This is truly a wonderful animation. The way this epic battle is portrayed, how it builds up to this massively decisive moment, just for a wave to come crashing down. It truly is a work of art, showing how far one's childish imagination can take them on adventures such as this one.

When we were kids our imaginations ran wild while playing, no matter where it was. Great video 👍👍
This honestly would make a great video game concept
You play as the sand soldiers and can pull from the sand and combine into various war machines from medieval times. With shells as armor.
Various forms of sea life being the antagonist
You could do local split screen and online play where players could combine into single forms they both control.
A wordless story
Call the game Sands of Time
The overall plot being that nothing lasts forever, and no matter how hard you fight and the battles you win, eventually everything is wiped away by the sea, however depending on how dark you like your stories, the end could be happyish: the sand soldiers come back after the wave comes, and it's rebuilt again over and over.
Pros: effectively only one decal is needed for most of the assets as most are made of the same material.
A wordless take on the story would mean less work and people all in all.
Everything that isn't sand gets to be really detailed
Cons: since no dialogue, the game would need VERY good choreography
The shadow simulation would need to be SUBURB since most of the game would be the same textures, shadows would be one of the only ways to see finer details.

The soundtrack just great, not only did it match the plot but the sound itself was amazing
A beautiful pearl relfecting the light, a terrifying monster coming from the darkness, and (of course) a fearless hero on a brave destrier, yes, the battle can begin...It's a timeless scenario, but as in the human universe, the story does't matter, neither the place or the time, because the cause is noble and only the cause matters.

This is the type of thing younger me would imagine, and not just with sand castles. Pretty much any toy with characters and some kind of buildings, and I would even draw stick figures and 2D fights like this.

im going through my old watched videos and i found a bunch of animations. i have emotional attachments to these, this one specifically. i just love everything about it and its such a cool animation
They should make a movie about this, it has so much potential
Alternatively, and this would be a real challenge, put the kibosh on voices, and have the movie be setting driven like it is in this short. That is quite hard to do right, but if they did, it would be a magnificent work of art.

This is my all-time favorite CGI animated short.
A gritty story. Based on a true story from Fort Knox in 1986..A platoon of men battling crabs together.
