  • Lotus, electric, SUV - three words you would not have put together 10 years ago. But the times they are a-changing, and the brand best known for manufacturing lightweight sports cars has joined the rest of the automotive industry to give the people what they want, big electric cars. And you know what? It's pretty good!

i followed one yesterday on the M4 from Berkshire to Bristol - bright green - driven by a slightly smug woman who sat in the middle lane most of the time - but that was ok coz i just kept going round her looking at this 'space ship from another planet' (had a similar experience 5 years ago with the Jaguar iPace) - it was captivating and has brought me here - and I plan to visit the showroom opposite the Ritz - bypass the Millenials in Lotus jumpsuits and get a feel for this £100,000+ potential next car

I think the S is the sweet spot in the Eletre lineup. Looks like a winner.

Gorgeous car, it’s just much more beautiful to see in real with it’s true dimensions. On photos and videos, it’s not very photogenic

I saw this car on the road too and agree that it looks many times better than on video. This car really turned my head.:)

Yes it’s subjective. But I really dislike the laptop screen stuck on the dash. Interesting car though.

For the platform, Lotus doesn’t share it’s platform with any Geely product. The Eletre has it’s own platform called the Electric Premium Architecture (EPA), which is different from other Geely products’ platform called the Sustainable Experience Architecture (SEA). Apparently the SEA was not sporty enough to be put in a Lotus.

that entry "S" model has had a huge wedge of expensive options added e.g the interior, wing mirror cameras, sound system, active aero, wheels etc

      Active aero is standard

As a huge fan of Lotus cars I unsurprisingly have to say that the fact that it wears a Lotus badge does not change the fact that this is NOT a Lotus! I have no desire to drive this but really want to get behind the wheel of an Emira which is a Lotus.

A: Taycan. this thing weighs nearly 6000lbs. while the Porsche is no lightweight, however when you race and win at Lemans for 50+ years, you learn things (that others won't) about how to properly spec brakes needed to repeatedly slow vehicles down from 200mph.

@@phillyphil1513 the Eletre brakes better than a Taycan. This video Eletre R versus Taycan GTS prouves what I said:
