pineapple drizzle. It was at a really nice sushi place we go to and you know the flavour of the fish with the salty and sweet was really good! I love sweet and savoury together always! The only salmon i've had thus far that I didn't like was mackerel with skin still on! The flavour was too intensely fishy for me haha
It all looks so good! I miss kaiten sushi so much. Love the video! A pronunciation tip to help you out, gunkan is pronounced closer to "goon-kahn" the "u" is always an "ooh" sound, and "a" is always "ah". It was very cute when you said gunkan like it rhymes with Duncan tho
Looks amazing. I'm thinking about checking it out when I'm in Tokyo again this autumn :D My favourite "traditional" sushi are inari, tako, unagi and tamago. I always have to get those and see what else is available. And kappa maki since my daughter loves kappa, she even has a kappa plushie doll. Oh and hotate are also delicious as topping. This would indeed be a great place for my husband since he hates fish but there is enough choice here for him. Love your earrings btw
The strangest sushi I had in Japan was cheeseburger. Tiny little cheeseburgers on rice. They were so cute also. And I agree with everyone else. The earrings are so cute.
Martina, I am loving the soy sauce fish bottle earrings!
Yes me too!!!
MARTINA I MUST KNOW WHERE YOU GOT THOSE EARRINGS
I didn't even notice those! XD Those are amazing.
When you run out of shoyu, you can use those?
When you go to a sushi place, you gotta wear them earings xD
Can you guys do a thrift store episode? I want to know what the Japanese people give away. MB
omg totally. I would love to see a Japanese thrift store. please please do one.
I envision a Japanese Macklemore.
Thx.
Rachel of Rachel and Jun has gone to thrift stores.
@@recoil53 I have seen that episode. Rachel was looking for clothes though. Simon and Martina loves a lot of the anime and cute toys and stuff. I went thrifting around Shibuya, and let me tell u, lots of treasures to find! Really affordable too :)
Hello everyone! For this week's video we want to share some of the pieces of sushi I never saw when I was in North America. Maybe they're new to you too. If so, don't pass them up when you're here in Japan :D
Possibly because I was friends with someone who's family owned a sushi place in texas I have seen a lot of these
I love sushi, but I'm curious if you've had concerns with sushi in Japan after the nuclear plant disaster? Is there some guideline you'd recommend?
Only in Japan just did this
What is this restaurant called!? I'm coming to Tokyo in a few days and the cooked sushi would be perfect for my bf :)
Random film making question: When you film each other, do you use autofocus or manual focus?
I also don’t eat seafood and fish, can confirm that beef sushi is the shit. The cooked and the raw ones are both incredible.
omg, i DESPISE seafood, too
I always get such strange looks every time I tell someone I don't eat seafood. It's always followed up with "BUT HAVE YOU TRIED *insert seafood item here*!?"
YES, AND I DO NOT LIKE IT

Excuse me!? Beef sushi???

(I love the unagi reference so much)
“Aah salmon skin roll” (point hand at head)
Glad someone also knew the reference!! lol
Omg I can’t stop laughing! I just watch that episode. 😂
Luz Fitts what is this a reference to?
@@zacharykiebler2001 friends!

this feels like a classic eat your kimchi video seeing you in the sushibelt restaurant!
much love from Germany 💕
I’m at the start of the video, I’m crossing my fingers that Martina will win a toy!!!
I love how you show us all the random things in Japan
Also, NOTIFICATION SQUAD! What's the best piece of sushi you ever ate?
I don't have access to some really great sushi but from what I have had, I've had some great beef tataki, salmon sashimi and bbq eel nigiri.
Albacore belly nigiri from Sugar Fish in LA... melt in your mouth
A kind with like cooked fish on it xD i dont remember exactly what it was, as it was like 8 years ago when i went to Japan for the first time, but it was delicious
Actually a quite common and simple Nori Maki with Takuan inside!

Your editing makes me laugh so much. Sometimes subtle - but big impact!! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face.
Unagi 😁
Hotate is my favourite, mmmmm
Saba is also very good.
Don't be afraid to try new sushi guys!
8:00 - Anyone else flashing back to the episode of "The Nanny," when Fran ate the big ball of wasabi?
You are both an inspiration. Genuine and passionate about everything, from seasonal sushi to a toaster. Love it.
It took me a second to realize Martina’s earring and they’re so cute!
"The NICENESS of the rice-"
Dang Simon, you whip out your thesaurus for that one? LOL
"The oceans Marshmallow", that's amazing haha!

