    As an electrician who's been doing service work in basements and attics for nearly 10 years, I can tell you that carrying staples and a hammer in those areas can be a real pain. Despite this, I've noticed that other electricians often make fun of those who use staplers. However, I don't let their teasing bother me. This stapler right here is a time-saver, and I'll continue to use it regardless of what others may think.
    PS: I have to say that this TH-cam video was incredibly well done. Thank you for such a great job!

    Hello Bill! I have this stapler as well. So far it is great I really like it. I have used it on cat5 cable and quickly discovered what you did as well with the coaxial, the more pressure and it sinks them deeper damaging the cable. I have used it so far on some romex 14-2, cat 5 and 6 as well as a couple I would estimate 12 gauge garage light fixture cords. Very pleased with performance especially once I mastered the amount of needed pressure.

    When using this tool make very sure the cable is running underneath and in line with the staple magazine. The guide is approximately 5mm in front of where the staples actually fire. If your cable runs sideways after it passes through the guide you will hit the cable. This also limits the tool in confined spaces. If the staple goes through the cable be prepared to spend way more time on the job than this tool would save you.

    Hi Bill. It's too bad this wasn't available a year or so ago when I got a DeWalt stapler. (All my tools are Milwaukee, except the stapler.) I needed it for a job that had a lot of overhead straight runs. The DeWalt doesn't appear to staple as hard as the Milwaukee. It's a little looser than I'd like. I would hate to invest in another stapler, but it would be interesting to see a side-by-side comparison of the two.
    I re-watched your DeWalt review and I like how DeWalt shows what and how many cables it is approved to secure.

  • @kenbrown2808
    @kenbrown2808 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've had a manual coax specific staple gun for years. it shoots a curved staple and has a 3 position guide to manage the depth. I've also seen a model that shoots a staple with a plastic liner I don't actually use it much, I'm usually running coax in parallel with cat 5, and that means a coax specific fastener doesn't work.

    • @SparkyChannel
      @SparkyChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. Do you get any interference with the 2 cables next to each other? Your coax specific gun is a much better idea than a 3/4" staple IMO.

      @@SparkyChannel don't forget that communications systems have dozens of data lines bundled together. the biggest thing I remember is not to make coils of extra wire with data lines. it's also not good to have coils of power cable. in both cases you are making an inductor, which causes problems. I'll have to think about adding that cable stapler to my kit. the convenience is a big draw, but is it enough to offset the fact that loose staples cost a tenth as much? plus I just bought a blower and a cable cutter.

    Another great video Bill, after you did a review on the Dewalt cable stapler, i went out and bought one, I like it alot. Do you plan on doing a comparison between the two? I like the fact that the Dewalt doesn't change the depth of the staple, based on how hard you push the the gun against the staple, takes that variable out of the equation. And as you have stated, if you need it to be tighter just tap in the staple a little harder.

    • @SparkyChannel
      @SparkyChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am an electrician and do low voltage as well as ac. I have another stapler for low voltage that has smaller all metal /non insulated staples more similar to a regular paper stapler (but wider) that have staples that have a hump in the middle for the different small cables so there is no chance of pinching. There are two different hump sizes for cat 5, thermostat etc, and another specifically sized for rg6 coax. They work great. They were available at home depot/lowes? for a while but I am not sure if they still are. Then years ago before this milwaukee gun came out I had already bought a romex gun like this from halex which came out. It has coated staples and works great. It uses its own lion batteries. I got lots of staples to last me a long time which were cheap. The gun has a depth adjustment dial for the type of romex/mc you are using. The staples have glue coating on the pins to add holding strength. The halex gun was not widely adopted and they gave up on it. I spoke to and bought staples who cleared the manufacturing facility out full of guns and staples. But I think it is great and there was nothing like it on the market for years until now. I thought the fact that it was not widely adopted showed how stupid contractors were in the industry.

    Do you think it staples wire better and tighter than the DEWALT cable stapler? I have the DEWALT one but all my tools are Milwaukee M12.
    Wondering if it makes sense to buy the M12 one and ditch the DEWALT one.

      @@Ampacityelectric Yea, I’m debating if I switch I can just sell the DEWALT kit. I got it for a steal though at my local Home Depot which is why I bought it. For some reason, the kit was down to $189 and the staples were $7 a box so I bought them all.
      I’m just used to Milwaukee tools and their warranties are great. Not so sure when it comes to DEWALT.

      @@SaludfitnessPUNTOcom I did buy a box of the Milwaukee staples and found they go in much nicer with a hammer when compared to the DEWALT staples. It seems to work very nicely for MC. I'm not a fan of using a power stapler for Cat 5-6. I like the idea of hand stapling them with the proper curved and insulated staples. If the staples put too much pressure on the category cables you could get interference.

      MC is required in certain applications. One application would be metal studs since the sharp edges can cut into Romex. Commercial work uses it a lot more than residential. It's basically a protective covering for the wires.

    I have a gun like this that has been out for a decade from Halex which did not sell and they discontinued it soon after, but it works great and makes the job much easier and clean. In my opinion anyone who did not buy it which is why it disappeared or thinks this milwaukee is not worth it or laughs at it is a fool, is stupid and must like working less efficiently and making their job harder. Then they use the excuse of stapling by hand being difficult for a reason for not securing wiring often enough and properly. Stapling romex by hand is a joke and would be like using a horse and buggy to drive around to do contracting work. Now the same goes for buying a new gasoline vehicle versus electric with its 4-5x higher fueling costs and unreliable drivetrain which needs constant maintenance costing more money. Who were known as the luddites and will suffer doing things the old and inferior way.
