    Great by the book video. Thanks for sharing.....for me, Some of this busy work😅 isnt needed on the passenger side. The filter can be taken in and out without doing anything other than the filter box screws. Must hold tongue just right though.😅
    On the driver's side I simply remove the front bolts and upper driver's side bolts and the 10mm coolant reservoir bolt and lift the brace up enough to slip in the air filter. I don't undo any other electrical connections clips other than the body panel type push in clips. I recommend having some of them on hand because I usually break them because I can't hold my tongue just right and I usually have them break on me. 😊

      Thanks for the comment. Some stuff doesn’t “need” to be removed but I make the DIY videos for those who have less experience and can get the job done without risking breaking anything or damaging things on the way in or out.
      After some experience you can develop short cuts the get the job done faster. Glad you enjoyed the video!

    Great video! Where can I find the socket adapters & fittings that were used to undo the screws using the Milwaukee driver?

    Quick questions, why is it important to change these filters and how often should we ? Awesome work with the video man

      There a few reasons why you should change the air filter, but here are the main reasons.
      As you drive, the filter will trap any debris from getting into your Engine. Even small particles of dirt can do some heavy damage to the cylinder walls leading to expensive repairs. If the filter is not replaced the filter can become so dirty that it will then restrict air flow to your engine. This can increase the amount of fuel you use, lower engine performance and cause check engine lights to turn on. No fun.
      When it comes to high performance engines such as this you always want to make sure it can breath easily and not restrict its air flow.
      BMW recommends this filter be replaced every 3rd oil change or typically every 30,000 miles. If you live in dusty climates you want to replace it sooner. Hope this helps!

    I love BMWs, i always wanted an M3 but the older i get, the more i appreciate simplicity (aka i can't afford this shit).
    Great channel btw, this thing is gonna explode in no time. Anyone with a BMW is a dumb-dumb if they don't subscribe 😋

      Thank you for the high praise much appreciated. I’m hoping to help many BMW owners keep their cars maintained and their love of the brand ongoing!

      Don't let your fears take over. I've driven BMW's for over 35 years and never had any major issues. Only typical wear and tear and scheduled maintenance.

      @@LemonySnicket-EUC thanks, i needed to hear that. It's probably just a fear of major failure. I've been driving Japanese cars and they were super reliable, i love them but they just can't scratch that itch like a BMW would. I don't know how else to explain it 🙂

    People have said T25 screws for to remove the air filter top - is it T20 or T25?

    Toward end of your video, why do the screws need to be replaced? We cannot use the screws that we removed ?

    • @friendlymechanic9778
      @friendlymechanic9778  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Per BMW specifications they require them to be replaced any time they are loosened/removed. However I have seen many people re use them and not break on them. But that would be up to you to decide. I just want to make sure I put out all the correct information.

    Do you have the part numbers for the screws that needed to be replaced?

      The description on this video has all the part numbers for the screws that need to be replaced.
      If it is a little confusing because some parts cross over to the spark plug screws and bolts. I can look them over and select the ones you need just for the air filter. But I wanted to give you a response for now. I can dig into that if you would like.

    These are intake filter not cabin air filters😂 You could have dropped the engine and transmission that would make it very easy to get at the filters.

    I have a Toyota Tacoma and an M3. Why are bmw such a pain in the ass just to change filters while Toyota is easy peasy?

    • @friendlymechanic9778
      @friendlymechanic9778  ปีที่แล้ว

      We may never know the real reason but I get it. I love working on BMW but sometimes a simple filter change without any tools is nice.