"Breen fraze" - Martina 2019
I questioned whether I heard it correctly when she said that 😂
I've never heard of beef sushi and now I want nothing else. I will not rest until I find it. Thanks for another awesome video guys!
I had to eat something while watching this. I get drooly and hangry during these food videos. Good morning from Ontario!
UNAGI HAHA I love the FRIENDS reference!
Also, Martina was talking about dipping a piece of bread into gravy. Like "the moist maker" in Ross' Thanksgiving sandwich HAHAHAHA

Martina has special earrings for everything!!! I see you fish earrings. I SEE YOU
I love, love, LOVE your earrings! If you run out of soy sauce can you use them? hahaha
this is the only channel that i don’t skip the ads on just because of how much i love y’all
The convenience and sleekness of Japanese restaurants never stops amazing me. The hot water at the press of a button is so nice.
Ahhhhhh a new episode of my favorite podcast about the paranormal and a new video from Simon and Martina?! This is the bestest day ever!! 😍🥳🎉🎊😁
Hell yeah! Back to capsule toy sushi!
Home sick in bed, but my day just got 10000 times better, when a new video from my favorite couple showed up!
Already liking the video. I’m super excited to visit and eat all the things. Well most. Haha
Love waking up in the states and seeing a new video post from you two. Way to make my day!
“Beef with Tasty Sauce”
I read that in Chris Broad’s voice.
😂
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR - I needed this extra push to try new types of sushi since moving here (Japan)
Good thing I just ate breakfast, lol. Hope ya’ll have a great week! 😀
i've been rewatching all of your guys videos again
"The ocean's marshmallow..." Amazing!
Your old Japanese conveyor belt video is my favourite! Happy to see you back here

I was already hungry before watching this 😅 Lovely video as always. I’m very much enjoying the podcast too!
After all these years, you'd think I'd learn by now. But nope! I STILL choose to watch your food videos on an empty stomach. 😅

I went to one of these for my birthday it was so much fun trying new types and it was so good. I loved going there!
Omg Martina's earrings are goals. I really loved this video! I learned so much !
What a great and simple video about sushi!! You made me feel like I was there!
OMG! Martina's earrings!!! 💖
Beef with vinegar-ed rice and seaweed: so simple, but so delicious, I'd seriously have 3rds of both the beef, the unagi and the scallops!
I've been watching a tonne of Tucker videos as well! I really think you two would suit a golden retriever so well! You need something as squishy and slightly derpy as meemers after all!
I've had a lot of weird and wonderful soosh in my days but horse and natto was probably the grossest haha!

Watching you eat that salmon cleared my sinuses. This gives me nostalgia of Simon pretending to fake chew too ✨
It's not hard to tell when you two are hungry! 😁
It's amazingly cute.
Also I thought I saw a tuna mayo with cucumber sushi that sounds delicious!
Yessssss. Love watching you guys, makes my day!!
I love the spicy scallop, not a big salmon sushi fan, but I love smoked salmon in other dishes. Fun video guys.
I was just about to go sleep, but then I got this notification.... oh wells, who needs sleep 😅🤗
Legit same
It's been 8 seconds and Simon cracked me up already with that gesture he did when he said "unagi". *"WE WERE ON A BREAK!"* ;)
These looked so good that I googled this sushi place and it turns out there is one close to where I live!!!!!!
I went there the steak and the SCALLLOP were Amazing!!! I even won a landyard ❤️❤️❤️

I had what I called "grass sushi" - but I think it was chives or some other herb piled up on it and wrapped in seaweed. So good! I've never seen it anywhere else.
I loved the beef sushi at kura sushi, I ate waaay to many of them!
I heard Simon pronounce the last “t” in Toronto 😩 SIMON WHYYYY
Because they have been in Japan too long. Takashi. Tokyo. Tare. The T is everywhere. So Toronto with the T. He will lose it quick when he goes back home.
Martina, where do you get your cute earrings? They are so adorable and unique!
They have some of those same dishes at Kura here in Dallas too :). I love the backpack 😍 Have a great week!
Thank you for your thorough research.
i should not be awake rn but when it comes to your videos i couldn’t give less of a heck if my sleep schedule becomes offensive :)
I always love your accessories Martina!
I nearly cried when Martina did the Spudgy voice during the scallop bit. I miss him 😭
