It sucks but seeing all these people getting scammed and rug pulled by NFTs and Cryptos, sometimes make me think that guy did me a favor 20 years ago lmao
had something similar happen to me too, i didn't have much on the account but it was basically the closest thing to online "friends" i had, i even tried to recreate the account after i got scammed with the same name hopping i could just keep the friendlist if anything. It gave me a lesson on how shitty some people are both online and real life with assholes in my life saying lol its just a game, good thing you can quit now. imagine saying that to 10--12 year old after he got hacked. Its sad it happened to timmy but i don't really feel bad for him at least he had a family who cared about him enough to give him money before and cared after the fact. he was lucky.

This video brought back flashbacks, I can remember being around TImmys age and being hacked back in runescape classic, I had so many cakes from Ardongue and lost them all but one, my first bankslot item to this day still, lol, when I logged in I was wearing a pink skirt and gloves in falador square and I knew something was wrong. I was so upset. My dad mentioned he was going to contact Jagex and ask for membership money back since it was now a waste of time and I talked him out of it, wasn't worth trying anyway really but, bless my parents for trying to figure out how to make me feel better.

I disagree. While I don't like that real world consequences were had, I don't think he deserves to play if he was doing real world trading and botting. back in the early 2000s where the internet was basically a cantina and mos eisley, where occasionally you had some poor luke skywalker walk in with no obi wan to protect their scrawny no force having ass.
This gave me some ptsd from when I was about 12, I fished swordfish for two weeks to afford my first whip, after a few days I was hanging out with one of my friends, LOW ALCHING. And I accidentally low alched my whip, and I cried for a good 20 minutes. Good times.
Timmy and his family are a wholesome bunch, normal family reacting in a normal way to abnormal situation. His RWT was wrong but the kid was 11, not something I'd judge him for. But those bullies and trolls, they deserve a pummelling.

Swatting has been going on for well over a decade now (closer to 2), and it’s horrific in every situation. If someone dies as a result of it, is the person who calls in the “tip” liable for the deaths it caused? Definitely something to think about.

A quick search reveals that yes, swatters have been given even life sentences for getting people killed. So while likely the sentence may wary, if person A gets person B ( Or person C/D/E...anyone at all) killed by swatting, those deaths are on person A. Had Timmy's grandpa been shot during the swatting and died, those account thieves and scammers would have had the blood on their hands, so if caught been looking at 20 to life.

Picture this... It's 2002 and I had just turned 14. I mined rune ore In wildly for ages It seemed. I saved up everything and sold off everything I owned to buy a newly released Dragon med. It sold for 3.5m at the time which was an extreme amount of gp back then. I walked all the way through Draynor to Lumby to show off my dragon med to everyone. I had a lot of people following behind me asking to see It In a trade screen, asking how much It cost and how I could afford one so soon. As a 14 year old who owned the best helm In the game I of course showed off and bragged a little bit. Well a lot lol. I make my way back to Draynor bank and as I'm walking out a guy approached me and was asking all of the same questions everyone else had asked me all morning except he said something else. He said If you give me your email I'll send you some pictures of my bank account and you can pick anything or everything you want for your dragon med. 14 year old me thought "I'm fixing to clean this guy". I'll have enough to afford full rune and another dragon med. So I gave him my email, clicked the link and.... All I got was an error message. I was confused but I kept clicking thinking It was my computer or something. Nope! I had been keylogged. He didn't delete my friends list or change my password.... He just took the only Item I had left. My dragon med. I was sick to my stomach. I logged back Into my account and he messaged and said. Thanks for the dragon med buddy! I'll be 34 In a few months and I still remember that day as If It had just happened. His Rsn was Abc123Abc. I can't remember a lot of things that's happened In life over the years but I remember that lmfao. For those wondering why I didn't have him to put Items In a trade screen. It's because you could only trade 12 Items at a time and he had put up a bunch of gp which took ages to trade back then and a bunch of other things. I was 14 and stupid. Lesson learned.

