5:21 it doesn't have to move slowly. It is fully capable of moving at faster speeds. It goes slow to scare the other robots. A hint that not only is the giant crane robot conscious, it also gets a twisted satisfaction out of its job.
It's not the only hint, but it's my favorite one.
They should make a whole movie out of this and show us more about his adventure in the city.
Yes, exactly! The animation, direction, lighting, timing, the characters and their movements... all are superb examples of CGI animation at its finest. A truly heart-tugging story told with wordless story-telling. My only complaint is that it seems like the opening chapter of a much longer story. "Please, sir, I want some more!"
I like how even the security camera robot seems to be afraid of the claw, you see him flinch when it grabs the steamroller.
I think he's just reacting to the force of the drop, while protecting his camera eye by turning his head around. He's loyal to the claw machine.

It reminded me of Pixar's Wall-E
This short is so epic that it's literally like a full length feature film that's only 6 minutes and 40 seconds long. Big thumb *up.*

This reminds me a LOT of Wall.E, its like there were hidden robots we never saw, i think this is sort of a reference to that with the crane bot because the head looks pretty close to Wall.E's actual head

This is a wonderful story! The animation is amazing, the lighting is perfect, you can see motive to the characters actions and their personalities are well defined! I have seen a few of ESMA's other things and I have to say you all are doing great.

True, but in the description the bot is refer to as a she. Besides the OC refer the bot as a he. So I can refer the digger as a she. Of course the digger has no true gender.

Perhaps other robots that worked at the junkyard that weren't shown started a revolution against the crane and overthrew the 'dictatorship' at the junkyard.

That would've been a great idea to have a movie with a similar plot, but with a robot dog, a robot cat, and a rouge guard bot. It'll really have a happy ending. 🐶🐱

I half expected that city being an even worse hellhole. Especially since all the lights were being lit at sunrise.
I love the amount of emotion the sounds and music give off.

This looked really good, the only thing I noticed was that the water didn’t seem to interact with the raft like I feel it would in real life, but it didn’t stop me from loving this animation

It reminded me alot more of Alita battle angle then it did walle and especially bc the trash place was like iron city and across the water was like the sky city
