The games they develop may have their problems but if Jagex can’t reset the test server even after delaying a stream for half an hour then I think anyone who has past experience in competitive gaming can be a lot of help
I feel RS has quite a classical problem in the game development landscape, it seems that new content being put into production follows a cycle of creative and technical work which is very solid. The visual designs of new areas and bosses for example are beautiful and the core interactions work pretty great as well (pathing, object collision and interfaces) and you can clearly see the technical expertise of the mods presenting to the community. However what most developers find difficult is to polish the experience beyond the scope of the implementation so this is where QA comes in. I have a really strong feeling most issues are either created by the engine limitations and scaling thereof (actually putting hundreds of player in the same render distance for example) as well as an incremental cycle of QA feedback. I can imagine, since the main focus seems to be carried by highly technical staff, the QA and Dev teams are running into a problem of output validation. This means that, over time, the QA team has adapted to certain process requirements initially set by the Dev team when it comes to ticketing to communicate bugs or extension/polishing of features in an incremental and probably Agile way which has 2 fundamental flaws: 1. If you QA the implementation on a per-ticket basis incrementally over multiple releases you might miss newly introduced interactions with said implementation as the acceptance criteria don't account for them. 2. Incrementally evaluating tickets delivered might introduce behavior which has previously been accepted to fail the acceptance criteria which will go unnoticed. This is why I personally feel the core of new releases is pretty solid while sometimes obvious issues are missed after an update is launched, for example: during the Croesus release the main mechanics worked quite good and the boss fight itself was pretty stable even for public lobbies (scale). But for some reason the broadcasting of unique drops slipped through the cracks while I can't imagine that this wasn't included in the default process briefing of creating a new boss or that everyone in the QA team missed this (unless this is an active choice to counter the estimation of drop rates for the new GW3 bosses based on adventurers logs since, for some reason, they remain quite secretive about). This leads to another process oversight: testing scale and over-time interactions, in order for a QA professional to detect the issue with drops not getting announced one must actually receive a drop during testing. Which might be cost inefficient assuming they don't have the ability to manipulate the drop chances from a console. What I think Jagex does really good however is that they don't tend to be hyper reactive to issues found once they are put into production unless they are game breaking, which means the updates and patches rarely feel clunky or hasty which might lead to a lot of other issues down the road, especially when the community feels like they're running around like headless chickens.
Man I was there for the event it was crazy there was only a few people left when i was there and then a big guy spawned and killed me instant.. really unfair I believe i could've went alot longer
And here i am, hoping they instead make something big and permanent. Imagine if they made a clan quest to complete, and use ideas from kingdom of miscellenia (which in my opinion is the most boring way of making you "king") and do something big, needing to defend the clan fortress, hiring workers to get resources for everyone in the clan, needing players to actually manage workers that might get lazy, demoralized or go on strike. Something you can REALLY invest your time into that isn't maxing your exp/bank.
You could have paid me a six figure salary, given me a year to plan and I wouldn't have been able to intentionally fuck up an event as hard as this one was by accident. I actually have no idea how a team fucks up this bad
the community deserves it the gaem deserves it but the company does not which is unfortunate for the players and the game that is still alive after 20 years

I can even agree with you. have you been to skilling boss yet will miss it?
Killing it at the moment! Seems alright, though a little repetitive :P
You show me this and I can only vaguely remember that gamemode/tournament/whatever. Don't think I even bothered with it.
Yeah, same. A viewer requested this video a few weeks ago. Until then, I had completely forgot about this :P
Great vid, thanks for keeping us informed
Even the ad is terrific, lol!
Man I was there for the event it was crazy there was only a few people left when i was there and then a big guy spawned and killed me instant.. really unfair I believe i could've went alot longer
Wow this event honestly looks like it'd be really fun.
2:53 seems like every MMO ever.
Awesome video! Only downside is how many times we have to hear you say ‘Finale’
26 times lol
You could have paid me a six figure salary, given me a year to plan and I wouldn't have been able to intentionally fuck up an event as hard as this one was by accident.
I actually have no idea how a team fucks up this bad
I thought this was going to be about darkscape, I had never heard of this event.
Old school deadman fights at the end of the tournament are esports wothy mabey they could use the new duel arena 🤷🏼♂️🤞🏻🙏🏻❤️
the community deserves it the gaem deserves it but the company does not which is unfortunate for the players and the game that is still alive after 20 years
The event was a mess but I was still happy to finish top 50 I wish they made a new reward for top 50 since they just gave Shaun to everyone
EOC literally nuked the game we all loved
nuked it so much that it is still alive.
@@flameknightdragon Barely some of the worlds have legit 16 players in them. Its a shame because I enjoy alot of aspects in rs3 alot more than osrs but EoC is cancer.
as a new player to osrs, i love the main game, but DMM and this rs3 tournament make me want to never be involved in any "temp game mode" ever due to it being a complete waste of my time not just in general anyways due to the fact its a temp mode, but also dont seem worth it
even tho it was a complete disaster, it stills fills me with emotion when I look at something like this video and think to myself "I was there". I remember being completely disappointed cuz I planned a lot for the finals, I was still at school and I had to skip class that day to be able to play, and then I died to literally nothing lol just like a lot of ppl died at the gates before the thing even started... but that damned event still holds a special spot in my heart
I feel your pain, died to the miasma while heading towards Tavelry. I had to juggle shifts with some coworkers in order to participate, only to die literally seconds after it started. I'm more disappointed that they haven't tried anything like that since than the huge flop that was that tournament.
Still got the shauny pet but yes i know the feeling
@@kippascrew I got him too. I don't remember what place I ended on but I died a bit after the random mass spawn that is shown in the video. I managed to kill some zombies and then some invisible ones started appearing as far as I remember. Ppl around me died the same way, no miasma no nothing, just random hits. I remember I was at the cabbage field when I died
Just goes to show you shouldn't put your real life off to play a game 🙄
This ad was something else.. LOL
Wow, I’ve never heard of this ESport event
Each one of these has been an issue, especially this last tourney. Jagex should really figure this stuff out
15:20
I like Menaphos. :/
Even darkscape done better than this wish they brought it back 😪
i literally remember mod mohawk saying "why are all of you afk, your supposed to kill zombies, not chickens!!" while there was nothing to kill
I Remember that too
Liked as soon as I heard kerapac's theme music! That stuff is dope ^^
If I didn't get hacked and lost over 400m I'd still play today, I kind of miss playing Runescape.
ahhh good times :')
i remember Rainy and i went to the Jolly Boar inn and the examine on the stairs was like "its not safe to go up because of the zombie hoards"
and we were like ahh yes of course, zombies are able to get upstairs but not fall back down them? and with impeccable timing one of those big boy zombies then spawned right beside us xD
The amount of incompetence surrounding this event is staggering
i had no idea about this, good vid dude
Didnt even know this was a thing, like Darkscape? I remember it but it like disappeared? It's like did it even really happen? I remember playing it. I remember running to the GE at the lumbridge training area. But after that it's a blank memory
I miss darkscape..
I had no idea this even happened