I clicked the link and nothing but an error message popped up and I thought It was my PC and kept clicking It lmfao. No website or anything but the error message popped up. It was vicious for sure. I started playing In April 2001 and back then recovery questions wasn't a thing. I can't remember If Jagex had made them a thing yet or not when that happened. Playing RS back when I was only 9 (way too long now lol) I used to sit around Varrock castle when I wasn't selling iron bars at the general market nearby. One thing I'd watch our for is players who were low on health, one of those days a player did actually die to a guard and I managed to grab some of their stuff. Mainly, I got the coins from them. However, only a few mins later did I get a pm from someone asking me if I wanted to join their clan, I did meet them in the centre of Varrock later but had already deposited my gold and never carried much. When I followed them, they crossed into the wilderness where some leader was supposed to be, they must have been disappointed to kill me out in that place I'd never heard of just to find nothing of value. Good times :)

to this day I can't remember ever having been scammed on runescape. When I first started playing back in 2006 I could barely even type and I never traded with anyone. The only trade I ever accepted was from some random guy who flashed me his cash stack of like 10k then immediately closed the window and ran off. I was also terrified of the wilderness because I had one of those runescape guide books from the scholastic book fair that said the wilderness was dangerous and players could kill you there. I was about 9 at the time and all I did was run around lumby and kill goblins save for the odd excursion to the wilderness ditch to watch all the PKers kill each other en masse. One time made my way to Draynor village but got scared and left because I thought it was spooky. I also use to hang around the wizard tower and take the boots that would spawn there. Now that I'm thinking back to my first days on runescape, I remember the first time I ever died. I got killed by a level 7 farmer on my way to Varrock and lost my whole bank. I was so upset I started crying at the computer in the library. I also got runescape banned from the school library computers because my teacher saw me killing goblins and thought it was too violent, so they blocked it.
I remember getting lured when I was 13, thinking about it I can still remember the hopelessness feeling I had, Runescape was my favourite game for years plus it was an escape for me as i was bullied for having a Polish last name, my first hard life lessons lol.
I very vaguely remember this but just within 1 minute of the video I thought “that is the worse thing you can do”. I hope someone suggested suing the news.

I disagree. While I don't like that real world consequences were had, I don't think he deserves to play if he was doing real world trading and botting. If someone says the excuse is that he was an 11 year old and didn't know any better, then it shows he shouldn't have been on the game because he wasn't responsible enough. I played RS my whole life, pre age 11, and never had an issue understanding the rules.
back in the early 2000s where the internet was basically a cantina and mos eisley, where occasionally you had some poor luke skywalker walk in with no obi wan to protect their scrawny no force having ass.
This gave me some ptsd from when I was about 12, I fished swordfish for two weeks to afford my first whip, after a few days I was hanging out with one of my friends, LOW ALCHING. And I accidentally low alched my whip, and I cried for a good 20 minutes. Good times.
Timmy and his family are a wholesome bunch, normal family reacting in a normal way to abnormal situation. His RWT was wrong but the kid was 11, not something I'd judge him for.
But those bullies and trolls, they deserve a pummelling.
I find it sad that everyone still seems to think doing things like swatting or mass harassment are funny, you'd think we've had long enough to learn the longterm damage these things cause people.
Swatting has been going on for well over a decade now (closer to 2), and it’s horrific in every situation. If someone dies as a result of it, is the person who calls in the “tip” liable for the deaths it caused? Definitely something to think about.
If you have the perspective that "everyone seems to think swatting and harassment are funny", maybe you need to find some new friends.
Thankfully not everyone. I would wager that it aint nearly as large of a circle that thinks putting people in lethal danger and giving them tons of mental anguish is ok or funny.

If person A Swats person B, who gets killed due to it, person A will get the charges of costing person B their life. Because it's deliberate, targeted, and the aim is to cause harm to the target. Not to mention the swat team being distracted and busy with the false alarm, meaning an actual real situation where they are needed can get not dealt with resulting in also death. A quick search reveals that yes, swatters have been given even life sentences for getting people killed. So while likely the sentence may wary, if person A gets person B ( Or person C/D/E...anyone at all) killed by swatting, those deaths are on person A. Had Timmy's grandpa been shot during the swatting and died, those account thieves and scammers would have had the blood on their hands, so if caught been looking at 20 to life.

back in 2010 i was hacked by the same method when i was about 12 years old, the same clan but in a f2p world, lost around 6m in items and back then that was everything to me, i remember crying after it happened and quitting for a little while.

