They could but they rarely play doubles anymore due to injuries. =( Serena's schedule gets shorter and shorter. She's still battling knee tendinitis which is why she withdrew from Indian Wells and Miami. I hope she is back soon for clay court season.
I think the "injury" is not that severe and she's probably saving herself. She's 35, she's trying to win a couple more Grand Slams and playing on the IW & Miami hard courts would have brought nothing for the clay season :D
