Could Simon actually do something like a " book of the month " or a book discussion of some sort, something like that? Kinda amazing how much he reads. His opinion on Homo deus (was mentioned in a video by him) was truely interesting to hear!
Ooh! I’ve always wanted to talk about the books I’m reading. Right now I’m super into The Body Keeps the Score and it’s about how trauma is ingrained in your body and how to heal. It’s going over the history of talk therapy as well and the failings of the Diagnostic Standards of Measure and how BS it is. Really cool stuff.
I would love to hear what Simon is reading. I miss my days of reading so many books. (Toddlers don't let mama read as much as she wants). It would be cool to hear about some books that might interest me.
You should make a sticker or graphic of your tiny village, Martina. Even better yet, you strolling through the tiny village garden meeting your tiny villagers.
@@owlislike if you go to Okinawa, make sure you go to Taco Charley's. Okinawa has the best tacos I've ever had. Ocean Tacos is gone. 😞 Taco Charley's is pretty close as good.
That's interesting that you'd say that. The Salmon Skin Roll (Also called the BC Roll) was invented by Hidekazu Tojo in Vancouver, BC (hence the name), because he couldn't find any Anago (Salt Water Eel instead of the Unagi, the Fresh Water Eel) in Canada. So he used Salmon Skin as a substitute, for its texture. I know that this is a dumb long reply to your beautiful and simple comment, but I figured that I could show my appreciation for it, because it's surprisingly well connected. :P Bonus fact: Because of his contributions with his BC Roll and being credited for being the person to invent the California Roll, Hidekazu Tojo is a "Goodwill Ambassador of Japanese Cuisine". There's only like, a baker's dozen of chefs with this title outside of Japan.
I was the person who laughed at "d-EEL-icious". (you're welcome Simon! Keep the puns coming! :D) AAaaa I love hearing the old EYK stuff! There's something just so comforting about it
"Charcoal can reach up to 700F" .........seriously? Good lord that is hot. Also can I mention I've been watching y'all for yeeeeaaaaaarrrrs. Simon has matured into a grown man so beautifully. Listening to him talk about books and meditation and how he feels his choices have been good ones in life because of his happiness, that's really rewarding. I came here when I was a kid and y'all were too. Now we've grown, together. ♥

I LOVE UNAGI. From the first time I went to Japan and tried it, I have been in love with that delicious meal. Granted it’s not for everyone, but if you acquire a taste for it, there is no substitute for it on earth.
We went to Japan last year for our honeymoon and chose to stay in Nagoya for a few days. It was the BEST decision and definitely the highlight of our whole trip. As it's not a typical tourist spot, the people were so friendly and happy that we visited. AND, the unagi was our favourite meal!!!! Could not top that deliciousness! 10/10 recommend unagi and Nagoya.

I love what you guys stand for and I'm proud to support you in the tiny way that I am capable. 💚💚 I've watched for so long, and I'm finally in a place to be able to support your journey comfortably. Thank you for all of the laughs, smiles, and beautiful moments. I can't wait to see your future journeys.
I watched your channel when I was younger and out of curiosity checked you guys out again and I am thoroughly impressed. Will start watching again keep mongering.
I love hearing the FAPFAP music, but most of all, I love being able to see into the process of everything and see the pride that people have in what they do and in teaching others. Feeling those eels, I love the smile he got when he saw Martina understand the feeling of difference.
Hey guys, I've been watching your videos for years from when you were living in Bucheon. And since you started living in Japan, you guys went out to shoot very beautiful videos. I'm a student majoring in Broadcasting and documentary is one of the most learned things in my field. I have to say, I really enjoy your documentaries. Your videos are not conventional or sticking to "the manual" of documentaries styles but so creative and have personality. It's open, it's welcoming, it's not boring, and it isn't exactly trendy yet fits the current generation very well. On the technical side, the "character-driven" element changes in every video. The shots are versatile and have purpose. Keep it up guys. These videos are not easy to make. I hope this comment adds something positive to your day. Keep on building that ladder 😊
Omg thank you for covering unagi!! When I studied Japanese in Nagoya last year, I tried unagi and didn’t look back. My mouth is watering so bad. I hope everyone gets to try this

A few years back I flew to nagoya as cabin crew. It was my second time to Japan and I researched that unagi is Nagoyas specialty. For dinner, us crew went to a lovely seafood restaurant and all the crew were just having sushi. I ordered unagi and it was served similar to how you guys had it. I didnt know that I was supposed to eat it in 4 parts. The little bowl I used it as to share some of it with my colleagues. They were a little freaked out because its... eel and not very common in the western world. But each time I was taking a bite, I was putting a little bit of this and that on it. It was unique, but also very tasty. But the dashi I thought was tea and tried to drink it separately 😂😂😂😂 now I finally know what that was for! I had unagi again in Tokyo some time later, but I really hated because the sauce was too sweet :( I'm praying every day that the current global situation gets better soon so I can fly back to Japan. Thank you for your amazing content and stay safe :)
Unagi is one of my husband and my favorite dishes..when done well. I regret not visiting Japan when I had a friend in Nagoya. She was the sweetest person.