I got hacked as young boy after grinding fire giants for a dragon med helm. I quit the game, gave my account to my friends for them to share cause it was the highest level at the time. I tried playing again like 10 years later but didn't even make it off tutorial island. I hit several 0s in a row on the rat and it gave me PTSD lol.

Picture this... It's 2002 and I had just turned 14. I mined rune ore In wildly for ages It seemed. I saved up everything and sold off everything I owned to buy a newly released Dragon med. It sold for 3.5m at the time which was an extreme amount of gp back then. I walked all the way through Draynor to Lumby to show off my dragon med to everyone. I had a lot of people following behind me asking to see It In a trade screen, asking how much It cost and how I could afford one so soon. As a 14 year old who owned the best helm In the game I of course showed off and bragged a little bit. Well a lot lol. I make my way back to Draynor bank and as I'm walking out a guy approached me and was asking all of the same questions everyone else had asked me all morning except he said something else. He said If you give me your email I'll send you some pictures of my bank account and you can pick anything or everything you want for your dragon med. 14 year old me thought "I'm fixing to clean this guy". I'll have enough to afford full rune and another dragon med. So I gave him my email, clicked the link and.... All I got was an error message. I was confused but I kept clicking thinking It was my computer or something. Nope! I had been keylogged. He didn't delete my friends list or change my password.... He just took the only Item I had left. My dragon med. I was sick to my stomach. I logged back Into my account and he messaged and said. Thanks for the dragon med buddy! I'll be 34 In a few months and I still remember that day as If It had just happened. His Rsn was Abc123Abc. I can't remember a lot of things that's happened In life over the years but I remember that lmfao. For those wondering why I didn't have him to put Items In a trade screen. It's because you could only trade 12 Items at a time and he had put up a bunch of gp which took ages to trade back then and a bunch of other things. I was 14 and stupid. Lesson learned.

I clicked the link and nothing but an error message popped up and I thought It was my PC and kept clicking It lmfao. No website or anything but the error message popped up. It was vicious for sure. He didn't delete my friends list or bother to change my password. I guess their was no need to change my password because he got everything he wanted which was my dragon med. I started playing In April 2001 and back then recovery questions wasn't a thing. I can't remember If Jagex had made them a thing yet or not when that happened. To this day I carry a piece of paper with my recovery questions and answers wrote down along with every password, credit card and Internet provider ever used. It taught me a very valuable lesson lol.

Great video, reminds me of my first time dealing with lurers. Playing RS back when I was only 9 (way too long now lol) I used to sit around Varrock castle when I wasn't selling iron bars at the general market nearby. One thing I'd watch our for is players who were low on health, one of those days a player did actually die to a guard and I managed to grab some of their stuff. Mainly, I got the coins from them. However, only a few mins later did I get a pm from someone asking me if I wanted to join their clan, I did meet them in the centre of Varrock later but had already deposited my gold and never carried much. When I followed them, they crossed into the wilderness where some leader was supposed to be, they must have been disappointed to kill me out in that place I'd never heard of just to find nothing of value. Good times :)

to this day I can't remember ever having been scammed on runescape. When I first started playing back in 2006 I could barely even type and I never traded with anyone. The only trade I ever accepted was from some random guy who flashed me his cash stack of like 10k then immediately closed the window and ran off. I was also terrified of the wilderness because I had one of those runescape guide books from the scholastic book fair that said the wilderness was dangerous and players could kill you there.
I was about 9 at the time and all I did was run around lumby and kill goblins save for the odd excursion to the wilderness ditch to watch all the PKers kill each other en masse. One time made my way to Draynor village but got scared and left because I thought it was spooky. I also use to hang around the wizard tower and take the boots that would spawn there.
Now that I'm thinking back to my first days on runescape, I remember the first time I ever died. I got killed by a level 7 farmer on my way to Varrock and lost my whole bank. I was so upset I started crying at the computer in the library. I also got runescape banned from the school library computers because my teacher saw me killing goblins and thought it was too violent, so they blocked it.

was scammed the same way in runescape. In the sense of a fake rs website. Around when i was 12, by a fake rs link through youtube. I fortunately explained it to jagex and they shut down the acc and tracked the attempted log ins. Still have the account to this day. wish timmy the best and hope if he plays he enjoys the game.
